Surely they have insurance? -
I was unduely harsh on KK, but his GP form has been diabolical so far this year. The reason Harris and Nicholls don't bother with the qualifiers is because there are no other Brits threatening their places. It would serve Harris and Nicholls right if the GP organisers went for Kennett and AN Other in 2009. We do need qualifiers because a closed shop is unfair. But it brings with it the dregs of Ferjan, Sullivan, Pepe etc, which is not good. Perhaps they should be banned from qualifying rounds? If a rider has been in the series and got booted off, perhaps they can't re-enter?
-
The GP organisers don't want to see the likes of Sullivan, Monberg, Ferjan, etc under any circumstances. They bring nothing to the GP series at all. In fact they make it dull. The GP series need fresh blood in it and the likes of Holder and Saifudinov and even Kennett must be allowed in to give it a go. If a rider fails to make the top 10, they should automatically miss out on the following year unless they have been unfortunately injured. Riders like Bjarne, Dryml, KK, etc should be forced to give way if they can't cut it. Sure there's always winners and losers like any league table, but riders shouldn't just be give a GP slot after 2/3/4 years of not progressing.

Thanks for the report Flagrag. looking at that field it would not have suprised me if Holder had won that meeting. To say he is not ready is frankly rubbish. He is doing well in all leagues and in Poland he is scoring very big. The only thing he lacks is the backing and having enough quality equipment for GPs. Racing and skill wise he is already good enough to challnge. I also don't believe that he would be overlooked for a lesser rider because he is an Aussie. The GP series need the very best riders in it, and to pass over Holder to put in another Pole/Swede/Croatian etc would be foolhardy by the powers that be. It would have been clearly noticed what happened to Holder last night and I am quietly confident he will get a permanent wildcard. And Anders, yes I know Emil Saifudinov is a great talent. Been watching his meeting at Bydgoszsz this year, but I feel Holder has a little bit more. Both of course will be a the top of the sport in years to come, alongside Batchelor, Woffinden, Languta, and Bridger (I hope being a Brit, and putting club loyalties aside)

Terrible night for Chris Holder with two EF's and an exclusion. Looks like it all went wrong in the space of 5 rides. The two he finshed gathered 5 points so when the bike worked he was fine. Pretty sure the powers that be will offer him a permanent wild card anyway. No one else out there with the ability and skill to compete with the top boys and they would give a place to Noddy every time over has beens Ferjan, Lung and Sullivan. Interestingly he did say in yesterdays paper he didn't have the backing to compete at GP level and needed much more sponsorship to get what was needed in place.

Hopefully GB's team will be Nicholls, Harris, Kennett, Richardson and Woffinden. I would not entertain Allen and Stead under any circumstances. -
Gp Series 2009

Lets be honest here. Sad to say but both Harris and NIcholls are out of their depth at GP level. Harris especially so. Other than the one off last year at Cardiff what has he done? IMO he should miss out next year. You can't give the best riders 20 metres head start out of the gate and expect to win. A good racer in the EL but that's really it. Ncholls is better and more pro but still lacks what is needed. I think he should be in the series next year, as GB need two riders in the series. Who would the second slot go to? God knows! That's how far GB have slipped on the world stage! Let's hope Woffinden is nurtured along and can enter the series in a couple of seasons. In the meantime we are completely in the speedway wilderness. -
He could hire a cheap car for £30.

The Dryml V Lindgren incident was a tough one. Dryml did nothing wrong, and didn't even see Lindgren. The reason I belive that Lindgren got excluded was because he used his elbw as he came through and the ref saw that. Thought Gollob deserved his win. Rode well all night. Correct 4 in the final. Also glad to see a full house. Much bigger crowd there tonight than there was 5 years ago when I was there.

British Final
Steve Shovlar replied to BrandonBomber's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Come on the riders knew how it all works and Kennett has the wild card on merit, and deservedly so. Woffindens time will come. Cardiff this year is far too early for him. Give him a year in the EL and then he will be good enough. Has the talent, just needs more experience. I think Eddie will do well at Cardiff. The shape of the track ill suit him and he can gate as well. Would be suprised to see him amongst the points. -

Well done Eddie Kennett. Cardiff wild card and fully deserved after the debacle of last season. -

I don't think Gollob altered his line at all. This is where he would have gone on the track regardless of whether Jonsson was there or not. Jonsson ried to go to the outside but clipped Gollobs wheel. Simple as that. Racing incident with no one to blame. -

I can't get 1k down from either torrent. Frustrating but never mind. Been using bit toorent less and less recently as it's getting on a bit now and many have switched to Rapidshare where stuff comes down in double quick time. -

Think you will find Gollob was gesticulating to the ref not about the race being stopped, but because another rider had fallen because of the bad shape the track was in and he wanted a major grade. The commentators read his anger incorrectly. -

The winner is surely Holta, as he won the final. He might not have scored as many points ( which add up for the title at the end of all rounds) as Lindgren but he won the meeting. -

Bridgers second season. How many has King had in the EL? I am not Bridgers biggest fan but he has far more talent, and once nurtured correctly could go a long way. King I am afraid won't get much further. -

You are kidding, right? He didn't get a sniff a couple of weeks ago on his home track aganist Poole club riders. Never going to be more than a second string/third heat leader. -

Trouble is both are not of the standard. However we will have a couple of Brits because they need to be there for tickets sales for Cardiff. Hopefuly Kennet, Bridger or Woffinden will come through soon. -

Everyone has their own opinion and I watched it as much as anyone else. Think Tatum and Co gave their call and others have agreed. I personally didn't and thought it was just a racing incident and unfortunate that the riders touched, causing a very horrific crash. Gollob was leading. He can go where he likes. Hope AJ is OK. -

There's been many GPs worse than this. Thought there was plenty to talk about and it came down to Who Dares Wins. -

Track a disgrace. Gollob/Jonsson incident I thought was just racing. Don't think there was any malice from Gollob who was leading and went where he wanted. JOnsson was unlucky to get hooked up on Gollobs back wheel trying to switch to the outside. Hope he isn't hurt and will be back quickly. Andersen, Dryml, Iversen, Hancock and Gollob all bit the dust and made the racing so tentative it ruined it as a spectical. Hopefully the riders will all be relatively unscathed and get on with racing on a safe track. -
Just been announced that the British GP will be broadcast on SS1HD in HD! Great news and about time!
