Vinnie Foord - is he too dangerous?
Steve Shovlar replied to BackInTheDHSS's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This really is a vile thread. The lad is learning and is no doubt going to be a very good rider. The OP should be ashamed of himself for starting such an awful thread. -
Stadium Admission Prices

Speedway is a £10 sport. Yes. In 1977. Speedway is certainly not overpriced. -
I wouldn’t mind seeing Anders Rowe back at Poole. Plenty of potential. Also Dan Thompson is coming on and could be decent. We need to sign riders capable of improvement on their starting average. Both Vinnie Foord and Tobias Thomsen have done well and it would be great to get them both back. Lawson Rowe Z Cook Foord Thomsen Plus two.

First of all hope Scott Nicholls injury isn’t too badly and he is back on a bike for the start of next season. A proper racer. The meeting was over and done as soon as Nicholls crashed. Oxford could never cover for him. Heeps rode very well though to be honest. Gilkes gave it a go but the rest were abject. All too easy for Pirates. Next week a going through the motions to about heat 9/10. Special mention for Vinnie Ford who was excellent and silenced those that abused him earlier on in the meeting. And for Tobias, who had a cracking meeting, the highlight beating Masters.

Super Vinnie. Paid 9 Max so far. Quality young rider. ☠️ -
Me and Rob leaving at 4pm for a trundle up. Nice weather today compared to 24 hours ago when it would never have gone ahead at either venue. Think it’s going to be a close one on BSN. Guessing the Oxford fans will give Vinnie the bird, even though the video evidence showed he did little wrong. Doubt there will be anywhere near the size of last weeks crowd but the NID’s will be on the third bend no doubt. Let’s hope for a great tough meeting with lots of controversy. They are always the best meetings. Just got to try and stop the 8 point Oxford swing in 13 and 15.

Er……what would be the point in dragging all staff, riders and fans to Wimborne Road tonight when it’s clear the forecast is accurate and that everywhere is wet already? The radar shows heaving rain crossing the channel and will hit in the next couple of hours. So if Poole hadn’t called it off, then when it pours down the same people on here would be moaning about Poole not calling it off early and saving people a wasted journey, time and money. https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar

Sad to hear about this. RIP Len. A fantastic servant to the sport over the decades.

Quite a few years back now, there was a young rider by the name of Justin Elkins. He was very fast. After meetings he took to the track and recorded times similar to the meeting. A best of three race against another young rider was organised and young Justin beat Jason Crump. in the match races. One went on to become World Champion, while the other faded in obscurity within a few seasons. Just like Ashton Boughen, Justin Elkins didn’t like riders around him and ended up trying to cover it up by having false EF’s etc. He had the ability but couldn’t get over the closeness of other riders. I remember going to Monmore and Elkins was riding at number two for Poole. In heat one he gated and held off an almost unbeatable Ronnie Corey for four laps. We were gobsmacked. I think that was the highlight in his career.
