  1. No, they didn’t. But they were all contacted to tell them they need to make their own arrangements to get to Leicester as there are no coaches running. The Poole promotion took a hit in the thousands with the double cancellation of 3 coaches. Still plenty making the journey up but not in the numbers of last Saturday or Sunday. My guess is BSN are the big winners.
  2. Lewy, you need to get back down to Poole. Plenty of dirt on the track, perhaps too much at times. Track has been great thanks to Terry the track man.
  3. Even though there are now no coaches coming up,( there were three full coaches) will be lots of Pirate fans taking a day off and making the long trip north to Leicester. We are congregating on the first bend to cheer the boys on to back to back titles. The NID boys will also be there. (Never In Doubt) If both teams ride to their potential, the title is hopefully coming south again. If Lions pull back the deficit and go on to win it, well done to them and I will be one of the first to congratulate. Lets hope there’s plenty of hard racing, some controversy, ad a result that will have enraged some and pleased others. As long as Poole are on the right side come heat 15, that’s all that matters. If not, then we woz robbed!
  4. That’s a massive improvement. Looks like the Poole track though a little slicker. Not surprising considering the weather due tomorrow. Feeling confident this will go ahead. Come on Pirates, no mistakes. Back to back titles. We deserve it.
  5. Well seeing as my info came from one of the Leicester trackman who actually posted this info on here, perhaps you should catch up with the thread. That’s exactly what they intend to do.
  6. It doesn’t matter how much it rains in the next two days if the track has now been bladed off to base. Thursday and Friday are dry days. They can put a dressing down on Friday morning and be good to go. No reason now why this won’t go ahead.
  7. As I said yesterday morning, the meeting is scheduled for Friday. A shame no coaches now coming up, so a loss of at least 150-200 Poole fans due to a work day. Still think we will have over a hundred Pirates fans making the arduous journey north. Poole at full strength. Are Leicester going to bring back Howarth from his honeymoon? Has he got any energy left? Is Morris riding or arriving in Aus? Hopefully both are ready to ride and we can (Final)ly celebrate back to back titles.
  8. Global warming for all to see. Weather patterns have changed dramatically. In October 2017 I flew my Paraglider 12 hours, 2018 I flew 10 hours 20 mins. In 2021 it was 6 hours and this October 2 hours 40 mins. I log every flight. Weather is getting worse with stronger winds and more rain. I fly at nearly every opportunity and haven’t missed an opportunity this month. No chance of flying in the next 7-10 days. Believe it or not there are still climate change deniers. They see snow one winter morning and say, if there’s snow, there’s no global warming. There’s not enough words in the Oxford English Dictionary to describe their stupidity.
  9. It could possibly have been run yesterday but the track needed to be completely bladed off. And Leicester clearly don’t have a blade and one is being shipped in this week. As the trackman has been taken I’ll, this has clearly delayed any decision making, delaying things further. As for scraping the playoffs, that is never, ever going to happen. It’s a huge money earner for promotions with huge crowds. Nearly every sport has playoffs, even football. It brings in welcome income. To say there’s a league champions and a playoff champion is utter nonsense. Agree that the season could be shortened slightly so that playoffs take place in September with the final beginning of October and the KO Cup after playoffs are completed.
  10. Judging what’s now moving up the country, it would never have been on even if the track was good to go. Very heavy rain due to hit the area in the next couple of hours.
  11. It seems I have upset a few on here for posting it was off as soon as I heard. Thought the point of a forum was to inform. Should I have just kept it to myself until the news was posted on official channels? Or should I give out the info so that people can change their, plans for the day? October is generally a dry month with cooler conditions. This year is has been exceptionally warmer with a low pressure system stuck to the west of the U.K. due to the position of the jet stream, and this is feeding moist air up over the U.K. and with it setting off heavy rain over the country. This happening is quite unusual but not rare. It still doesn’t look like this weather pattern is breaking down soon.
  12. Well I posted it was off nearly an hour before it was made official. I don’t understand why there was such a delay in getting it online. Takes a few seconds to type it and post on Twitter, then a few minutes to get it on the website. Next Friday is the date at the moment though surely next Saturday would mean a bigger crowd with more travelling support. As for getting a blade in to remove the slop, why has it taken so long for the bleeding obvious to happen?
  13. I think the Jubilee meetings are destined to be axed. As for the nonsense of running the playoffs on August Bank Holiday, what utter drivel. Why run a meeting, guarenteed to bring in a big crowd, on a date when a Bank holiday meeting will bring in a big crowd regardless of it being league, cup or testimonial? Some just don’t have any business savvy. On another note, it looks like tomorrows pairs meeting at Leicester is biting the dust. Or should I say slop?
  14. The Leicester track staff need to scrape off all the clay, get it back to base and run it ultra slick. Only chance they have. Alternatively, use another track like Monmore or Oxford which can cope with the weather.
  15. It’s what’s happening. And it gets even better. Nick Morris flies back to Australia on Tuesday. The Cooks are not leaving the U.K. until the final is completed.
  16. The staff are currently working on the Leicester track. It’s all a go for now. Just keep everything crossed we dodge the showers.
  17. Forecast has changed overnight and now heavy rain is pushing up the eastern side of the country. Looking at its track it will hopefully miss Leicester but Met Office do say an 80% chance of rain at 3pm before leaving a dry late afternoon and evening. Of course that means all of us Poole fans will be well on our way by then and it could be a totally wasted day. Fingers crossed it misses as we really don’t want to watch 4 riders wobbling around on a wet greasy track for the showpiece Championship Grand Final. What has caused all this is the jet stream position throwing weather front after front straight over northern France and the U.K. it’s stuck and will be for at least another week. Meaning warm above average temperatures on a strong SW wind but leading to lots of the wet stuff, torrential at times. Very frustrating. We are leaving around 11 am and the coaches at 11.30.
  18. Don’t forget the clocks go back tonight. Some might turn up an hour late.
  19. Hopefully many Poole fans will still be able to make the trip, but clearly some will have previously arranged commitments which will stop them from coming up. Still, I shall be there with many others on the first bend and hopefully we will have a decent meeting on a rideable track.
