Plymouth Gladiators 2024
Steve Shovlar replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
They are. And in a disgraceful shape. Need investment and 6 new players! I have been watching AFCB this season as well as town. The two clubs won’t meet for many years so no conflict of interest. Town always first. Just like the Cherries as a team and believe they will do better as the season goes on. I know at the mo Plymouth haven’t got anyone other than Barker signed. A few riders have said no due to travelling distances from their bases on the continent. Just not worth it financially for them. But you an be sure Gary May is on the case! -

Bournemouth won’t be relegated and have a decent side. They had a very tough start to the season playing top 6 sides. Form is decent and they will finish above Fulham, Wolves, Forest, Luton, Burnley and probably Everton. Bit of a mainstay in the top flight over the last decade. New training facility well on the way to completion and when that’s done, the new stadium will be built where the current training pitches are now. As for the 11500 capacity inc away fans, it’s obligatory to give away fans 10% of the attendance. Bournemouth could fill a 20,000 stadium no problem whatsoever. Sorry Plymouth fans to divert from your thread but I know there’s no news whatsoever for your team at the moment. -

More likely now to be down to TV scheduling. If AFCB play on a Saturday 5.30 or Sunday then it would be a Wednesday night match. Barker the only signing for Plymouth so far. Hearing Continental riders of middle order not interested in the U.K. due to Brexit, distance and little value. -

Might only get 11,500 crowds but virtually impossible to get a ticket. Demand outstrips ticket availability 3 to one. A 25,000 seater stadium would see a 25,000 crowd every home match.AFCB going the same way as Brentford and Brighton in the next three years. -
Sounds like one big league would be the ideal scenario. Yes, riders would only have one club but the sport would be better for it.
-
Hate the musical chairs this time of year. Fans favourites moved on, simply because of a points limit which next season is overly harsh. Good luck to Kyle and hopefully he will be back in Pirates colours in the future.

Reading the reports from Max parents, broken ankle and broken wrist with bruising to the lung. Hospital operating on both broken bones today and keeping him in for a few days. Whilst worrying times for his parents, the injuries are nowhere near as serious to miss next season. A broken wrist is 6 weeks, broken ankle a bit longer and further time to strengthen. A young lad will heal faster than someone older. Expect Max to be fit and ready to go come March.
-
Sounds nasty. Best of luck to the lad on a speedy recovery.

Kyle’s been a great servant for Poole and still got what it takes. He can pop out and take some big scalps when not expected. A shame he doesn’t fit the jigsaw puzzle. Other clubs will be queuing up to sign him no doubt.

Think if we had a choice between Brennan and Rew I would choose Brennan for a couple of reasons. First of all he is British, so Championship comes before Sweden/Denmark/Poland. And we also get 2.5% average reduction which puts the jigsaw together. Brennan seems to have been around for a while now but he is still young and improving. Just needs to get more consistent. Rew certainly has great potential but his eyes seem more set on Poland than U.K. and that’s where his 100% will be given imo. Especially as he has been named as the U21 rider for extraleague club.

Taken from Darcy Ward interview in Speedway Star 2 years ago. One name to look out for (and learn how to spell) is Tate Zischke who has just turned 16 and shows a great deal of promise. The Poole promotion has already been tipped off about his potential and if all things continue to go to plan, he could be sighted there in 2022 or at the latest 2023. (Injury put paid to that) A farmer’s son from the village of Grandchester, west of Brisbane, Zischke is sponsored by Ivor Harm, who looked after Darcy from his junior days and remains heavily involved, especially with emerging talent. ‘He just reminds me of me at the same age,” says Darcy. Watch this space….

Rock solid as usual. The only weakness is at reserve, where we have two youngsters who could find the going very tough at first. But Sam Hagon has shown a liking for the Poole track and has done ok here. Max is an unknown quantity at the moment but reports show a young lad with trackcraft and one that could well be going places. Lawson will be solid as usual, the Cooks will continue to improve. Brennan is hot and cold but does know the fastest way around Poole and just needs to become more consistent. That could well happen under Middlo. As for Tate Zischke (god knows how you pronounce that!) he will need time to adjust and get used to British tracks, so expect hot and very cold meetings. Of course this lineup is nothing official and the team could be completely different. Guess we will have to wait and see.

New rider must come in on an assessed 4 rather than a 5 then.
-
If rumours are true, 2.56 and 2.0
-
No. A 5 pointer capable of hitting 7.
-
Brennan will fit with a new exciting 5 pointer in the last place.
-
Richard Lawson. 8.48 Ben Cook. 7.39 Zach Cook. 6.22 New rider. 5.0 Max Perry. 2.0 Sam Hagon. 2.56 =31.65 Leaving 6.35 for final rider.
-
if Hagon and Perry were the reserves, we would be quite vulnerable. No doubt both are talents but always good to have one reserve who could bang in the points if called upon. The downside of such a ridiculous points limit.
-
Judging by the rain we have had today and right now there was no way the meeting could have been re-arranged for tomorrow afternoon.
-
Ridiculous over 5 minutes. Both lots of fans were chanting F VAR! The linesman got it spot on, then VAR drew lines skew whiff to make it look like Rodriguez was onside!
-
So what’s the conversion between the leagues? I was with Gary May this afternoon at the footy but we didn’t talk about speedway at all. Should have asked him but we were both enjoying Cherries first win.
-
Lawson 8.70 -2.5% 8.48 Ben Cook. 7.39 Zach Cook. 6.22 Reserve 1. 2.0 Reserve 2. 2.56 Rew. 6.0. (Not sure this is correct as not sure conversion from Premier to Championship.) =32.65 means we have 5.35 for last rider. Rowe is 5.8 so he is ruled out. And “if” Rew is 6, it would rule out Kyle Newman who after the 2.5 deduction is 5.5. Anyone know the conversion formula from Prem to Championship?
-
I don’t care.
-
Of course we aren’t. And Poole retain the services of both Cooks. Believe 5 have now been signed and two second string berths to go. I don’t know who they are but one Danny Ford said is an opportunity not to pass over. Must be on a lower average than Anders Rowe. Rew? 4 average in the PL. Possibly 6 in the Championship? If it’s down to fractions of a point, then it’s not too difficult to work out who would fit the last spot and who would not.
