  1. Would hazard a guess that your management may not be of the same opinion as your good self, 8pts up, totally in control then only end up with 1pt when you really should have had the whole lot!! Somerset adapted far better to the conditions than the Comets and almost completely dominated the meeting, but somehow, someway, Comets pulled this out of the fire, two "BIG" 5-1s in the last 3hts turned this meeting on it's head and as previously mentioned, a classic Ht15 which had just about everything you could want from a decider, passing, re passing fast as you like racing, Nick Morris all over Rene, then Rene all over Morris, great stuff!! Hats off to "both" sides for a terrific meeting, some let downs again in the Comets ranks but hey, we got there in the end and two is most certainly better than the "none" we were definitely on the way to getting? I hope that by the business end of the season Comets can actually get "all" of themselves firing at the same time, Lawson lacklustre too often tonight same with Mills, Morris tried hard and was worth a point or two more than he got, Aarnio solid enough without being dangerous and Rusty a bit below par early doors but picked up later on, Rene, does it when he needs to but has to stop the show boating, cost himself a pt or two tonight overdoing it a bit!! Rebels well served throughout with a very solid scoring performance, Ashworth was proving an able deputy for Doyle in his first 3 starts but fell away a bit at the end, Morris quick and reliable as was Davies, Schramm got good pts at reserve, Grazcjonek raced well so did Newman when he made a start otherwise not too good and good experience for Greenwood did probably what was expected of him!! A very good meeting overall tho this habit of producing lumpy tracks at the start needs sorting out, again played into the hands of the opposition and almost cost us the match, we don't ride well on an uneven surface, get it smooth from the off and meetings like this will be fewer and further between, we cant afford to drop points at home too many teams now ride DP as good as we do, stop making it easier for them? Quite right stemoc, far too slow thesedays the BSPA site, must be on their jollies!!
  2. No matter what side Somerset put together they "always" go well at our place, a lot will depend on how they adapt to the smaller/tighter Brough Pk, Doyle should be back too so if they gate as well as they did yesterday they are going to cause a few problems for you for certain!! With things getting tight at the top now don't really know who I'd want to win this, Newky too close for comfort, Somerset far enough away at the moment but matches in hand, I'll take home advantage and say Newky by 6!!
  3. Very good away win for the Comets this after the disappointment in the fours, think it's definitely showing where our priorities lie this season!! Looks like solid scoring throughout tonight so well done to one and all, keeps the points ticking over which it needs to be as I've noticed a few teams starting to get into stride now and are certainly putting the pressure on? Looking forward to seeing this Mikkel Bech up here next week, a rider who certainly sounds entertaining and I'm hoping will show well round DP?
  4. Disappointing for me as a Comets fan to see us miss out on the final, really didn't expect that, but two out of three aint bad!! Well done to the Monarchs on the win, although it does read like you got the rub of the green late on you've still gotta go out and do it? Hope all the lads involved in the crashes are OK, didn't read as being particularly innocuous for them in the reports. Think if I'd gone to this meeting I too would have headed home early, 5hrs+ is an horrendous time to take even if circumstance does dictate some additional, don't remember this event taking so long when it was run up here, (had to get that in) . Worst thing about motorsports events are the breaks in momentum, one or two quickly remedied you can generally get away with but constant restarts/track work/ unreasonable delays for next to nothing reasons does nothing to help the spectacle nor stop people getting bored, then, once serious accidents are thrown in the attention quickly turns to rider health and racing becomes secondary still further, once that happens the outcome of the event is generally irrelevant too many which appears to have been the case here, you cant stop it it's just human nature? Find it strange tho reading the posts on here that the medical cover was so poor for this type of event and at an Elite Lg track to boot, that doesn't look good for speedway at all, so many riders and only the one doctor/ambulance in attendance, (is that correct)? if so it definitely needs to be addressed for the future as does the speed of the event itself, PL speedway is struggling for support at the moment so a bad press like this wont do anything to attract any new customers "nor retain" the existing ones, must do better!!
  5. Quite a few teams being short changed here through one thing and another? Would like to think that this would open the door for more Comets success in this event and we do at least have a full squad available to do it, E,boro/Ipswich to be in there as well for my money but certainly wouldn't rule out any of the others, adversity has a "galvanising" effect!! Hope it's a good meeting for everyone, nice day for it!!
