What’s in a name ??
Racin Jason 72 replied to Racin Jason 72's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I believe it nearly killed the promotion financially -
Now lakeside are going to relocate to Rye House what are they going to call the team. The obvious is the Rye House hammers but will that alienate some fans from both sides ? Historically cradley at stoke. The Scottish monarchs. Boston riding at kings Lynn. Coventry riding at Leicester and cradley riding at Birmingham have all been unsuccessful to a degree. I think in this case lakeside should retain the name for the remainder of this season and next season the team should revert to Rye House rockets. Would this stop lakeside fans attending ??? Or will the rocket fans support a lakeside team ?? intresting times ahead. I’m just glad we are not loosing another team. Very intrested to know what the views are of the rockets and hammers supporters are.

Stoke v Brummies NL Sat 1st Sep

Just to add some balance. Jason pipe today on Facebook was very complimentary about the track and extra lighting with its own generator and generally saying the Tattum and his team had done a very decent job. -

Well I hope Ipswich stay in the championship. Don’t want to return to the top flight personally -

Really enjoyed my first visit to the NSS. Despite the wet track we enjoyed some terrific racing in a great stadium. I parked in the stadium car park as suggested and failed to have the brunch in the Peter craven suite instead having a burger from downstairs. I’m sure as it was about 11am it must have been kept warm from the last colts meeting !! presentation was first class as Hayley kept everyone informed of the delays which you could hear clearly and chase the ace was very good value too with good crowd participation. Very much looking forward to returning very soon. Plus not one single hold up going or returning on my 450 mile round trip !!!!!! -

Best wishes to Dan for a full and speedy recovery. I’m making the trip up tomorrow from Ipswich for my first visit to the NSS. I’ve booked tickets for the grandstand. Any advice regarding parking and eating at the stadium or any other useful information I might need ?? -

What happened to the 5 year plan when stoke went down a level?

Amazing result. Looking at the teams on paper stoke should have won comfortably i read on Facebook during the day that jacks grandfather is terminally ill and the whole family were to be at his bedside.

Sam had a tour of the pits last night and collected autographs from the witches riders and a few Glasgow ones too. Many thanks to kevin long for making it possible. One very happy lad. -

I saw the track and witnessed the actions of the riders. My opinion is no more or less valid than yours but I’m reporting what I saw first hand -

Chris gay asked both captains their opinions. If one side were prepared to ride he was going to get the meeting started however after initially being prepared to ride the Ipswich team seemed to be swayed to change their minds by their captain. I agree that rider safety is paramount but I was present last night unlike a few of the posters defending the riders. Danny king said he would have given it a go as did Richard Lawson. They should have at least tried. To not even try is inexcusable. Nobody would be complaining if they had a go and then said no. At this rate the riders won’t have a sport left in s couple of years. -

I too thought it was sawdust but it was limestone dust which does a similar job. The riders should be ashamed of themselves at not trying the track after all the efforts. -

They don’t want to ride. Nearly 8 and they haven’t changed while the Ipswich riders are ready to go. -
He was poor at mildenhall yesterday then won his last two heats. Really should be nigh on unbeatable at that level.

He was brilliant at foxhall too when there was plenty of dirt. Whilst I don’t agree with Ben’s actions he witnessed pedersens spear of Jeremy as he was right behind him at the time of the accident. -

Ronni rode with his weight further back so his front wheel was hardly touching the track down the straights. But soon as you hit a rut or unexpected grip you take off and become a passenger. I was there that night and I understand why Ben took revenge. It was a highly competitive meeting with frank ebdon favouring the panthers and it all ending up in court with the judge ruling in Ipswich’s favour and overturning the result -

Connor Mountain was dropped due to the numbers for three changes. He has a brilliant attitude. Good equipment and always gave his all but he really struggled to get to grips with foxhall and rode much better away from home.
