Do you get Poles or Danes or Swedes supporting GB? No of course not so why should some Brits support other countries other than their own? Disgraceful IMO.
-
Agree. Any Brit not supporting TeamGB tonight is a traitor to their country.
-
Totally agree. It's a very bad sign when a rider like Bridger gets booed on parade when representing his country. All these tantrums and showboating before a race have been noticed by the masses rather than a few and it's doing his image serious damage. he was beaten in one heat and had a real strop. Stopping his bike and dismounting at the pit gate, blocking the entrance so the other riders scouldn't get back in the pits. What is it with this lad? He has a real talent on abike, though very rough at the moment, but if doesn't calm down and channel his energy in the right direction he will become very unpopular in his latter career, which would be a travesty.

It goes without saying that Eddie is going to find it very tough tomorrow night. Stead should also find picking up points difficult. But I just hope that the fans don't start slagging him off and giving him a hard time if he doesn't do well. Being realistic if we make the rostrum we would have done extremely well and looking at the opposition nearly every rider has more experience and a higher average than Eddie and Simon Stead. The experienced gained though will be of benefit in years to come for both riders.

Georgie Thompson Hosts Race Off & Final
Steve Shovlar replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Having watched it again I was a tad too harsh on her. It was her "matter of fact" attitude which got my goat. As I said I am not a fan of the Gabby Y style of presenting. She is better looking than Heuwen! -

Yes I agree she did a very professional job, for someone with no knowledge of the sport. I just don't like the Gabby Yorath type voice though. And she does look a lot better than Greeny, and I do prefer her to Heuwen. -
Denmark Australia Team Great Britain Poland. Should be a real cracker. The track looks great. I can't wait. If we can make the rostrum I will be proud of the guys. It's going to be tough with our youngsters, but as long as they get stuck in and give it everything they have got, I will be happy. Bring It On!

Georgie Thompson Hosts Race Off & Final

Well good on her to just admit this her first ever taste of speedway. She sounds like she went to the same training school as that woman Yorath who presents the football on ITV. Same mannerisms. To be honest I have never watched Sky Sports News so don't know her at all. -

Well IMO she comes across as having no knowledge whatsoever about the sport, but has a set of pre vetted questions, plus receiving questions to ask in her ear piece. Very pro but cold and she sounds like she is interviewing someone at an event from the safety of a studio. Just like a newsreader. Emotionless. -
Just got back and really enjoyed tonight. a shame there were so many stay away fans who missed 14 guys trying their hearts out. The track was far better than last week. Quite a few tons of shale were removed from the track and it produced much better racing in safer conditions. Pick of the riders were King and Woffinden for GB and Batchelor and Gathercole. Couple of things. bridger is just a wild out of control rider on fast gear. A big purler is around the corner. He was all over the place and needs guidance, though I have said that before. By all accounts Woffiden wants to be an Aussie, not a Brit. Not sure where tonight leaves him. He rode well on his first visit tonight. Comes across as a lightweight cross between Jason Lyons and Kenneth Bjerre. Another year in the premier and he will be ready for the EL. Good skills and impressed.

Most Bees fans and fans from other clubs have acknowledged that Eddie was brilliant last night. But there's always one.
-
What a really pathetic post. But don't tell me, you would have put in Allen over Kennett! Eddie rode brilliantly all night to beat riders of far more experience. Only Davidsson managed to pass him, and he was the best rider on display last night. How come you are not slagging off Sead for being suckered the same way, and being beaten by A young Russian in another? Rather than making yourself look a total fool with your post, it would be better to realise just how well Eddie did and PRAISE him for his excellent nights work.

Steve Hone. So you will only support the best riders, i.e Harris, and not the guys that are trying their hearts out for Team GB but lack that final peice of the jigsaw that will make them a great rider? Just because they are not the "creme de la creme", you would rather support another nation? That stinks IMO. Yes you have the right to do so, but when Team GB is full of world class stars, which will happen eventually, I for one hope you don't show your face in the stadium they are racing at waving a Union Jack. And if you think the Team GB side is "stale", just who would you put in? Because if it wasn't any of the current 5, you would be laughed off the forum. Poor show. -
Thought all five of the boys did very well tonight. The two Coventry riders did what was expected of them, and Stead and Richardson both did their jobs. However special mention must go to Eddie Kennett who proved all the doubters wrong with some great riding to prove that Middlo got it spot on with his inclusion. Easily the most inexperienced rider in the team but showed maturity beyong his years at times to get his points. So straight through to the final and we are on our way to the World Cup Final at Leszno in Poland, avoiding that terrible runoff. Well done to Middlo and the boys!

World Cup At Coventry
Steve Shovlar replied to Gemini's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The first ten heats were poor but it improved dramatically when the track went SLICK. -
Can't actually think some people on here blame Middlo for us not winning the WTC in recent years. He has massive respect from the riders and has a way of getting the riders primed before a race. Why do you think Crump has gone on record stating Middlo is the best manager he has ridden under? And I tell yuo what. Stick me in charge of the Danes on Saturday and I bet I would end up with a gold medal. The manager can do a lot, but he isn't Jesus and can't work miracles. We all know Team GB's limitations and to put any defeat at the Middlo door is frankly ridiculous. Give it two/three more years and we will be serious challengers, with the new batch of youngsters coming through. Hopefully Middlo will still be in charge to get the glory he deserves.

Zorro is on fine form and should have been in the squad. Far better rider than Magnus Karlsson. -

Have to agree that after ten heats there's no difference between this and Voyens for entertainment. Mostly gate and go. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! -

A good crowd has turned up, I am pleased to say. Just a shame it could not have been yesterday and the place could have been packed out. Don't BSI want to make a big profit?
