  1. Sorry, but a number of "big names" have already excused themselves, I understand.
  2. I very much doubt that -- Liam Carr's performances over the past few weeks have been as good, or better, than Master Bates.
  3. Not after the way the Glasgow folk treated the Scottish Monarchs........
  4. Why does Micky Dyer keep being mentioned? He is an Edinburgh asset, and Berwick would always be waiting in line to see if they could approach him. In recent years, efforts to build up a club asset-base have been thwarted by serious injury to Brenton Barnfield - and career-ending injury to Adrian Rymel -- while Facundo Albin had to be passed on to become a Sheffield asset after Seb Alden walked. Berwick have a 20-year-old asset in Bellego who will go far, and a 17-year-old asset in Liam Carr, who is now beginning to show why he will be in next season's starting seven. Non-assets such as Aspegren and Starke will ride where their 'owners' tell them to. In conclusion, does any Berwick follower really want to see Peter Waite back in charge?
  5. If you say so, but I cannot believe members of the promotion are talking in anything but the most-general of terms, as it is obvious speedway is in for a huge winter shake-up, and leagues and averages may not be as before. No promotion can be making firm plans just yet. Typically unwanted post about a rider often-injured while wearing Berwick's colours and later dropped through no fault of his own to accomodate Ed Kennett. While many many not have Alex in their minds as a first pick next year, he would always be a welcome visitor for the Bandits' supporters I know, and if he did come back, might be given every encouragement by the majority.
  6. Last time I saw a Berwick programme, Sebastian Alden still held the track record. The first post on this thread quoted him as saying the new engine should have been just right, but wouldn't run properly, with metal appearing in the oil. Nothing about having the wrong set-up, which is usually down to ignition timing and/or carburrettor jets. But don't let facts get in the way of scarcasm, eh?
  7. They never turned! Got hooked together out of the start, went straight on into the fence. A ridiculous accusation, no need to try to hang blame on either "getting out of shape". No doubt Speedway Star or Xtra will run the sequence of photos, but it must be made clear, neither was able to turn at all.
  8. 1) This is a rearranged fixture, so the 'PL priority' agreement doesn't apply. 2) You mean BSPA, not SCB. I think? 3) Who cares? Weather looks good, Sheffield have some energetic riders (Albin, for a start) and it is an extra night out.
  9. Was this not the same referee who made two schoolboy howlers at Ipswich last week?
  10. I'm still quivering, nearly two days after the event! Let no-one complain that there is only one line, and no passing possibilities at Shielfield Park. Possibly the most 'perfect' speedway meeting I've ever witnessed. Well done Berwick, on every aspect of a wonderful night.
  11. More local interest -- David Bellego nominated by FIM to replace the Russian!
  12. Why are people still trying to build fantasy squads, when it is as obvious as my frontage the leagues will have a different structure, and different points-limits, next season? Just let every current track still have speedway next season, and we might all be grateful. On a more-topical note, it is flagged in the International section how Joe Jacobs replaces Ashley Morris on Saturday in the World Under 21 Final at Berwick.
  13. Well, Foxhall attendance will be increased by Bandits' travelling support. Whch will be large, noisy, and very, very enthusiastic.
  14. When you grow up, you'll hopefully learn press releases from all sources (entertainment, commercial houses, sports clubs, government) are to give editors quotes, trail stories and catch interest. They are not for earnest scrutiny by sad individuals with axes to grind.
  15. 1) Why is there a question here? As in soccer's World Cup, rugby's World Cup and any number of other sports, the host nation is always seeded into the finals. 2) One question which remains is, as long as the Belle Vue pipedream remains just that, where in Britain could a WTC Final be staged? Of the currently-approved FIM circuits (am I right in saying there are only four?) which has the biggest capacity?
  16. Absolutely correct. I learned the names last night. Four Brits (sort of) and not a Bjerre in sight. Flagrag's post total mince.
  17. Very good, especially since Edinburgh have had recent problems over threats of redevelopment and last winter's financial crisis. In the PL, that's one down -- eight to go!
  18. I'm sure the promotion would be interested to learn your recommendation of a better choice of guest?
  19. As has been said, if Edinburgh had asked for the facility they might well have got it, looking at the early signing-on time (rather than the first-race time) required for the long-track meeting. Their error, now properly-punished, was in not asking. They weren't cheating, they were incompetent. However, it would have opened a large can of worms if a rider had been allowed an extra day in advance of a long-track event, and it is better (for Brirtish speedway) in the long run that the rule of "on the day of the event only" is strictly imposed. Always and forever. (Interesting about the tactical points, and a probability that Redcar might really not be due the extra point, though) Time to accept it and move on yourself!
  20. Same as at Coventry last season, so fair enough. It is a World Final!
  21. When will we learn who the two wildcards will be? And indeed, the two reserves?
  22. Not having Barrett as a big-scoring reserve might cost Berwick dearly, as Lewis Blackbird is absolutely on fire just now.
  23. Berwick usually post their news on their website early each Wednesday morning. Not long to wait?
