  1. You have got to be joking, right? An Aussie gating tart in place of a yong up and coming Brit? Never in a million years. You think Schlein would be more popular than Kennet or Stead?
  2. A bit of luck and third! Andersen shoved out Crump to allow Harris third. Excellent from the Cornishman. Well done Harris!
  3. Excellent racing from Harris. The track tonight suits him perfectly. Shame most of the time it will be a lot slicker. Now if he can just make the rostrum.............
  4. Who do you suggest takes his place? The Munchkin?
  5. This has happened to Lindback twice bfore when he has failed to score in a GP. Still he turned up at Poole the following week and scored double figures. You think he would score 3-4 points a meeting in the EL? he would soon be rattling in double figures every week. remember last year in the Panthers/Pirates meeting when he raced JBJ for the bonus? Still all there. Just needs a bit of time. You don't become a bad rider overnight. Sooner he gets back to the EL the better.
  6. I didn't expect anything from him but they way some were carrying on last GP you would have thought he had won it!
  7. In his first GP Chris Harris didn't impress me and I said so. Failed to make the semi and whilst some on here were raving and going overboard, I thought he had a quiet start to the series. Tonght Harris is well worthy of praise. Still failing to gate but using the dirt line to his advantage. I type this as Harris has one more race left before the semis, but he has done enough tonight to deserve his plaudits. Well done to the lad.
  8. Well the Italian GP had a local no hoper on board. So the Italian speedway federation must have some clout! I am sure who the BSPA/Middlo suggest will be the rider who will be picked.
  9. Personally having wathed both riders for the last three years, Kennett is the better rider of the two. Or should I say "potential". The way Kennett is coming on this season, i feel that within a couple of months he will be in front of Stead in the averages anyway. The lad is showing real improvement on a bike and in any many other teams would probably be riding at 1 or 5. He can gate and he can pass. Like Stead he has ridden in the British GP before, a couple of seasons ago, but he is a whole straight better than he was back then and will bring something extra to the gP compared to Stead, who has yet to really step up to the mark. A tough call for Middlo, but to be honest, even if Kennett was not riding for Poole, if he went for the youngster it would not be a wrong call at all.
  10. Well here's a bt of a dilema for Middlo. Who to name as the GB wildcard for Cardiff. Does he give Simon Stead another chance or up and coming Eddie Kennett? Being Biased I would like to see Kennett get the nod. He is on fire at the moment and deserves a chance to taste the world stage. Others will say Stead has a higher average and is carrying his team. What are your thoughts?
  11. Harris couldn't even pass Troy Batchelor at Poole last week. Or Boyce. Didn't even win a heat. I am certainly not doing Harris a disservice. He scored OK on Saturday, a similar performance to Poole last Monday, but not worthy of high praise IMO. If he had made the semi, well it would have been an acheivement. As it was, he failed. But then we are used to failure in this country, and accept a 7 point haul from 5 rides as a brilliant debut. I want Harris to do well, but let's be realistic about Saturday.
  12. I agree with that statement. But to go overboard and say he had a good GP is stretching it way too far. He wasn't embarressed, but didn't do anything either. Lets be realistic here. Of course I want him to do well, but last night wasn't anything to write home about or start a thread over. Just my opinon of course.
  13. Wow Chris Harris posts under the name of BeesFan! Hopefully you will do better next time Chris. Trouble is if you have been watching the GP's, you will know there's no GPs with plenty of dirt on them.
  14. Well done for what though? He failed to make the semis. If he had managed that I would be congratulating him on a good effort. But like NIcholls, there wasn't much for him to celebrate yesterday. Hopefully other GP tracks will suit his type of riding where you give the opposition 10 metres headstart in every race. Nothing lastnight to congratulate IMO.
  15. I don't see how some can say it was a good GP. It was terrible rubbish for most of the night, bar a couple of heats.
  16. Well I thought the meeting last night was dire in the extreme. Poor track, poor racing. Small crowd, lack of atmosphere and totally flat overall. But then that's what you mostly get at Lonigo. Well done to Pedersen on the win. Best rider by a mile last night. Hopefully there will be a new WC this year, or at least a more exciting series, helped no doubt by the new scoring methods. From a Poole perspective Bjarne had a mare. Very unfortunate to be excluded in his first when it looked like Jonsson had touched the tapes even though Bjarne moved forst, then losing his chain in the next when in second. Won't have such a bad GP as this probably for the rest of the year. Crump, well I don't follow his individual efforts so I didn't care if he made the final or not. Seemed slow and was never in contention to win. For the Brits, well it's "as you were", with not a hope of either making a final in 2007. Nicholls certainly not. Seems to have no savvy on the first bend, even when gating. Harris "might" make a final if the track is set up for racers, but as we all know, that is highly unlikely. Of the pretenders to the title, Andersen was poor and was lucky to make a semi at one stage. Never got a sniff of a final berth. Adams rode better but as usual he just doesn't have that extra bit to make the difference. Jagus rode well but won't be in the mix come the shakedown. Hancock did well, carrying on from where he left off in 2006. Funny that he can't show the same form for his British club. So NP coasted to an easy win. A crap GP though, and hopefully things can only get better racing wise.
  17. Well done to Eddie. Coming on leaps and bounds this year and although the favourite to win last night, he still had to do it and how many times have we seen a favourite fail in an event like this? However, this event is THE UNDER 21 BRITISH FINAL, so what was an Aussie doing in it? Tai Woffenden has gone on record saying he wants to be classed as an Aussie, so he should have been booted straight out and replaced by a young Brit. Yet again a Briish rider loses a final spot because of a foriegner. If Woffenden said he wants to be a Brit, then fair enough, but as he hasn't, he should have been refused entry to this competition.

