  1. Put some pile of rain down over here through the night, could be a bit doubtful this match, just have to wait and see what the day brings later on as it's quite early at the moment I write this!! Will be looking for a far better performance from the Comets, if it's on, than we got last night, expecting a win but not by that much, 6/8pts!!
  2. Another dreadful performance from the Comets at Armadale, wonder just how long it's going to be before we realise that Edinburgh, away, isnt just a fixture to get rid of before moving on to the next match and will, at some point, actually make an effort there? Looking at the return's it was a fairly moderate effort with Rusty being the standout performer, we cant expect to be taken seriously as title contenders, or contenders for anything for that matter, when teams, like Edinburgh, are nearly always going to be there or there about's, and if we are going to just turn up knowing we are not going to perform even before we get there, how will we ever win anything? Reading some of the prior posts on this it was asked, were E,boro just good or the Comets just bad, well, the result speaks for itself, more a case of the latter I would say, you can only beat what's in front of you hence the good all round return's for the Monarch's and, disappointing as it may be for us, I do think some promoter's give us more credit than we at times deserve as being credible opposition, a bit of research on past performances would stop that especially at Armadale!! We really must start to get rid of this negative attitude that we have there because sooner rather than later, Edinburgh will become the monkey we cant shake off when the pots are up for grabs, must do better!!!!
  3. Considering the enormous amount of head scratching that went into organising this meeting in the first place seems a bit of a shame that some, lets say, "over generous" watering then a bit of bad luck weather wise has conspired to go and ruin it all? Cant see Somerset being thrown out of the comp for this so, when will the re-run be taking place? Would seem logical to do a dbl header with the league match in July rather than just, try again soon, with said league match not being that far off, possibility perhaps!!! Think Somerset's management just need to stand up and apologise though for tonight, it cant be seen as fair to the paying spectator when information is not divulged as to ongoing events, an occassional update should have been the order of the day, and, especially when it was not looking likely that the meeting would continue? Never been a fan of this, on the day "one off" dumping method of track watering, if physically possible why not do several small waterings instead and build up gradually, after all, manufacturer's dont advise you to put one big thick coat of paint on your wall to do a nice job do they!! Now, in the words of Samuel Pepys, "and so to bed" Goodnight everyone!!
  4. Was announced on track that he was missing due to illness, though what that illness was wasnt specified?
  5. From my position Rene wasnt moving at all just made perfect fast starts, anything else would have been pulled up, as Doyley found out!! Just Aussies sticking together, I wouldn't worry about it?
  6. Thank's for that Shadders, was hoping someone would say that!! Still hurt though if your unlucky enough to hit the bit that aint covered?
  7. Heard over the PA tonight that a series of fund raising events are to take place in order to contribute to an air/foam fence around DP, going to take an awful lot of em to cover our boundary??
  8. Well, if ever a match was a tale of two halves this was it!! Comets started very well building up to a healthy 10pt lead and the promise of more to come when, quite simply, the wheels came off, 7hts and only two heat advantages, and one of the those being awarded, the tale of the second half. No back up to speak of tonight from the reserve/middle order to bolster sterling efforts from Rich/Rene and, to some extent, an underpowered Rusty!! Dont know what has happened to Kyle of late he's just riding like a man who's forgotten how to win, too easily beaten and seemingly not capable of riding under pressure, fell away alarmingly when passed tonight, if ever someone needed to relax more and let the bike do the work Kyle is that man fighting his bike much too much, chill son, chill!! Mills, way too slow, never a threat to anyone, Ashley, too inconsistent, probably being overused due to R/R as he got progressively worse as the meeting wore on? Dont think the Rebels will be too displeased at only having to make up 6pts, should do that easily enough as I think we will struggle badly down there using R/R again with our misfiring cover? Would like to be proved wrong but the realist in me think's not, would have liked 12/16pts and, as previously stated, were well on track for that but simply lost the plot!! Somerset look a decent enough side, good scoring from nearly all of them tonight with only the NL reserve not picking up at least a paid win and thats the type of side who generally end up winning the big trophies!! I hope that Comets are simply saving their energies for a tilt at the title with no other distractions, I'd hate to think that this was as good as it get,s when the pressure is on??
  9. Excellent forward planning from the promotion, makes a real change from last year!!
  10. Certainly look's that way on paper, expecting a tough match as Somerset generally go extremely well here so we will need to be on top form to get a reasonable lead? I would be very happy with 12/16pts but that would require full commitment from everyone to achieve so, here's hoping!! Weather forecast is poor tomorrow with rain nearly all day and showers for Saturday, hope the track can stand it?
  11. Excellent 4 pointer for the Comets today, dont have many reports on the meeting but it seems like it wasnt too bad a match!! Top performance from Rich, think he likes this track, and good support from the ranks ensured max pts from the weekend, just what we needed!! Hope the young guy Harley isn't too badly hurt, never reads good when it takes a long time to clear the track through an injury and that would be the last thing Glasgow would have wanted, adding to an already crash n burn style season, best of luck to you fella!!
  12. Sorry, but your assertion with this comment is what exactly?? Already admitted my lapse in concentration previous, I am "actually" aware of the tac ride rules, merely slipped my mind while concocting a misguided theory!! From where I was, Rene clearly slowed down into turn 1 when I was convinced the pass was on and, as they say, the rest is history. Hope that's cleared that up, although I'm told I can get cream if it doesn't!!
  13. Damn you Sir, my conspiracy theory well shot down, forgot all about that Ht 14 business, (well, I have been away for a while!!).
