Ipswich V Glasgow . Premier League . 27-6-13
Jackal replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ok crazysue I did not mean you about "hype" it was from the general media along with his family. I am a general speedway fan and when in the Elite League, I have been to every track many times more than once. In 1998 never missed one meeting involving Ipswich but now in this inferior premier league whats the point, the stadiums are generally rubbish like Rye House etc. And now fuel is so expensive its simply not worth it to watch a team that has not won away this season in the league anyway. -

What kind of team manager is Pete Simmons ? What a totally defeatist attitude saying he wanted only 2 points from these 2 away meetings, imagine Alan Rossiter saying that, never, would be going for all 8 points. Glasgow will be there for the taking, so nothing less than 4 points will suffice. Make it the Bahamas and its a deal As above deal ??? -

crazysue - Im only too pleased to answer and reply to your posting. In answer to your first part of posting.......I agree that all the youngsters need encouragement I have nothing against that whatsoever. But what I do disagree with is all the hype Ellis has had compared with other young GB riders like young Josh Bates and getting all the attention when its not deserving. Then family members putting their nasty abusive pennyworth in reply to honest opinions from us few realist posters on this forum. We are not all cl idolizers like most are and its only fitting we have our opinions on what appears to be wrong with matters at foxhall with no success after 15 long barren years. ""vendetta"" ??? No never just honest realist opinions as always, Im sorry if you find this distasteful but howabout all the abuse I get ??? Is that not distasteful ??? Just to finish, I would like to make it clear to all and sundry, I do not care a toss what anyone say whatsoever its all water off a ducks (quack) back as far as Im concerned. Cheers Jackal -

Easy easy answer.........Ben is a very exciting no1 Ive always wanted who scores lots of crucial points that win matches, whereas Ellis is just another run-of-the-mill low scoring reserve! -

Totally agree SCB with all you say but remember spanner47 (jimmy nervo) is a cl clone lol I feel very sorry for you Glasgow fans, I was speaking to a few last night who travelled and they are totally disillusioned by the premier league and management alike. I fear for your future like I do with our poor crowds at foxhall and with the rent we pay what I keep hearing about being so high, who knows??? -

Now this meeting confirms EXACTLY what I have been saying nearly all season about ""the wonder boy"" Ellis !!! Getting his usual only 3 points in heat 2 (the easiest heat out of 15) and then getting naff all against very poor riders. Now Josh Bates is only 16 also and he scored 6 points from the hard no2 position and he indeed looked a REAL talent. Beating riders Compton and Raun who Ellis could not beat once and Raun only scored 1 point and guess who that was against, yes Ellis !!! Even the slow keeping it safe line of Joe Jacobs was good enough to beat Ellis in heat 14 and Ellis had gate 1 !!! So wise up you Ellis fans, he is not our asset so why bother with him at all ??? He for a young rider is only VERY average and there are much better alternatives out there as young Josh showed us all with his determined riding and getting in where it hurts. Ellis if any rider shows any aggression against him just moves out of the way like last night, pathetic !!! Now to the meeting itself. Glasgow I thought were a disgrace apart from good old Joe and if this premier league is supposed to be the league to be in, you can fool me. Wednesdays meeting on sky at Kings Lynn had excitement and commitment in abundance and was a great spectacle to behold and is the league to be in for me. Great to see what little excitement there was coming from Ben who's passes of Joe where brilliant and Cam getting a paid maximum shows what REAL young talent can really do. Josh Bates was fantastic and what a 16 he is with Real talent. Glasgow really showed what the premier league is all about, 2 riders retiring at end of season finishing their careers safely. Compton coming back into speedway and looks like Hawkins reluctantly and really off the pace with the slowest time of the night with his easy win in heat 14. 2 reserves who look as though they will never make it, along with Raun who looked totally outclassed except when he beat the unchallenging Ellis in heat 11. So on yet another damp, cold, windy night, the attendance was pitiful and if this continues like this in the premier league, I can only see one conclusion if we stay in this dead league if not saved by the sponsors !!! -