  19. So you are not going to congratulate Poole on their superb win then Eastie? I bet your teeth were gnashing when Bjarne managed to squeeze past McGowan on the final lap, eh?
  20. Todays Echo. BJARNE Pedersen paid tribute to Jason Crump's motivational powers after they swept to the Elite League Best Pairs' title at King's Lynn. Pirates' skipper was on a low after his engine blew up on the start line of their first race when they conceded a 6-3 to Reading. That immediately looked as though it would rule strong pre-meeting championship favourites Poole Castle Cover out of a semi-final place. But the Dorset club stormed back to win all five of their remaining heats, including a revenge 6-3 beating of Reading duo Greg Hancock and Travis McGowan in the final. It was the first time Pirates had bagged the trophy, plus the £6,000 first prize. And Pedersen said: "Full credit to Jason because he was lifting me up. "I really thought it wasn't going to be our night when my engine blew up at the tapes and I had to switch to my second bike. "I didn't really have the speed on that one but everything worked out in the end because Jason really got me going when he spoke to me in the pits between races." Pedersen, who snatched third place off McGowan on the third lap of the final while Crump led from the front, added: "This was one of my goals for this year. "I have never won this meeting before and I knew I had a great chance with Jason. I knew I wouldn't get a better chance, so I'm delighted. "I was hungry, and I didn't really want to let Jason down because I'm a rider who doesn't want to let anyone down. "It means a lot to us to win this trophy and it was great to see the Poole fans celebrating with us at the end of the meeting." Looking back on his trophy-clinching manoeuvre past McGowan, Pedersen said: "Jason was slowly the race down a bit and Travis and Greg were slowing each other down. "They were in and out of each other and I managed to take advantage, I found a gap to dive up inside Travis. "After my engine blew, we recovered well, but still knew we would be out if Coventry beat Reading 6-3 or 7-2 in their final group race. "Fortunately, Coventry only won 5-4 and we went through by the narrowest of margins. "Everyone was telling us before the meeting that we were the favourites, but you still have to go out and win five or six races and the engine blowing up showed what could happen. "So we're delighted to have won this trophy for Poole at last." IT was, perhaps, poetic justice that Bjarne Pedersen shot from behind in the final to secure Pirates their first victory in the Elite League Best Pairs' Championship on Saturday. There looked to be no way through from the back for Poole Castle Cover's skipper as he tried everything to pass either second and third-placed Travis McGowan or Greg Hancock in the climax of the competition. Pedersen, who had chosen gate one after winning the toss for starting positions, had already been left at the gate in the Dorset club's first race in front of a 4,000 crowd at King's Lynn. The engine on his number one machine blew up as the tapes rose in heat three leaving virus-affected Jason Crump to work hard to split Hancock and Mc-Gowan as Reading recorded a 6-3. That mishap quickly put Poole on the back foot. But Crump isn't the world champion for nothing. And his inspirational leadership in the pits, combined with team manager Neil Middleditch's wily input, pumped up Pedersen, who rode his not-quite-so-good number two bike from then on. Pirates recovered to squeeze into the semis, courtesy, ironically, of Reading, who held Coventry to a vital 5-4 defeat in race 17. Coventry and Poole finished level on 21 points in their group, but Pedersen and Crump went through because they had won their tussle with the Bees 6-3. The Pirates pair combined for a 6-3 triumph over Peterborough in the semi-final, with Hans Andersen losing for the first time on the night. Then, while Crump expertly slowed the race from the front, Pedersen dived inside McGowan into third on the straight at the end of the third lap to seal Poole's 6-3 victory in the final much to the glee of the 200 travelling Pirates fans on the first turn terracing. It meant Pedersen, who has served Pirates with distinction since 2002, has completed a clean sweep of top-flight honours with the club. He added the Best Pairs' crown to the Elite League title, Elite League Knockout Cup, British League Cup, Craven Shield and Elite League Riders' Championship. That's six pieces of different silverware while wearing a skull and crossbones race jacket, possibly a club record, and nine in total. There wasn't much passing at King's Lynn, mainly because of the quality of riders on view. So Pedersen's trophy winning move was even more impressive. Looking back on the final, Crump said: "We won the toss for gate position and I said to Bjarne take what gate you want'. "He wanted gate one. I was a bit surprised and if he had the choice again I'm pretty sure he would probably take two or four. "But he rode a terrific race. Travis and Greg were trying to keep him out but he found a gap somewhere and got through. "I only realised as I went over the line at the end that he had got it, and it feels great because we worked hard for this." Crump, who had lifted the title at Swindon alongside his former Belle Vue team-mate Simon Stead last year, added: "Person-ally I needed to win tonight. I needed to get into a big meeting like this, blow the cobwebs out and kind of go okay again. "I'm probably not 100 per cent well because of the virus I've had, but I think I rode well later on in the meeting when I had got everything working. "It is a big boost for me for us to come here and win, and it is good for everyone connected with the club." "I hope it is the first of many trophies for Poole this year." Happy Days.
  21. Yes scraped through because of an engine failure. Saw off Coventry with ease when they met. Just think, if Bjarne had not had that EF, Coventry would probably have qualified for the semis in place of Reading! Happy days!
  22. Fabulous win and our first trophy of the season! Wonderful performance considering we did it even though Bjarne blew his best engine in his first ride. Shame I couldn't make it but by reports Poole took along 200 fans who were on the first bend. Bet they enjoyed the final with Bjane coming through on the last lap to take it! Happy days are here again! Big well done to the best pairing in the league!
