They got damn near it last year. For Mason Campton.

Just got the Newsletter. I approve!

If Somerset have declared a 1-7 to the BSPA and are awaiting ratification, then that's where we are. Nothing else to be said, if office at Rugby approves the 1-7, he's in. If they reject it, presumably on the grounds of Brady Kurtz being rated at a higher figure than the Rebels had submitted, then Somerset go back to the drawing-board. BTW it appears that NO club have their 1-7 up on the BSPA website as yet. Presumably that is something that will happen after New Year.

Several Premier League clubs seem to have the idea -- Berwick admit all accompanied Under-16s free, for instance.

To get away from the playground insults...... Interesting footnote to the Red Alert issued last night is that Gordon Pairman's name was missing from the lengthy list of signatories.
-
By all accounts, Berge went to the highest bidder of five clubs, and Glasgow seem to be overpaying him(with money they don't have?) while Paul Starke was set up for Berwick until getting his EL gig and choosing to withdraw from the deal on travelling grounds. Neither loss should be that significant, and in the case of Berge, the club has wisely chosen not to get involved in trying to gazump others just to get hold of a potential five-point asset who may or may not prove better in the long run than three-point Liam Carr. Who comfortably outpaced the young Frog when they last met, I believe.

His brother's name isn't there, either. Also, no mention of anyone from the WA title.

The Scottish Monarchs?

Yep, John Anderson and Gary Patchett do. Reputedly, much less than expected, as long as Gary got it in cash.........

Air Fence Safety Performance - Research?
Boobs replied to Elephantman's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
When my partner was (much) younger he rode his motor-bike on the roads without a crash helmet. When the law was changed to make helmets compulsory, he tells me there were traditionalists who argued against this law. It is obvious the change was desirable, however much the Luddites claimed things would be better left alone. Same with fences. You know they make sense. -
Actually, Justin will be 22 in February.

Good post. Refreshing to see newbies improve (and become assets)and entertainment is what fills the stand. As loanees move on, deciding to avoid travelling and/or Saturdays, the need for an viable asset-base becomes more and more apparent.

Yes, should (and we hope they do) come in, they would presumably miss out. Unless it was decreed they race a first-round tie against one of the four clubs currently given byes. Should (heaven forbid) one of the clubs currently expected to run suffer a insurmountable problem and pull out before March, the Panthers would presumably take their place in all the competitions.

Which is why Berwick, Scunthorpe -- and Northfield -- have to be praised!
-
Looking at Berwick review in today's Star, I see Eddie Kennett's away average for the Bandits was better than his home figure. At Rye House, he'll be a big, big star.

If the Danish connection (Alun Biggart) remains in place at Glasgow, he's a very likely recruit.

Given the desparate need to install a fence, re-equip a bar and toilet block and avoid another big financial loss from every meeting, Glasgow's team must be recruited at rock-bottom pay-rates. No big hitters, no superstar No 1. If this is understood, a team of young, raw recruits can be accepted if "sold" to the public as exactly that, and an exciting, entertaining season can be contemplated, even if without great success as regards trophies. If the same directors attempt to put together a team costing more than the basic minimum to satify the lust for glory of a few on here, then they'll deserve all they will inevitably get. Someone at Glasgow should put in a call to Peter Waite. He had a flair for constructing ultra-cheap teams at the last minute, and running his track on a shoestring budget.

What Can Be Done For Young British Riders.

Kyle Newman is in Australia, riding and learning. I believe Andrew Tully is also in Oz, but not sure if he is racing there. -
When will the seeds, and the riders in the qualifier, be named?

2014 European Speedway Championships
Boobs replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
But at the end of the day, if that happened (it won't) the winner of the SGP series would go down as World Champion. Just like Allan Wells winning gold in Moscow, or the players who won at Winmbledon the year all the top players boycotted it -- when people look at the trophy in the year 2525 (see what I did there?) it will have their name on the base. Not who won a European title....... -
Team Gb - Middlo Quits!
Boobs replied to Barry The Cat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
National team management is a three-fold task. During meetings there is the visible job of being a motivator, passing on encouragement and personal experience to riders going out to race. Also at meetings there has to be a technical part of the same job, such as working out the racing order, playing jokers and advising riders on team tactics. The third, and biggest part of being responsible for a country's team efforts is understanding and rebuilding the infrastructure. Probably a two man job (were Ian Thomas and Eric Booccock the best 'team' in this respect?) but which tag-team would bring about the best results today? I certainly don't fancy Havelock in any of these roles and Rosco is just a serial glory-hunter. Phil Morris and Neil Vatcher seem to be making the right noises as regards backroom administration and I know of no other people who might take on a thankless task. Anyone thinking it isn't thankless just needs to look at the respect and gratitude afforded to England's football managers since Sir Alf Ramsay was hounded out of the job! -
Right then, currently I buy the printed book every week. Q1: If I subscribe to an annual (printed) deal, will I have access to the online edition too? Q2: I might be tempted to subscribe online, but not until I have seen it 'in action' -- can I buy a one-off online copy, to see how I find it? Certainly cannot contemplate buying a yearsworth to find I don't like it.... Q3: Does the online edition exactly replicate each printed page?

What Can Be Done For Young British Riders.

Not the best example, given Gjedde's 'loyal service' to the sport at Berwick! It wasn't tested in law. Mr Russell threatened to go to litigation if the NL didn't let him bring Herr Shroeck into his Rye House team, and the other promoters (who knew the rider was absolutely useless, as he proved in every race he started) shrugged their shoulders and chose not to contest the threatened lawsuit, as they knew the Rockets were being weakened, not strengthened, by the move. -

Surely all British speedway needs is for the PL to follow the NL in restricting the competition to UK passport-holders? Or maybe to ACU licence-holders? Which, as it has been accepted for a couple of years, is presumably within the dictates of EU law? -
I took it to mean that Ian Rae was using the interview as a way of canvassing local organisations for commercial support for Liam, as he wasn't able to raise funds to buy PL gear while he stayed on at school.
