Workington V Edinburgh (lc) 12/4/14 @ 7pm

Thank's for the effort Al and as you suggest it is pretty inconclusive, but then, what would we do with the evidence if we proved the ref was wrong? My thought's exactly, so much so that I had the result marked up as a win for Cook coz I saw him over the line first by at least half a wheel if not more, spoiled my programme that!! -

It does when we are there!! Excellent, any chance of a freeze frame Al? Agree there DD, Steve does get "very" excited, love it!! Well we may have been beat but we do still like those Ht15 wins especially over our erm "favourite" son , don't think it was anything personal over the track grading, it was just that a rumour had been circulated that a rider had seen some dirt out there and just wanted it spread around a bit better? Never mind my friend I'm sure the burden of carrying that 4pt away win will ease in time!! -

Have to agree with these comments, Ash does seem to be missing that spark that will move him up to the next level, whether that be better equipment or even a better spanner man is open to debate but with this being his third PL season I would have expected him to be up around the 6pt mark minimum by now and bossing the reserves races, especially at home and not still bumbling around on 2/4pts like he is now? Don't wish him any ill feeling at all but he really does need to start making that progression some time soon!! Agreed, one hell of an effort from where he started!! Yes, but credit where it's due Al, he still had to be in a position to take advantage of Fricke's misfortune the guy wasn't stopping, 4th bend last lap and, just as an aside as no one has mentioned it yet, did anyone see whether Fricke actually "did" finish second in that race, from where I was Campton mugged him for all money? Really hoping now for the mobile/Ipad/tablet photo to be posted, it always happens!! -

Well, it's back to the drawing board again!! E,boro easily the better team tonight showing up some shortcomings in the Comets, too many underperforming riders for us to have ever really stood a chance of winning? Too often outgated but basically didn't have anything in the locker to overhaul an E,boro side whom could easily call on as many riders as they wished to turn up trumps when they needed them!! Worrall outstanding at reserve with fairly good support, at least at the beginning, from Sedgmen but Masters/Fricke proved to be the aces in the hole, some great points gathering from them, Cookie, too much expected from him but still delivered enough to suggest he'll be one of the PL's top men again? As for the Comets, Josh, a little inconsistent tonight but produced some great rides, same with Rene, getting his form back but gating needs work!! As for the rest, well, a pretty moderate effort really just didn't get going until we were too far under the pump and got shown tonight that that sort of form wont cut it against the best teams, getting a little concerned about Kyle just not scoring enough points, seemed too have the speed just not close enough to make it count, Campton looked good at times so, improving but Ash/Chris serious, didn't look good at all, they can/must do better if were to get something from this season, cant afford to carry anyone again, it has to happen? Overall tho, some very good racing and it was good to see and, although we probably wont qualify for this tournament's final stages, the good thing is at least it will free up a couple of extra Saturday's for rain off's!! -

Will be very happy with any score that produces 3pts to be honest, E,boro always go well here so expecting a very difficult match especially if our reserves don't up the ante? Cant afford to drop points at home in this competition, it will prove very costly as I cant see anyone taking anything from E,boro at Armadale so it's going to be a points difference outcome for me in this group so we need to get as many as possible? Cookie max tonight one would suspect, far too good now for the PL!! -

Hopefully, this will be an interesting match up, it would be nice to see the Comets produce a decent performance this time around at Armadale, not nowadays a happy hunting ground for us but with Josh and Ricky going pretty well and Rene starting to look like his old self, we could worry E,boro especially with some solid support from Mason and Kyle and likewise at the tail end with Chris and Ash!! Don't see too much beating Cookie round there but we are more than capable, on a good day, of taking care of the rest which should yield us a good result, not entirely confident of the win but certainly confident of keeping this close and nicking a point!! -
Workington Vs Glasgow - Lc - Sat 29/3/14 7pm
Lord Lucan replied to Django's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Very solid team performance tonight from the Comets with Rene the stand out ably followed by Josh!! Positive signs from the rest of the guys, with a mention in dispatches for Schrammy, of better thing's to come, Millsy starting to look the rider better machinery always promised, really pleased for him, Kyle still rubbish at starting but at least looked more comfortable tonight and Mason certainly improved on the drier track!! Racing not brilliant but enough promise there to show we will be particularly difficult to shift at DP this year and, hopefully, quite a few away as well?? As for Glasgow, I don't think they will be anywhere near as bad this time around once they get together, some very useful young riders in their side who did show more than a modicum of talent for the future, Thomsen very good the more the meeting went on and I thought young Berge showed a bit of promise despite not worrying the judge, who knows what confidence he would have got from a race win tonight, had he not fallen off while in front, and a good effort from Lykke Nielsen!! Think the experienced riders let Glasgow down a little tonight, certainly expected more from them round here than we got but hey, bit more track time and they will be more awkward to beat but a few positives definitely to take from tonight, some good lads there!! -
Reads as tho this was a very entertaining match!! Good to see a solid team effort from the Comets away from home, auger's well for the coming season, injuries aside nothing stopping either of these clubs being in the mix come October time, from what I've seen so far two very competent sides!! One trophy down now for the rest??