  6. Here's one for ya, how about, it was too hot in Glasgow, too much sun and I wasn't wearing a hat, does that not sound more logical understanding normal Glasgow conditions? . Poor old Joe, slumped a long way from the heady days of "who ate all the pies"!!
  7. Well my predictions for speedway results are as bad as my lottery No's, Lawson/Wells apart Sheff not at the races? Don't think losing Hall would be that much of an excuse either as he didn't appear to be doing too well anyway, Roynon really struggling at the moment and I honestly think the guy has had one crash too many, Haines not the rider he was either and Albin not getting the points he was predicted to get early doors and I wish that Koppe had turned in a two point performance for Somerset the other night against us, would have been in the semi's now!! . Not a good time for Sheff at the moment? As for Newcastle, well you guy's are gonna be hard to beat at home this year absolutely solid throughout hardly a weak link, am hoping for an "off night" for you when we next come a calling coz we are a bit rank at Brough thesedays so we need all the help we can get!!
  8. If Lawson has his gating boots on and Hall/Wells up their game round Brough then Sheff could get a reasonable score pending some support from the ranks, failing that it could be a long hot night!! Go for a Newcastle win by 14. . By the way The Abbott, my enter button doesn't work either, it is a fault being looked into, got a PM from Lioness y,day that it will be flagged up for attention, you are not alone!!
  9. Excellent performance from the guys tonight just what the doctor ordered, convincing win and points all-round, job well done!! . Leicester definitely missed Bjerre tonight, very little support to the top men from Graverson/Branford, Edberg rode far better than his 6pts would suggest and it was nice to see Doolan finally put a score together up here, he was competitive for the first time in a long while? Shame about Karlsson having to pull out late on as, despite the dodgy shoulder, was having a pretty good meeting, Nemo looked good but faded badly towards the end? For the Comets, big show from RL, tho would like him to be a bit more gracious in defeat, (Edberg rode well that race, ht13) doesn't cost owt!! Rene looked more comfortable this week as did Kyle and Rusty, big wraps for Chris and Ashley as well, far more promising performances from them, keep it up guys, and Tero will make some big points as soon as he gets his starts timed better!! Shame we cant get any matches in to keep the momentum going these breaks don't do us any good, another 2wks before our next PL match, lovely weather forecast, nowt doin, can only be a Comets fixture list?
  10. That's a bit unfair there SCB, from what I've read our crashes were pretty good, that takes talent AND skill, especially when our lads get up and walk away!!
  11. Would be nice to get back to winning ways tonight after the disappointment of the last couple of matches!! Shame Bjerre isn't riding tonight as he normally does very well here attacks the track bigstyle, Nemo should do OK as should Doolan both have vast experience of this track, not sure about the rest, Karlsson can go well at times here others not so? Should still be a decent meeting and I'm looking forward to it hopefully the guys wont be too down hearted after last night and will do us a good job?
  12. Absolute sickener this, not far wrong with the prediction but 1pt overall, would rather have been mullered!!! . Still, never mind at least we did what I'd hoped and took the fight to Somerset and made them work a bit, that makes it a little more bearable, and looking on the bright side, it freed up a couple of potential Saturday's for the rain offs!!! Just out of curiosity tho, what would have happened if the scores had been tied, run off or replay? Please excuse the continuous nature of this post, since I was upgraded to IE10, I cannot get paragraph's into this forum for some insane reason, also getting spellchecker, never known that happen before either?? . There was a thread about this somewhere on the forum which has now disappeared, any news on a fix mods?
  13. As long as the Comets turn up and make a match of this I'll be happy, Lawson/Bach went very well here in the pairs so should be able to get among the points again, Rusty not too bad either so if the rest of the boys can chip in a few it may not be as bad as it's being predicted!! . Not expecting the win but at least to keep it tight, I'll go 50-40 and hope for better!!
  14. Quite right TJ, no point making a bad night worse!!
  15. Credit where it's due Gavan, you were the better side and deserved the win!! That's the thing Baldyman you met TaylorJ "before" the meeting!!
