  1. He is a speedway legend and is getting a farewell at Poole next month. Looking forward to it.
  2. Masters not happy there giving the finger. Outwitted.
  3. Another really nasty crash in two days. This time for Laguta. Clipped Wozniak’s back wheel and headfirst into fence. Awful.
  4. That looked deadly as Freddie had no control hanging on the front of his bike. Relieved they are both up.
  5. Awful track conditions, little to no passing. Normal meeting.
  6. OK it would take a monumental effort from Redcar to win at Poole, who haven’t lost at home this season. Poole are a better and stronger team than Redcar. Whilst there is a chance, it’s a slim one and Poole would be well up for it if it means the difference between finishing top or not. I will be the first to congratulate Redcar if they win at Wimborne Road. But even though we are now weaker, we still have enough through the rest of the team. It’s not arrogance. It’s belief in the team.
  7. Not going to happen. Even though Purates are weaker with the loss of Stefan, we are still too strong for Redcar to turn us over at Poole.
  8. By the way I thought the Scunthorpe fans where we stood were a very friendly bunch, up for a bit of banter.
  9. Clearly with a track like that, the Pirates decided to stay safe rather than risk an injury. It just wasn’t worth it. We have already lost Stefan which makes us much weaker at reserve and to lose another rider in a frankly meaningless meeting would have been foolhardy. We are already top and will finish there so the team did the right thing and came away in one piece.
  10. Times were fine for the leading rider who was often half a straight or more in front riding three feet from the fence. The riders behind had no vision and were filled in.
  11. The meeting wouldnt have survived under normal circumstances. A shame I never photoed the track but clearly they didn’t want anyone on it before the first race. Pressure of the cutoff date clearly influenced Scunthorpe who knew running the meeting would favour them and they took full advantage of it. But all it really did was gift them the three points and seriously short change the paying public by serving up garbage. Perhaps if there was no pressure of cutoff the meeting would have been pulled.
  12. The track was bad. Clearly calling it off to come back would have been sensible and fair. No visiting team could have coped with that. And I say that with a 11 hour round trip.
  13. May be so. As you know I have been critical of the Poole track. Tonight it was drenched by heavy rain and deep. No parade or intro of riders. No chance of a rider to do a lap before the meeting. Riders behind were visibly slowing and trying to see, coming out of the second bend. A shame as it was the biggest crowd this season at Scunthorpe.
  14. The track was very bad but I had no idea Pirates wanted it off. Completely understandable though as it could have caused serious injury. It was unfit for racing. And so it proved as there wasnt any. Perhaps Danny said to the riders to stay safe and come away in one piece. Wasn’t worth risking an injury.
  15. Well what a shame to travel so far for what was the worst meeting of the season. 14 heats and not one pass. I witnessed the Brum meeting a couple of weeks ago but this surpass that. I will say Rob Peasley said there was one pass on the third bend of lap one but I dont recall it A river running over the first bend on our arrival showed what the track was like and it was a snooze fest of gate and go. Riders who missed the gate were plastered in dirt had no vision and tailed off. Scunthorpe were quicker out the tapes and it was over on the second bend. When a Poole rider tried to make a pass like Basso, the Scunthorpe rider fell off. I had heard this track was meant to be good but sorry to say I was completely unimpressed. Awful stuff. The Ref was useless. Allowed Ellis and Jorgensen massive rollers unpunished. Havvy was useless. Decided to do a t/r in heat ten against Ellis when heat nine he left Gilkes in for what would have been an easier race. Got lucky when Ellis fell when well clear. Basso, Cook and Hume struggled badly in the treacherous conditions. Congrats to Scunthorpe though. They had their bikes setup to gate and go and thats what they did.
  16. coming through v heavy rain at Doncaster. Will make it but weather? Fingers crossed.
  17. Now 14 miles to Sheffield. Through accident. 49 miles to go. Fingers crossed!
  18. We are not going to make it with maps now saying 7.35 and we are at a standstill. Only getting worse with 8 mile jam at Sheffield due to car fire. ten hours in a car and watching updates.
