  1. Tremendous effort from a patched up side just to get the win never mind any pts, that was not even on the agenda with four races to go against an Ipswich side who rode particularly well to stay in the contest with a solid/grafting performance? But for the same riders to then collapse an 8pt lead into a four point loss says more for the determination of the Comets than any failings of the Witches, just outgated and out fought by a team that simply wanted this win more!! Quite agree that Ipswich deserved something for the effort they put in, it would have been an injustice to see them go away empty handed as they have provided one of the better opponents I've seen this season so fair play to them for that. Great performance from Josh, fine back up from Rene and Thomas, Lambo, what a transformation, where did that performance come from some fantastic rides to keep us in this, Taylor battled hard for little reward while Mason, looking a bit better tonight, is definitely missing the spark from the early doors paid max he banged in, really needs to up his game a bit I think, we're missing that scoring!! Consistent scores from the Witches throughout the team with only Ellis and Manzares missing out but still showing signs of ability nonetheless, as for the other's, Worrall not quite as free scoring as he used to be round here but still good enough, Tungate rode well but never looked better than second all night, Risager had one of his better meetings here while Heeps looked capable if not spectacular, Hawkins set off like a house on fire and is scoring very well at the moment, but he fell away a bit in his last two rides having given the impression of being the ace in the hole for late switches of rider? All in all, a very good meeting spoiled a little by the excessive dust late on, too much grading not enough watering, it was like being back in the seventies, aah yes, the good old days!!
  2. A satisfactory return for Josh last night but I'm not expecting the 10/12/15pt scores from him against Ipswich, if we are to get enough together to win the 3pts it's going to have to be a proper team effort with everyone chipping in!! Good weather forecast so looking forward to a decent meeting, certain that Ipswich will come to do battle against the cobbled together Comets with a view to getting something, but quiet confidence from me suggests a win by 8pts!!
  3. Any No1's available on short notice if Josh's comeback at Coventry tonight doesn't go well?
  4. Wa Wa Waaaaaaaaaa, Thank You very much, I'm here all week!!! Dont give up the day job mate?
  5. Will improve even quicker now he's spending a few matches guesting for us, we dont seem to be looking much further at the moment and his scores are quite solid and consistent with the return's that Morris was averaging?
  6. Gonna be tough whatever, Ipswich seem to be running a bit of form at the moment, deffo need good cover for the engine room, some good choices there Birks has ridden for us before while Jorgensen/Howe usually go pretty well around here but then, who doesn't!!
  7. Correct, might have got two races in at best, definitely not the full six?
  8. Excellent result for the Comets, within the Mick Horton 10pts, even more delighted with that, sets the 2nd leg up very nicely!!
  9. Gonna be a big ask to keep this close, if we can keep it to the Mick Horton 10pts I'll be delighted with that!!
  10. No it wasn't, his trailing leg got caught under the bike going into turn one, straightened him up going into bend two, just about managed to get off the track by the exit of said turn before collapsing on the ground, one of those whiplash type events that seriously hurt at the time!!
  11. Judging by said report, it may now be worth looking into extra medical cover at DP for future events? Quote was 28 ambulances and 5 rapid response in Cumbria/Nth Lancs area on Saturday but injury to Kyle wasn't deemed serious enough to divert an emergency ambulance hence the 66 minute wait that would have ensued!! They may have set a precedent here, for less than serious injuries, but injuries none the less that need hospital treatment, can we now afford to risk losing another fixture due to losing the only ambulance we currently have in doing the transporting ourselves?
  12. Thank's for that Neil, used to have a rule book once upon a time til I realised you needed a new one every year!!
  13. Assuming a straight run from all points, allowing for a standing start and a slow down phase then an uninterrupted 60mph blast would start you from, North- Somewhere in Dumfries and Galloway, East - Appleby, South- Just North of Kendal or Barrow, West - sunk and no use to anyone!! Quite correct, absolutely nothing else better to do!!