Another big home win here, for some unknown reason we lack any determination whatsoever when riding there. Feel sorry for Ben, guess he will be on his own where determination is involved. Mind you, Lanham might get a maximum or even double figures Baldy I should give it a miss mate, all that money on a cert humiliation, updates will do me -

This meeting on paper looks a simple home win with Glasgow looking poor. Thought when joining the premier league teams would be more of equal strength and be closer racing, well thats what cl said anyway. Its been anything but that with many huge wins with some teams like Glasgow very weak indeed. So yet another myth comes from cl Im sorry to point out, in case anyone missed it. Well he had to justify why he relegated the Witches sadly but its all been proved to be a misrepresentation of the actual facts. Obviously some forum users think the "sun shines" etc but us realists can see another point of view which is not to every ones liking but so what !!! Very good luck to our asset Joe Jacobs tomorrow night but I feel he may well struggle to get many points. Lets hope Ben has now turned the corner for the rest of the season and ride like a true no1. -

Yes baldyman apart from Ben and occasionally Cam the other 5 seem totally incapable of passing riders and just follow their line with no real effort to pass. Ellis came to foxhall with a great reputation for passing and keeping up with all the riders but while in fact he passes no rider and often tails off. I cannot help feeling as he is a Lakeside asset cl would be better off to sign another rider with talent in his place as an asset who's not fixed up with anyone. I did say at the time Hawkins was signed for the rest of the season it was not a wise move at all but many on here as usual condemned that and went the other way, the fools. On a brighter note, Ben at long last won heat one and the relief on his face was there for all to see and he seemed to be back where he was last season in form and looked very sharp. Cam was sharp also and its great to have at least one reserve to rely on. Lanham although scoring a paid 10 points, never looked very sharp at all and had a lot of luck with some of his points. Risager and Tungate were about level in their performances, ok while gating but rubbish when not. Terrific track record by Ben in heat one but the meeting on a whole was pretty uninspiring and mundane. What has happened to gate 4 at foxhall ??? No rider seems to be able to gate from there at all since the track was altered and only Bunyan coming from 3rd to pass our 2 riders in heat 4 won a race from it. Seems to have become a graveyard since cl unwisely changed a track that had served up brilliant racing for over 30 years. The look of the stadium is certainly changing and must be costing a bomb to do, just hope promises of keeping speedway is true and not yet again another fob off !!! -

Anyone know the guest for Allen? That will make a huge difference if Rye pick the correct one. Rye always give the Witches a good match as obviously they like riding on a good track with excellent preparation, thanks to Bob. Expect a Witches win with Ben now starting to get his exciting form back. -

Not a cat in hells chance of cl ousting his friend and mate Lanham , after all he goes around for tea and biscuits in return for fish'n'chips How did you guess Baldyman This result stuffed a few Newcastle gloaters which was pleasing but if 2 of our weak links Lanham and Ellis had done a little better, it could have been all 4 points. But its getting commonplace now these 2 fail on a regular basis and will indeed cost the Witches big time in the long run. Very nice to see our genuine no1 Ben riding like it at last with a super 32 points from the 2 meetings over the weekend and coupled with solid displays from Rohan, Morten and Cameron it was quite good on the whole to get 3 points. So much better than our depressing performance last Thursday!!! -

Good to get a point thanks almost entirely to Ben who apparently was fantastic perhaps its just foxhall he can't ride! But more awful performances from the Witches 3 weakest links Lanham, Hawkins and Ellis and now these 3 are a worry as they are costing the Witches dear and a middle order place looks all thats achievable, if cl stays with these 3 under performing riders which if I know him he will without doubt. -

Well after Thursdays depressing performance by the Witches against Newcastle, the only realistic result here is a thorough hammering!!! If Ben do not step up to what we signed him for like so far this season, think this will be an embarrassment. Its a gut rendering thing to say but Im always a realist but this Newcastle side is way above the Witches team in ability, guts and desire. Changes need to be made but cl is known for his doing nothing approach and thats exacting what I expect - nothing!!!