  14. Pulled this one out of the fire a bit, got caught very cold on a poor track which played straight into the hands of the Bears especially during the first half of the meeting!! Once the track evened out a bit Comets started to get going and pulled out some good races to finally subdue a spirited opposition and full marks to them for that. Redcar are not a brilliant side but appear, if they could get Kus firing more regular, a very solid scoring 1 to 7 and proved that last night with an even looking scorecard, that does for sure make them dangerous as they can score points from anywhere!! For the Comets, some very good performances especially Lawson/Bach and good back up from Harrison/Howarth and Morris who, if he would stop fighting his bike all the time and let "it" do the work, would score far more than he does, maybe a bit more dirt would help but then, a bit more dirt would help that track full stop very patchy and caused quite some problems picked up on I'm pleased to say by Rene in his post match interview!! Cracking good ht11 tho between Bach and Ostergaard one of the best races this season but in contrast, what on earth were Howarth and Morris doing in ht14 almost cost us the 3pts trying to take each other off, phew, that was close!!!! All in all a very good 3pts for the team, and an excellent fightback need to carry on the good work at Glasgow today and keep the board ticking over. well done the Comets!! PS, Did anyone else notice the ploy of getting Rene to come last in ht13, by so doing, he deprived Redcar the chance of a tac ride in ht14 for either Dyer/Wilko, we were six up at that time and a 5-1 would have given them the option, distinctly recall seeing Rene slow down at the start of lap 2 when he could have easily passed Summers, just a thought??
  15. Judging by your previous, it would have been worth the entrance money alone to hear you, TaylorJ, cheering for the AntiChrist!!!!
  16. Just out of curiosity then, did the riders agree to the track being watered just before the semi finals or not? Seems a bit strange that if the track was proving to be "good" for them when it was dry, why agree to watering with only 3 races left and, which has been proved to some extent, change the outcome of the meeting, was there a track issue with dust last night? Still, its done now and the Rebels got the result, well done to them and commiserations to Scunny, a good effort by all accounts!! Was there a run off for third place in this event or does that not happen anymore just a tie between Comets/E,boro??
  17. Agreed, the travelling is part and parcel the point I made though was on the basis that Roynon preferred to join Leicester this year rather than the Comets so he could stay in the same area for both clubs, could'nt see him wanting to drive back as far as Workington from there for his home matches when he was only living at Barrow when he was with us and then, take on a job with Glasgow instead? Just didn't make sense to me that's all, other people will have their own opinion, which is fine by me, no worries!!
  18. Could be a tough ask that Screm, Roynon moved to the Midlands to be nearer his girlfriend and Coventry, (not necessarily in that order mind) so hard to see him wanting a long haul trip to Glasgow from there?
  19. After another bad day at the office at least now there are the murmuring's of some changes, cant come soon enough I dare say for all the Tiggers fans!! Karlsson would be a good choice if it comes off maybe take some pressure off Joe Screen, cant be doing him any favours carrying the big scores most weeks with not much back up? Hope you get back to a competitive position soon, preferably starting around June 10th which, to the uninitiated, is the day after the Comets are in town and looking for our only 4pt away win this season!!! That'll stir it!!
  20. Cannot believe that anyone took this as anything other than a joke, stood out like a sore thumb!!!!
  21. As a matter of interest then who could Glasgow bring in to help bolster this team, who's currently available? Dont think these assessed averages are helping either, you expect one or two discrepancies but your top men are supposed to cover for that, unfortunately, Glasgow's top men are in the same boat and carrying no confidence whatsoever which is transferring into the younger riders!! Joe Jacobs showed a lot of potential last night and worth his run in ht15, be a big filip for him that, he certainly would'nt have expected to be in there when he turned up?
  22. Very disappointing match tonight, I had hoped Glasgow would prove the doubters wrong but.... never mind, 3pts is 3pts and I'll take that!! As has been said before, what has happened to James Wright, appalling run out in the TR ride, never tried an ha,porth just is'nt the same rider round here anymore, looked very tentative at times but then, same could be said for Bager poor show there as well and Grieves, shame about him tho, always went well here sad to see him under perform like that, not the rider I expected to see? As for our own, well, can only beat what's in front of you and some big scores to be had all over the place, very impressed with that Lewis Kerr, jesus that lad can gate, gonna cause us some problems when Newcastle are back in town, same as Micky Dyer, just gets better so, will have to hope that moving up into the team has a negative effect on him when Redcar come calling next up!! Do agree with some comments on here about our own missing riders, and yes, our guests have been extremely useful in relation to them and dont doubt for a minute that our's would have struggled in some meetings to score the points our guests have done it would be churlish not to admit that, but we wont be the only side to benefit from the rules so I'll just keep accepting the scores from good guests and be very happy with it, just like everyone else will be when it happens for them!!
  23. Well, my first meeting at DP for nearly a month and after tonight my last for another two weeks thank's to the wonders of the fixture planning?? PL Select v Glasgow, hope it's not as much of a let down as some are forecasting, would like to see a really good match and not a one sided affair? I'm sure Screen/Grieves will offer up the test as they usually go very well here so it's down to how much support the rest can bring to the party to make that happen!! Hope there wont be too many tractor races although I can see a few damping downs happening, been pretty summery here today, wonder if we'll get our first sun delay this week? Need a win tonight to try and keep up with Leicester who seem to be on a bit of a roll with all these four pointers their getting, I'll go for 55-35, thats enough for 3pts!!