Workington V Newcastle Sat 22nd March 2014
Lord Lucan replied to ciderman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not a bad start from the Comets, shame about the rogue shower tho, thought we were just getting going when that happened along? Several Comets definitely looking short of track time but very impressed with Josh/Ricky very good start indeed from them, has the making's of an accomplished side once we get everyone going but, think this years comp is staying on Tyneside, Newky have some good gaters in their outfit which showed several times tonight and if they keep doing that it will make them a very handy side this year!! Looking forward to a competitive season now were up and running, this should hopefully set us straight for the LC and we can make some progress in that competition, can only get better and certainly will do, game on!! -
Thank's Nutz, had a look, quite an impressive structure, even tho the colours are wrong, problem for me is the amount of room it is taking out of the track, may just be the angles of the photos but that does look rather a lot, still, find out if it is soon enough!!
-
Thank's for that Dave, much appreciated.

Any updates available please on the new air fence!! Was supposed to be arriving sometime in February if I remember rightly but haven't seen or heard anything about it?
-
Thank's Gazc, think that's the equilibrium restored!!

Quoting post 623 from Toontrader, Does this fixture list not now include the Ian Thomas Trophy, very short lived if it doesn't or was it always just going to be a one off?
-
Thank's for that DD, I had swore blind he was around 2012, had to have been which is why I didn't understand the reference to this, "THJ" from Jenga? AF, it's no wonder that you edited that post!!
-
Surprised that no one has specified this already but, didn't Campton ride for Glasgow in 2012 or is time drifting by even quicker than I thought? He made quite a few guest appearances for us once upon a time and 2011 seems a fair old time to be not racing in the PL but still be talked about as a signing for 2/3 years later, that's what I mean!! He was supposed to be here for the 2013 season just finished so he should have been here in 2012 to make himself known and agree to come in the first place? You have to remember that 2012 is still regarded as "last year" yet, in a few days time, it will be "two years ago" so my mind could be playing tricks and it was 2011 when he last rode in the UK, Glasgow fan please step forward!! Still, I'm not that fussed, as long as he does the job next year as good as the job that "he was" doing whenever he "was" around, then I'll be quite content with that!! Calling Nighthawk are you receiving me over!!!
-
Notice your having trouble with the "unresponsive quote" button there Jenga??? As a matter of interest though, what exactly are you on about!!
-
One or two surprise inclusions in the team and "on paper" looks very solid and competitive once again, at least our promotions give us some decent teams to watch if not necessarily the most successful, can only hope that this season, finally, get's us what we want!! Was glad to see the worst kept secret in speedway, (Ricky Wells) coming to Workington, think his away form will be of great importance to the team as he seems very adaptable to most of the PL track's so should be quite an asset, same with Campton if he can pick up where he left off in 2012? Surprised at Grazcjonek moving here, always looked very handy the times I've seen him and although he's not the big points man that Doyle was at Somerset, his consistent 10pts scoring will be invaluable!! Would really round off a good side if these Nicki Pedersen bikes help Chris Mills turn the corner, caught in the Catch22 last year I really hope this time works out much better and we get the rider he always could be!! Overall, very happy going into the winter month's, don't think we could have gotten a much better team with the limits available so looking forward now to seeing what it can do on the track!! By the way, have you seen the trailers for my new two part drama starting this month, how ironic is that??
-
Oh no, not you again!!!
-
Many congratulations to Somerset, after a season where 40+ pts home and away in virtually every match was the norm, a level of consistency of that calibre deserves to have it's rewards so a thoroughly good job very well done!!
-
What a sad state of affairs, I can only assume that there are certain elements around Ashfield who do not like the idea of another season with Speedway!! Can only hope that no one was around working at the time? Who owns the ground though the Speedway or the Football club, if it's the latter then unfortunately they would be the ones bearing the cost of repairs not the Speedway club unless of course it's a shared option?
-
You do like your Kenny Ingalls theory there comet49, will be interesting to see what direction the promotion take with him if at all as he will have been out for two seasons by start time, bound to have an attractive average by now tho and if the old Ingalls is still there well!!! For my money I'm still on the Ricky Wells train, he wasn't here Saturday for nothing, shop window, definitely!!
