  1. Being as this is now a dead rubber I'm hoping it's going to be a no holds barred of a match both teams should be at full strength, weather is looking good so far so here's to the prospect of seeing a cracking good meeting!!
  2. I've got an excuse.... I'm on the run, as for the rest of your post you've stated and answered the enigma that is Workington Speedway??
  3. At least that's the pain over for another year, marginal improvement on last season being as we've actually won a match away this time but this meeting was never going to be anything other than a getting it out of the way excercise? Poor shows by Hansen/Vissing, Campton's was to be expected but that's awful reading, wheelie's a hundred yds back so, you could very well be right J, Goodnight Vienna from me, wonder if he'll show on Saturday after that? Still have a couple of attractive looking matches at home but what will we do in them, some of our guys really look like they've turned it in for the season already, hope I'm wrong and we show what we really can do but somehow that little shamozzle I heard about on Saturday night seems to have had a bit of an adverse effect?
  4. In this day and age you will never have a neutral track be it PL or EL due to all the doubling up but, Belle Vue would be my choice also, relatively central, easy enough to access and about as close to neutral nirvana, albeit in name only, as we're likely to get? Wow, that's horrendous, that's almost bordering on the infamous kids line, "are we nearly there yet"!! PS, Where are my manners, absolutely delighted to see Steady win this, after all he's been through it couldn't have gone to a better bloke, top man!!
  5. I had to go back and read those comments on the updates site after looking thru some of these posts just to find out what all the fuss was about? Didn't see anything offensive, abusive or critical for that matter just a bit repetitive of the same thing, kinda like watching DAVE!! Having watched Rene Bach deteriorate over his last couple of seasons with us to the point of being happy just to achieve his average while riding at DP it was almost inevitable that coming back to Britain to ride after saying he wasn't and ending up in the PL again, our paths would cross at some point, last night was that occassion, and a 14pt haul riding like we knew he could was always a possibility? It's that feeling of disappointment that Rene didn't put that sort of effort in while wearing a Comets bib that's coming across to me in those quotes, it's the texters opinion and he's probably not alone in thinking them but, what can you do, these things happen and when you lose badly at home as a result well, that just exacerbates the situation?
  6. Pretty sure all of our parade laps are done "minus their helmets"!!
  7. Very disappointing performance from the Comets especially after the win last night, certainly didn't expect that kind of a loss? Had a look thru the updates and it looks pretty much the one sided affair the score would suggest, some below average scoring from several Comets riders but, in all honesty, Glasgow just appear to have been the better side all round and deserved the win? I suppose that curtails any lingering hope of squeezing into the play offs that we may have had but, to be fair, we haven't ridden well enough away from home to be anywhere near dangerous to anyone left in it so, probably a good thing to be despatched good and proper now rather than lingering about hoping? Certainly not looking forward to the LC Semi after this unless we are prepared to give it the last hurrah, nothing else to play for, all guns blazing attitude that it's going to take to shift not just Glasgow but Sheff/Somerset as well, going to be a very tough ask now, confidence will be down but, you always have to hope otherwise, what's the point of it all? It's a shame I couldn't make this match to judge the quality of Glasgow myself but looking at the score I think pretty safe to say they'll be up there with a big say in anything they have to compete in, look a very solid and capable side, maybe a slight question mark on some away tracks but, when needs must I wouldn't write them off anywhere, best of luck fella's!! Stay safe people, that sounds like a bad accident up there!!
  8. Almost two seasons to get our first PL win away from home, fantastic, if only we'd started earlier and in the words of the great Jim Bowen, take a look at what you "could have done"!! (Might need to be a certain vintage to get that little play on words)?
  9. Will only be there in spirit tonight but still confident of a home win, albeit, a very narrow one!! 46-44
  10. Would be a better day for me if they did, I would be able to make that, weather permitting?
  11. Comets have enough riders whom normally go very well round Peterborough so, as the Panthers will be shagged by the time they have raced Rye that should be good enough incentive for us to get at least 40pts on the board or, maybe even more!! I'm feeling optimistic!!