  14. Also shows up the intellect of everyone else!! (Yeah, your right, I don't have it)
  15. If that's the case then I wish he'd roll a bit quicker, been pretty sh*te out the starts when I watch!!
  16. If the Kyle incident had been Ht10 and not Ht9 a result could have been called quite legitimately without recourse to anything!! St John Ambulance are hired for the events as has been suggested, don't know at what cost or how many are deemed necessary for anyone time, but in over 40yrs on and off of watching speedway at DP, and I'll say it again, I've never known a county ambulance fail to arrive for "ANY" incident that required one!! It may very well be a sign of the times and I sincerely hope that it doesn't happen again but to just blame the Comets management for an event outside of their control is just wrong, yes, we were caught out this time but hindsight is a wonderful thing, crowds are down at Worky, as is everywhere else so the revenue isn't coming in the way it once did and these factors are always at the forefront of the decision making no matter how much people will feel aggrieved about them? What hasn't helped now, as it's turned out, was the initial light hearted comment about the meeting needing to be speeded up so the Ref could get back for the footy, that and the other comments of slow repairs are just exacerbating an unfortunate state of affairs that was never meant to happen, of course people have a right to feel angry but sometimes events will overtake the best laid plans and this is one of them? Very sorry for the supporters who made the trip, costs a lot of money thesedays and this is the last thing you want to happen, but as I said earlier, one more race and the result stands anyway, maybe E,boro would have preferred that I don't know but if that were the case then why agree to call it off?
  17. Just in case anyone's interested, there were 9hts of racing last night, not the best to be fair, bit processional mostly, but getting better as the night wore on!! Cookie won the opening salvo of the grudge match with Lawson, always that bit too far ahead for Rich to get a blow in, apart from that, Worrall looked very impressive and is an absolute steal for E,boro racing at no7, Sedgmen was poor and without doubt would have been replaced by Worrall in his last, Fricke looked OK, Sneddon was poor also, not the rider I remember, Masters just starting to get going after a poor opener and Fox was only moderate!! Comets, Lawson was looking good, Campton again was too slow and too easily beaten off, Wells just doesn't seem interested, body language said a lot and couldn't even get passed Fox, Howarth tried hard, probably too hard and just making life difficult for himself, Rene,s poor starting is costing him big style, did well to catch Masters in his first and lucky to stay on while almost locking up in front of Fricke, Lambert was steady and looking better while Poole was scoring some useful points and looked to be improving with each race!! Comets deserved to be in front but once Howarth's injury had it's effect E,boro were just getting started on a comeback and things could have got pretty squeaky bum for the last 6 races, would have been tough for the Comets to hang on, not saying we wouldn't have, just been tougher!! Hope Kyle's injury isn't serious, really cant afford to run r/r for too long, never seems to work out very well for us and there are some tough matches coming up shortly, life at the coalface just got harder!!
  18. You have a "small" point for this year Steve, but this happens a lot to us, very thin schedule for the first 3 months then everything for the last 3, no wonder we never win owt, always go better fresh!!
  19. That is a strange one and I certainly never heard that mentioned over the mike? 66 miles in nearly all directions from Workington puts that second ambulance outside the county boundaries so that cant possibly be right surely? Round trip of maybe and "66 mins" to do it in, possibly, but that's gotta be a misunderstanding, I know we're not over populated in these parts but that's not an auspicious outlook for the rest of us should we be desperate for an ambulance?
  20. Your not alone, Comets only had four matches scheduled for June, the first one was tonight so chopped off at the knees for starters, a LC semi on Tues then home games 21st and 28th, got 7 next month tho!!
  21. He would be quite handy for us as well, cover for Ashley!!
  22. Well, you never know, something might come out of this but as I said, it's the first time I can ever remember it happening!! Yeah, could very well be the answer, if I'm not mistaken Comets always had the names of three Doctors printed in the programme but I only ever saw Doc Butler, that may be a few years ago now but definitely remember seeing them there, cutback's again?? If only mate, if only!!
  23. Apart from the old "weather" chestnut, I can never understand why speedway doesn't specify a certain week to run each round of it's Cup competitions, surely it would go someway to alleviating this farce we have now of just picking your own time for as and when it suits, seems to work OK in other sports?
