  1. Wells style reminds me very much of Scott James, very upright, almost armchair like and completely missing the dynamic factor you get from a racer? Quite agree about the starting though, very much an EL trait, miss it and your toast!!
  2. Excellent result for Newcastle, didn't expect this so, well done, side may be cobbled together but you've still gotta do it on the track!! Deciding factor though was clearly the re-emergence of "Diamonds" team sheet putting fear into the "Newky" management, a very potent weapon, be afraid, be very afraid!!
  3. Agree entirely OSS, Morris's lack of points scoring this year cruelly exposed Mills at the bottom end leaving us very weak at crucial times, throw in the technical problems/high av's from the middle order and we were never in a position to move riders around? Mills has to take the lion's share though, it's his responsibility to ride quicker!! But re-declare with whom, haven't heard any names yet? Going to have to be pretty careful with this as I've read on here the talk of dropping another rider to get "two" better one's in, probably just talk but if that is on the cards then Comets are going to have to move PDQ to get something sorted for Thursday?
  4. No probs then chaps, definitely "not" a goer this time!!
  5. Excellent, knew you hadn't lost it Diamonds, pre season seems such a long time ago!!
  6. Had that air of inevitability this although despite earlier reference in other posts, I had no idea this was going to happen? With the advent of new machinery and optimism at the start of the season I really hoped Chris would kick on and do what he knows he can do and early signs were good but, for some reason, his form has tailed off of late and in a side where inconsistency is rife at the moment, there is no hiding place? Hope he get's fixed up somewhere, possibly even an NL team to get his confidence back would be better than nothing, Best Wishes to him, he is better than he's shown lately and I'm sure that form will come back under more agreeable circumstances!!
  7. Early call off, think he lives around Manchester way so the idea was feasible enough, didn't see what the call off time actually was and I'm not that anal to be honest although in the end it doesn't matter a jot!! That's the meeting I was thinking of myself!!
  8. Just a thought, as the Lakeside v Poole match is now off would that allow Josh G to ride here in place of Robson or does this now stay as is?
  9. Quite, agree with you there, hit n miss definitely but not a shambles, not yet anyway!!
  10. No, come on Diamonds, post them up, I haven't seen any of your selections in ages, I'm missing them already!!
  11. Quite so and I hope they will, too many broken promises over the years lends itself to the scepticism!! Didn't get the gist of the post Screm, season started in March not 3 matches ago? (Think long term) We are getting to be a hard lot to please because we keep getting fed a diet of top quality teams on paper who then don't do it on the track for one reason or another, our away form is patchy at best so your quote of a 4pt away win is a little hypothetical to say the least, we "should" be able to adapt to Berwick as tracks are similar it just doesn't always work out that way? Gonna need a lot of your riders to fall off the wagon tonight, overcome by the emotion of winning at our place in order to turn you over, cant see it happening but as in the alternative thread, I am hopeful of 1pt at least, which, will be a nice start!!
  12. Will need a big turnaround in mental toughness to get a result tonight after yesterday's performance, still hopeful that we cant be as bad again so will stick my neck out for a point!!
  13. At the start of this season many clubs would have given their right arm for the side Comets had on paper and there is the rub, experience has now taught us that the lily was well and truly gilded, and not just by the Comets, many other's had us down as Championship material? Though this PL campaign has barely started the crack's are blatantly obvious with the inconsistent performances of too many rider's to make us anywhere near a winning side to be feared? Like other's have said, Josh is a regular performer, the odd slip here and there but generally the "go to" man, Mason, can do better and maybe a spell in another position could help, Ricky, too much focussed on the EL, miss the start and he's playing second fiddle, Kyle, just wont relax and let the bike do the work, costing him big style, Rene, will never be the rider he was, crash weigh's too heavily in the background to see any improvement from the 8/10pts man we're seeing. Chris, just hasn't got it anymore, really hoped he would have cracked on this year but is seemingly just making up the number's and Ash is only getting there but too slowly for me and can easily do better if, like Kyle, he stopped fighting and smoothed out his style? We're not dead and buried just yet but a lot of meeting's have gone by to keep blaming gremlins, we have to get ourselves together and start bringing the results in before the season slips too far away for us to get into it, maybe changes will have to happen but whom/where and when is another matter?
  14. That's a bitter disappointment, what on earth happened there? Not able to be there tonight due to work but judging by the updates site it looked like off nights for a few too many Comets riders? Any road up, looked to be a useful performance from the Bandits, served well again by Jensen at reserve and a better night from Vissing, clearly looks like they deserved the win so, fair play to them, very handy 4 pointer!! As for the Comets, well, I don't think we will have anyone quaking in their boots for the foreseeable, too many inconsistent performers at the moment and it does beg the question, are too many of our riders really trying for us or leaving the best of themselves in the EL. time will tell and for some that time could be shorter than they think?
  15. In reverse to the home fixture, think the Bandits will be too good here for us, hope to nick a point!!
  16. Cant make this meeting, unable to do weekday's due to work commitments!! Comets should be too strong for the Bandits so looking for a similar score to the LC of 50-40 and 3PL pts!!
  17. Now that this has finally been sorted, how long before we make progress as to whom play's who?
  18. In through the back door but, semi's it is and anything can happen so, let's wait and see? Seems to have been a relatively solid performance throughout tho too many e/f's for Ash would have weakened us still further at reserve than usual, certainly think that Berge was the missing link for Glasgow today, liked him when he was at Worky early doors and seems too have progressed pretty well, couldn't see us qualifying if he'd been there today, much better than 4pts? I'll take this result tho as you can only beat what's there at the time and it would have been a poor show had we not taken advantage of a misfiring Tigers team, we can improve and will probably need to to win this but, you never know, we are plenty good enough, just got to show it more often on the track!!
  19. Don't worry about it D58, it's just Jenga's wish list, not very likely to happen but, he can dream as can we all!!
  20. These speed camera's are having a very detrimental effect on the entertainment value down your way, think Somerset management need to have a quiet word with the local constabulary!!
  21. It does look like a poor forecast so gotta hope that it just passes by, need this fixture to be run so the semi's can be sorted for sometime in September!! Comets should win but that's not a complete gimme so I'll take a chance, if we race, of 41-49?
  22. If they'd had them last Friday they wouldn't have got any speeding tickets out of the Comets?
  23. Weather nowhere near as bad as predicted all day today, (Saturday) so that must be a good sign for tomorrow, hope it blows by again!! Be good to watch Steady, hope he gets further than the first corner, been too long since I saw the best of him up here, looking forward to it already!!
  24. Quite agree with you OSS, 400 miles and my job gave you a distinct advantage in that department, figures can be deceiving same can also be said to the Rebels fans who thought their Ht Leaders were rubbish at DP? Reserve pairing did let us down substantially in comparison but I disagree that Mills days are numbered, getting rid of riders who underperform is not in the DNA of Comets management, we've suffered many times and not just at reserve with this lack of progress from certain areas and I'm sure it has cost us in recent times? Think Mills will get an extended run during the league campaign to see how things develop, the new machinery was supposed to herald a new start for him this year but unfortunately that is not happening in the way I'm sure he too would have hoped, especially away from DP? If replacements were to be sought then I would have had half an eye on the U21,s semi at Leicester tonight, Howarth/Morris in that so who better to ask if they saw any talent that could prove useful, don't ask, don't get? Would like to think that we can bounce back and make progress in the League but as has been said already, this culling of riders for EL matches instead of PL matches could be very troublesome, 4 riders come under that cloud for us and it "could" become significant later on!!