  16. Touche, but 29pts would have made better viewing!!
  17. Unfortunately for you Stoney the changes are not being called for on the strength of one home loss or one away win, Heeps and Ellis were very good last night but if your reserves cannot compete at home with better riders where does that leave us when we meet the others? Got to look at the big picture a bit more often my friend!!
  18. Cant believe I'm going to say this but, Charlie Wright is banging some "big" points in at the moment, half a season in the PL, worth a shot don't think he's riding for anyone else this year but I could be wrong? As for sticking by under performing riders, how many major trophies have Comets won in the past by doing exactly that, not many and it wont get any better if we carry on doing it, sometimes you just have to make that tough decision in order to turn things round. It is right that Ashley is young and inexperienced but the fact is he "should" be improving by now in his second full season in the PL and adapting to the system? Don't know whether it's mechanical or mental problems he's suffering with but surely there is someone who can help him out, if us in the stands can see he's not as competitive as he can be then so must those around him? I would love to see the guy come back to some sort of form because we need him to, if you don't have the flexibility to cover the "bad day at the office" days then you really are in trouble, swapping like for like achieves nothing as yesterday showed so in effect that means "both" reserves need to up their game if we are to challenge for the trophies, they are plenty capable of doing it just needs to start happening sometime soon!!
  19. Yes, arrogance is a very "dangerous" trait on a forum, can see the bite marks in his buttocks from here!! Eeeeowww....
  20. Although I expected Ipswich to be far better this time than last, this was "not" the vision I had in mind!! Did say that the reserves would hold the key to this match and my word was I right, Ippo's pairing way too strong for the Comets, absolutely smoked them, very very poor performance from both of our's, although Mills did look a bit quicker and gated better than previous but Morris, well, just going backwards big time, not even remotely dangerous!! I'm sorry if that sounds bad but if the guy cant see his performances are not up to scratch and still shows little sign of turning things around then I'm afraid it should be exit stage left, cant afford to carry him much longer as we approach the business end of the season, every point counts and he, for my money, isnt scoring enough of them, turn it around Ashley, times running out!! As for the rest of the team, Rich/Rene decidedly under par from them tonight, just the odd brief glimpse of what we're used to, Rusty started well but faded a bit, Tero looking better and shouldn't be too long before the bigger scores are back but again star of the show Micky, ( I want to ride for the Comets next year ) Dyer, a great effort from him only spoiled by a crap choice of gates in ht15, (2&4) getting him squeezed out into the fence round 1&2 and unable to get in a blow thereafter? Ipswich superbly led by Ben ( please get an air fence quickly ) Barker, blisteringly quick all night and well supported this time throughout the team in which every rider got a win bar Compton, who still did well tho for an NL rider going at No2, much the more solid team and gated extremely well performing as I had envisaged they should have done in the KO Cup tie but I am well sure that Ipswich would rather have these three points in the league than cup ties? Overall, Ipswich the far better side tonight, thoroughly deserved the win and congratulations to them, as for the Comets, a bad day at the office and one I hope not repeated too many more times, we have scraped through a few matches over the years up here, got away with murder at times perhaps but, it catches up with you eventually and this one got away still, never mind, onwards and upwards, it wont always be bad!!
  21. Well what an excellent win, didnt think we would get one point from Redcar on current form never mind four!! Just shows the difference it can make when everyone chips in with some points especially away from home? Need to keep going and improve our performances on other top clubs track's, who knows what could happen then!! Well done Comets, great effort!!
  22. If our reserves/middle order show up we could nick a point from this, if not, Redcar by 10!!
  23. Should definitely be a closer match than the KO Cup tie, Dyer in for Howarth could give us a bit more middle order clout and possibly some race wins as Kyle cant buy one round DP at the moment, and Aarnio will probably need a few meeting's to get his eye in!! If Barker starts here the way he finished last time he could cause us problems and give momentum to the rest of the team, those riders have performed far better here than the previous so cant take anything for granted? Biggest area in deciding the outcome of this match for me is at reserve, neither set are pulling up any trees and it could very well come down to whomever can pick up those second's and thirds in the important races!! Certainly expect Ipswich to show up this time and make a match of it but still confident of a three pointer, try 51-39!!
  24. This is disappointing, just had a look down the TV listing's for tonight, God, I hate rain off's!!!!
