  1. Not in the same vein as the usual mob. The Poole forum has been ruined in recent months by a certain few who have personal grudges against Matt Ford, and post negativity at every possible moment. Why the Poole management haven't banned these indivisuals is beyond me.
  2. Brendan, one of the reasons I don't post very much on the Poole postbag is because it is full of moaners like Pirateer, who never have anything constructive to say but just like to whinge all the time. That forum is full of it. If we won everything in 2008 there would still be a group on there bleating on about something. Hope you can come for this big meeting. Looks like its going to be really manic so get there very early! Just over three week to go. What a meeting this is going to be!
  3. Jac, sorry I dind't mean to sound hostile but I really have no idea, so best bet is to phone the speedway office. Like all speedway meetings, the meeting will go ahead at sometime so I would imagine your answer will be turn up when its rerun. Refunds are the last resort for any business.
  4. Plenty I think Rabbit. But shall we start a new one especially for Eastie. I know the title. "Let's all laugh at Eastbourne as they struggle for their last rider".
  5. I don't know if there is a third day on the calendar in case of a double rainoff, but I would imagine it would be put back to later in the year, possibly in October when the Polish season has finished. Lets hope there's no need to think along those lines.
  6. But this is called promoting the event. And you can be sure as the date gets closer we will have more and more "hamming up" with riders telling us how desperate they are to win it, how the fans are baying for a Poole rider to win, how riders who have missed out are desperate to take part etc etc etc. If there was just silence then it would not be on the fans minds and would more than likely not sell out. Expect the buzz to increase as the day approaches, with the Echo really pushing it big time in the local area, enough to get many first timers along to see what all the fuss is about.
  7. Other than the weather it shouldn't be a gamble at all. If the main grandstand is now almost sold out, you can bet that there have been a lot of regular standing tickets sold. When you take into consideration for £25 you get the biggest meeting in the UK after the GP, and included in the price is a free program worth £5, it means you get to see the biggest race prize ever held in the UK for £3 more than a normal night out. And then, on top of that, you get a ticket which means you get into Poole V Lakeside the next week for a tenner, saving you a further fiver! Which means, if you chose to stand to watch the Jubilee meeting, it will cost the same as a usual league meeting, if you attend both fixtures. Now THAT is a real bargain.
  8. CC, you can hardly say your post was not negative. You questioned whether the tickets were selling and said it sounded like a load of spin. Well the BIC site shows that the grandstand is almost sold out and Matt was giving fair warning to Poole fans that unless they get their tickets soon, they will miss out on a grandtsand or resteraunt seat. He says that there are plenty of standing tickets still available, but he is looking after the poole fans by advising them to buy before the day or risk missing out. If there was silence coming from Poole then you can be sure there would be tickets anywhere in the ground on the day. The fact that there are only 5,500 tickets available means demand should outstrip supply. I do get angry when a promoter takes a large risk and dares to put on a meeting of this magnitude, only for fans to take a pop or really hope it all fails miserably. They sem to get some type of sick joy out of watching others fail, when they don't have the ability of drive, or brains, to do something like this themselves. If this meeting was to be held at Brandon, to celebrate an important aniversary, and that lineup had been announced, I would already have purchased my tickets. This meeting is too good to miss and regardless of whether you come from Poole or as far as Glasgow, its one well worth making plans for.
  9. Well obviously the BIC are in on it as well then as their website shows areas sold out and only limited tickets in other sections. With your post it looks like you are one of the clan that would want this event to fail miserably. Shame there are people on here that would rather see a forward thinking promotion, who are putting on something very special, come a cropper. But speedway is stacked full of negative thinking fans, so it should be no suprise.
  10. In the summer months. March is a different story. Still enough Poole fans to pack the place, and with big interest from fans around the country it will be chockers. As long as it doesn't rain of course! 4 weeks tomorrow. Not too long now.