  12. Back in the dim and distant J "we were" part of Scotland, I guess that's why it rains here so much especially on Saturday's? Hope we dont go down the double header route next Saturday, gonna miss the Glasgow match due to work anyway so I cant afford to have the Reb's up as well otherwise I'll miss this season's two best teams in one hit!!!!!
  13. Judging by the number of posts regarding Berwick's off track activities I reckon this meeting must have been as poor as the odd post or two have described it, clearly read's like there wasn't an awful lot of anything to write home about?
  14. Here's hoping that we get a little bit more good fortune tonight than we have had during the last couple of weeks? We seem very much to be down on morale at the moment and the off track antics have certainly not helped in that regard, if we can put the past behind us and concentrate on the here and now we should be OK for the win, home form being what it is, and I think a 49-41 victory will do very nicely!!
  15. Another poor performance on the road again, just never gets any better? I think the Comets have effectively given up trying to win away from home and are just looking to end another miserable season ASAP, only two league matches left away from DP at Newky and P,boro so, no joy likely there, if we can get a full house of home wins our efforts this season will be a mirror image of last year, 12 wins at home and one draw and 11 losses away, effectively showing no improvement at all? Dont know what's happening, cant understand what's happened, it's a really decent looking team as usual on paper yet it just doesn't fire on the track for reasons known to neither man nor beast, something has to give as not even winning at home will guarantee support over any length of time, we need success in competition home and away because without it we have no future?
  16. Worst performance from the Comets I've read about for ages, tragic, but at least we now know a change of team boss isn't the answer either? Really cannot understand how the same team can be so totally different to the one that races at DP whenever it crosses the Border into anywhere else, we really are an enigma and wholly kidding ourselves if we believe we have any chance of qualifying for the play offs, on this sort of display I would try for seventh, it's safer? Looking like another very early finish to our season again, might reach October if we get some rain offs or, Glasgow keep us waiting for the LC Semi!!
  17. Cant see anything but a straightforward home win, RR did nothing for us at Redcar and cant see it being any different here? If we can make 40pts I'd be happy with that but this will be very tough for us?
  18. Reads like I've missed a good one, valuable three pts for the Comets but I like to see the opposition rewarded with pts for close meetings and Ipswich certainly looked to be value for at least the one they got!! whether home wins alone is going to be enough for us to qualify for the play offs is open to question, going to struggle I think but, you never know?
  19. Very disappointing performance again at Glasgow by us, just really seem completely unable to transfer our home form to any away tracks in the PL? It's not looking good at the moment with Somerset and now Glasgow putting us to the sword, I can hardly see us beating either of just those two over two legs in anything to be in with a chance of any silverware, just simply cannot understand it? Perhaps Glasgow today were just plain better than us but surely we could have competed far more than we did, our guys should be well used to these tracks by now to be showing up much more than we currently do?
  20. Thank's Steve, my eyes saw one thing, my ears heard another and now I have a messy programme? Maybe waited for him to win a race before getting his own back?
  21. Happy enough with that, good three pts won and nice to see the real Rasmus turn up tonight, looked sharp and fast and worthy of his 11pts, I hope that's him turning the corner!! An all round performance from the team tonight in increasingly difficult conditions but full marks to both sides tho for whizzing thru and giving us the full 15 races for our tenner's and, throwing in some pretty good ones as well!! Comets looking good at home but we need some away pts now to start bridging the gap, we're already slipping way behind the top four and a top six finish is looking tight, some good teams in and around that area so, let's get moving, onwards and upwards!! Out of curiosity, was it just me or did I hear Matej Kus get awarded the race win when he was clearly second behind Lewis Rose when Hansen was excluded mid race? Definitely saw Rose go by Kus, saw Williamson pull up and restart, never saw where Hansen went off but "definitely" didn't see Kus win, now whether my glasses got fogged up or I got my riders mixed up I dont know but can someone put me out of my misery, Rose was second at flag fall, yes!!
