  1. Of course Newport didn't do it for the money. Silly statement. This meeting helped balance the books and the reason other clubs didn't apply for the event every year. Newport had no god given right to hold this meeting every january. The reason they did was the goodwill of other promotions. And I am sure fans from all over the country, as well as Poole fans, will come along to this winter meeting at wimborne road, providing the weather is OK. I don't think it's going to be called the New Year Classic. I think its going to be called the Champion and Champions. I perhaps could understand Newport fans being upset if it was business as usual and Poole had come along and nicked it from under them. But this is clearly not the case. Newport at this current time don't have a club, and no one knows exactly when they will be back on track. It could be 2009, it might not. Probate can drag on for months on end. They currently don't even have a promoter, just someone who wants to be promoter. He hasn't even been ratified by the BSPA and has no promoting rights. He obviously asked the Reading promotion to run the meeting, for for a reason only known to them they declined to do it as the BSPA only got one application, and that was from Poole. Matt ford said clearly on his press release yesterday that it is only a one year deal ( so keeping the winter meeting alive) and that in 2010 it could return to Newport. I can only think of all this hatred is aimed at Poole because we are the big successful club. If it had gone elsewhere, say Lakeside or Wolverhampton, or Somerset or Stoke, there would be very little moaning. But considering only Poole applied, other clubs clearly didn't want to bother with it. Sorry to say but all this moaning is making Newport fans look like a very sad and bitter bunch.
  2. I don't think they have even declared they are running in 2009 yet.
  3. So tell me oh wise one. Who, other than Poole, applied to run this meeting? Answer is no one! Perhaps rather than shouting out abuse you could have put your hand in yoour pocket and applied yourself. I mean, no other promoter than Matt Ford applied for it. If I say it enough times you might take that sentence in.
  4. That article in the Star was completely wrong. I have known about this meeting at Poole since the begining of the month when Poole got the nod. Wasn't much of a battle seeing Poole were the sole club who applied to run it. I can understand frustration but you are aiming it at the wrong people. Its a one year deal and Newport might get it back in 2010 if they are up and running. But they don't have a god given right to run it anyway. Think it would be better to share it about different clubs myself.
  5. What do you mean object? The BSPA informed every club the meeting was up for tender, and again I will say. ONLY POOLE APPLIED TO RUN IT. So why would anyone object to that as they had their chance but didn't want to run it themselves.
  6. Good rant Star. Hope you now feel better. Tell me, if everything was in place, why didn't they apply to run it? The BSPA told all clubs to come back to them before September 30th. Only Poole bothered. Rather than aim your venom at an innocent club and promoter, perhaps you should be venting your rage at your new promoter for not getting his tender in on time.
  7. Who is the new newport promoter, and I have to ask, why didn't he apply to run it? Newport fans are all upset but it's not Poole's fault. If Poole hadn't stepped in there would be no NYC anyway.
  8. For the umteenth time, Poole were the only club to submit a request to hold the meeting. that's why they won it. Why not contact the Reading promotion and ask them why they let your club down by not applying to run it at Newport?
  9. Butu here's the problem. No one wanted to run it at newport. Reading through the Newport thread in the PL section, it seems someone asked the Reading promoters to run it at Newport, but they obviously didn't want to otherwise they would have applied. All this libellous BS about Matt ford applying for the meeting before Tim Stone had been buried is garbage and the writer knows that as well. Posts like that are just set in inflame rather than look at the situation sensibly and logically. Big bad Poole trample over the small fry clubs. Not true is it? All Matt Ford has done is make sure the event continues whilst Newport find a new owner and once they are back up and running, the chances are it will return there.
  10. No. But they are the only club who applied to run it. What would you rather have? No meeting in the winter, or the winter meeting all can enjoy and attend?
  11. It has always gone out to tender but there was a gentlemans agreement for Newport to run it as they needed the money it generated, so others did not apply. Now that Newort are currently a defunct club what is the point of them still having it? Until they are resurrected why should this meeting also go down the pan?
  12. Rob, no other club other than Poole applied to run it. Several clubs showed an interest but didn't apply in the end.
  13. A bit of a ridiculous statement. If Poole hadn't held it it would not have taken place. And it's only for one year. Newport don't have a current promoter and until all legalities are sorted there won't be any speedway at Newport so why be bitter?.
  14. Well considering Newport are no longer running it would be a bit stupid keeping it there, don't you think?
  15. Did you see Holder in last nights Polish final? He did Adams, the home rider, up like a kipper the two times they met.
  16. I waited until now and its playing fine with no buffering. Excellent performance by Noddy. The GPs await this super talented youngster who had Adams twice in his pocket, once from the back.
  17. Good idea KrisB. Why have a German no hoper in it in Poland? Will hardly have hundreds of Germans streaming over the border to support him. Smolinski is a reserve/second string at best. Let Holder have the ride and a prelude to what he might be able to do if included in next years series.
  18. First and foremost the question must be asked, "What times does X Factor start"? Secondly, why on earth have the final meeting of the year at a country with no real speedway fans? Ticket sales would always be poor when there are no more than a handful of speedway fans in the country. Everyone who was going to be there tonmight was going to have to fly or drive in to this virtually unprenounceable place. The final meeting should be at Cardiff. A roof, a big prize and plenty of fans to watch the super prix. I went to the German GP at berlin a few years ago and the crowd was about 6-7000 at best. Made up of foreigners and a handful of Germans. BSI needs to dump the Germans out and bring in a round in Bangkok.
  19. As others have said, what a cock up! Unfortunately the people who have travelled all that way to Germany don't have a leg to stand on with getting the hotel/travel expenses paid for. The writing was on the wall yesterday with cancelled practice. This has come as no suprise with the postponement a far better thing to do rather than start the emeting and have another fiasco like Gothenburg. Feel sorry for those that have made the trip out there though.
  20. Completely forgot this meeting was on. As Scott says the most important thing is Holder and watt not getting injured. Lanhams early withdrawal to save himself for Mondays second leg through the meeting wide open.
  21. I have seen Darcy Ward several times this season and he is going to be a star.