  11. Sounds like the main grandstand is now almost sold out. No suprise there because it has a roof! Echo. PIRATES chief Matt Ford has revealed a maximum 5,500-crowd figure has been set for the club's Diamond Jubilee meeting next month. So, with tickets selling fast, he is urging Poole supporters to snap them up early so they don't miss out on watching the extravaganza. Sixteen of the world's top stars will contest a top prize of £60,000 - the biggest purse for the winner of a single meeting in speedway history - on March 9. They include world champion Nicki Pedersen, other top Grand Prix stars Leigh Adams, Jason Crump and Hans Andersen. Pirates quartet Bjarne Pedersen, Davey Watt, Karol Zabik and Chris Holder will also take part. A bumper crowd, including fans from other clubs around the country, are expected to pack into Poole Stadium. But Ford has stressed health and safety regulations have restricted the official attendance to 5,500, despite more than 7,000 watching the World Team Cup final at the same venue in 2004. Ford added: "I don't want Poole's regular clientele to feel let down if they turn up on the day and we are not allowed to sell tickets because of health and safety. "I just hope people already have them by then if they want to see 11 out of the top 12 GP stars, last year's World Under-21 champion and runner-up and other exceptional riders like Jarek Hampel. "I'm just fearful Poole fans will turn up on the day like they usually do and be disappointed because I truly don't want that to happen. I'm worried because there is a possibility the doors may have to be closed. "It doesn't happen often. We just don't want regular fans to be disappointed if it does because we are full up. "It's just one meeting. The rest of the year you can just turn up on the day. "This day is not going to be like that. @It's a gala meeting, a massive day for the club and speedway in general. "But get your tickets and don't be disappointed by having to look in from the outside. "The grandstand is pretty much sold out. There are still tables left in the restaurant but they are going fast. "There are plenty of standing tickets available. "If you are looking for a seat, there certainly won't be any available on the door, so to secure a seat you need to buy your ticket before the day by ringing 0870 111 3000. "Everyone who comes to the meeting will receive a voucher for reduced or free admission to our home meeting against Lakeside on March 12. "It will allow adults and OAPs to get in for £10, rather than £15 and £13, and under-16s for nothing, rather than £4."
  12. The date was purposely chosen. First of all it starts the Poole 60th Season with a big bang. The riders are all available because neither the Swdish or Polish speedway seasons have started. f the date had been a weekend in the summer, then the field would have been severely weakened. There's a risk the weather will be wet, but its an afternoon meeting rather than night so it won't be too cold hopefully.
  13. Not sure who he has replaced or if they have increased the field size. Matt had been inundated with calls from riders wanting to take part. Perhaps Pre-meeting qualifying heats were being considered, with the winners going through to the main event. Either way, only just over 6 weeks and the big day will be here. Really looking forward to it.
  14. Well done Noddy. Clean sweep of the Aussie summer.
  15. The meeting sounded ridiculously too long. What was the crowd like? Decent? Well done to those who brought us the updates, and BIG well done to the current Poole second string who swept all before him in every round. Chris Holder. Australian Champion.
  16. Yes well done to the IOW for their input into his development. I certainly believe he will hit the season running and be a force from the get go.
  17. Woohooo!! 4 out of 4 for Poole's number 3! Well done Noddy! NEW AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION - CHRIS HOLDER!
  18. I don't think anyone has dropped out. I didn't pay enough atention to who was ni the lineup, and thought Holder was. My guess is that if a rider does drop out, he will be the replacement. Zabik is in and I assumed Holder was as well.
  19. Bound to have been quiet over Christmas and New Year. But wouldn't have thought 120 would have been sold in a day. Shows its going to be a packed house regardless of the naysayers. Colin Cooke, yes I apologise for the name calling but you are also guilty, continuously refering to Matt as "The Hairdresser". And no he is not taking a cut of the booking fee. If you have any proof that he is, then please post it on here. In fact Matt said that because of the booking fee, those who have purchased their tickets through the BIC would be given their souvineer programs of the event compeletely free, which will cover the booking fee anyway. So the only thing stopping you from coming is because its Poole putting on the event instead of your beloved Coventry, correct?
  20. I never use the stadium carpark, ever. Why have to wait 20-30 minutes to get out of it when you can park across the road for free and not be stuck in a bottleneck?
  21. Why should you worry Derren, as you have said on numerous occassions that you won't be there.
