Rickardsons Farewell
Steve Shovlar replied to Hansfan's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Who said Crump was a rider I most dislike? I am not a fan of his, and never will be. -
Cardiff Attendance
Steve Shovlar replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
J Posselthwaite said last night that there crowd has grown every year and this year they have sold an extra 10%, so we are talking 44,000 fans on Saturday if that is true. Those bars are going to be busy. -

Gollob, Adams and Crump are the heat leaders for the ROTW side. Confirmed. Think both sides will lineup with team averages up around 55! -
Get Some Practice In....
Steve Shovlar replied to Jim Sharman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Guarenteed to keep the stadium 90% empty until 15 mns before the start. Rubbish warm up act. Rather have the Wombles or some silly group that at least can get the crowd going. -

Steve Shovlar replied to philcrumpisgod's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Rob, I would have been more than happy to give my thoughts of the GP and the form of TRick, if asked in a decent tone. However, this philcrumpisgod person didn't ask, but worded it in such a way that I found condescending. For that reason alone I decided not to make a comment when I returned. However, he then went on to more or less "demand" I make a statement, asking what planet I am on. Asking for me to post "to show I am a decent person" is like a red rag to a bull. What other response did he expect? -

You expect me to repond to such condescending posts? Get a life. -

I have now watched it. Terrible GP, almost as bad as the second one. Glad I watched it with my finger on the fast forward between heats. Hancock lost it rather than Crump winning it. Its a GP final and Hancock should have moved out to the fence and blocked Crump. Too soft. TRick looked down on power. -
I do think the weather is very important on Saturday. There are lots of people who make their mind up to go on the day and if it is raining it will put them off. PLus it will be no fun crawling from pub to pub in the rain!

Well with less than a week away, and good weather now forecast, how many people do you think will attend next weekends GP at Cardiff? Will it be 40,000 plus? Will TRick not doing so well have a determental affect on the crowd? Will the pathetic attempts by the Brits keep fans away? I think this year we will be looking around the 40,000 mark, though it's peure conjecture. Has there been any news in the Speedway Star concerning advance ticket sales? Certainly the so called "entertainment", from Bonny Tyler will keep me in the pub until 15 minutes before the meeting starts!

Cardiff Track
Steve Shovlar replied to sportsnut's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Now that the crew have laid the track several times previously it is pretty easy to do. The first time would have been a steep learning curve but they have the knowledge now to get it down without any hitches. Monday to Thursday night is ample time. -
Yes just saw the Countryfile weather forecast. Freezing cold Monday night with showers and snow in Scotland! Tuesday dry but cool. Wednesday and the high pressure builds to give a day of sunshne and average temps. Thursday and the temperature builds to 19-20 degrees. Friday and 22 degrees and clear. Ditto saturday! So T Shirt and shorts weather!

I got back this lunchtime from a week away so I think I will catch up with this thread. First of all I went away to south Devon for a week, with no internet access. Left an hour before the GP started, and still haven't had a chance to watch it. Probably will tomorrow morning. I would like to state that it wasn't me posting on the updates forum last week. Obviously someone thought it funny to use my name. Glad that a mod checked the IP address and posted that it wasn't me. And SCB, the logging out time was correct, but we weren't here. My wifes mother was though, here house sitting for a few days, and she was using the net. My default IE home page is this forum. So when she comes online and opens IE, it will show up here before she goes off surfing Ebay or whereever. Thought I would clear that one up. As for TRick and the GP's well I have yet to watch it but by the sounds of it he has engine problems. Sounds too slow. Hopefully he would have rectified it by next weekend and normal service will be resumed. -

Is it that xls thing? I don't use spreadsheets so can't read it. If anyone has anything else that would be great. Need something like the speedway star has. cheers -

Could this be a rain off? Weather not looking good. Can someone point me to a SGP programme? I didn't get the star and don't like watching it without a program. If anyone has got one can they email me a copy? cheers Steve -
Tony159 you misunderstand my post. Bridger has had a very good season and I was expecting more from him. It wasn't slagging him off, just saying he had a bad one and the bubble went pop, being beaten by unknown foreigners. He has done exceptionally well this year against stronger fields, hence the bubble remark.

It makes not one iota what certain OXO fans and a few other TRick haters ( the usual cronies) think. Poole will be busting at the seams for TRicks farewell, the last chance to see the sports greatest ever rider in the UK. With the WTC final the previous night, there will be hundreds of foriegners over who will be making a B line for Wimborne Road for this event. Add the Poole fans in and we haven't got any more room for anyone else anyway!! TRick is a hero to 99% of Poole fans and nothng Rob P and a few others on here will change that. Sorry but thats the truth and TRick will get a fantastic sendoff from the thousands crammed into Poole Speedway to say bye.

Slovenian Gp
Steve Shovlar replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Crump was in the final be default. Never rode well enouogh to deserve being there and anyone who says different is living in cloud cuckoo land. The final should have been between the four best riders on show last night. NP, Adams, TRick and Gollob. Crump was gifted a final spot, then had a massive roller in the final! A good final, with nobody taking any real advantage. -

What about the final? Was that an unsatisfactory start as well in your opinion?
