No Ta, I'd rather see us do it to someone else than the other way around, I can still remember the pain of Crayford 65 Comets 12, 1980 and that's enough unwanted record for me!! -

I remember it Y/B because it was the closest to 70 we ever got and highly unlikely to be repeated I'd say, stick's with me coz I so wanted to see us hit the magic number and to be denied in the last....aaarrrgh??? -

I remember back when Ian Thomas was promoter, probably early/mid 2000,s that we put a score of 69-21 on Newcastle? I can't be 100% certain on the date and records are quite difficult to come by but I'm sure a 5-1 in the last would have put the Comets into that rarefied group of team's making it to 70pts in a speedway meeting....think it was Jason Lyons who prevented that from happening? Pretty sure there will be someone after reading this that can shed some light on it!! -
Now there's a few name's on that playlist I remember from the dim and distant, how time flies!!

With this being on the original fixture list as a genuine Sunday meeting it'll be interesting to see whether it was put there coz we have a full complement of rider's available!! Just have to wait and see, you never know we might get lucky?

Hopefully it's not that serious, when you're having a hard time that's the last thing you need? -

Couldn't agree more, very poor track, little or no passing, 15 fast FTG races? Bit of an arm wrestle to get the job done tho with a couple of, shall we say, under par performances but a wins a win and stopping Ipswich getting anything is a bonus considering how well they were going? Any news on Schlein after the meeting ended, had to make an abrupt exit tonight and never heard anything else beforehand, took a right clout into the fence.... hope he's OK!! -

Schlein does ride well here, Cumberland Open champion this year but.....confident of a comfortable win for Comets 53-37. -

He's normally very good round our place Baldy, just back from injury the other week with Scunny so a little bit of a tentative 10pts that night, should be much better now!! -

IS, if the power's that be didn't allow themselves to be dictated to by others on the use/cover of rider's in Europe, none of this would be happening? If riders are being used abroad to the detriment of their UK club that club should be allowed adequate replacement facilities "not" a 2pt rider to replace a 7pt heat leader, it's a no brainer that clubs will look for an off especially at this time in the season? I have no doubt that if a decent facility had been in place for the original Scunny meeting it would have gone ahead then, not a week or so back, it isn't so we are where we are? The thing is, calling a meeting off is easy rearranging it isn't, once plans are in place it's highly unlikely anything will work as well as you'd like it to further down the line?

Just another finger pointing thread? We all know that both parties have to take responsibility for the way this season has panned out, Workington for not making better use of the "barren spells" during the first 3mths or so and now the SCB!! After initially saying we couldn't race on Friday because too many teams were racing on that night, they agree to half a season's worth of fixtures instead, then, having seen how dangerous we've become, they pull the rug out and make us rearrange meetings with teams whom have a vested interest in not putting themselves out of contention by fielding a weak side at DP outside of their best laid plans? No one will help anyone in speedway thesedays because teams are full of riders wanting to maximise the benefits to themselves rather than their clubs so it's no surprise that no one will switch race nights if their top men are elsewhere and facilities allowed to cover are less than perfect like for like swaps, until that is looked into and proper arrangements made to cover absences then this situation will just carry on dragging British speedway down?

The way he was riding before the heavens opened up I'd say quite a few club's would like a berk like him? -
As this is an "official" fixture yet Comets management are looking at no more than NL guests to fulfill this meeting they must either be very confident of winning with four men and three reserves or, very confident it'll be rained off and it won't cost as much? If this meeting does go ahead I can honestly say I feel for the Newcastle public being lumbered with this, it's not what they expect for the money paid and quite simply they shouldn't have to.

Is there a chance we could employ Adam Roynon for Sunday, he's still racing isn't he? -

This farce of a season just get's more farcical the longer it goes on? Hopefully a nice rain storm will engulf Brough Park on Sunday and we can save another fixture for a later date? -

What is Rene's average anyway, would it not be that if he's say a six pointer shouldn't we be able to have a six pointer to replace him, how would that be fair on us if we could only use a NL guest at perhaps 2/3pts? (PS) I dont understand the average business anymore, gave up trying years ago when I bought a rule book?
