  1. A shame he thought of it that way, but fair play. But the news must have been expected, it wasn’t sudden.
  2. The start up should not be too high. The current club is worthless and if the current promoter doesn’t come to tapes next season the BSPA should/will revoke the licence and give it to a new promotion. It would then be up to the new promotion to do a deal with the stadium over rental fees. The current promotion must realise for anyone to come in to revive the club, they can’t stand in the way and try to block. Better for a new promotion to avoid the current one almost completely and deal direct with the bspa and stadium landlords. Yes, an airfence would need to be purchased, as well as track equipment. And the BSPA bond would need to be paid. But you don’t buy the club from the previous promotion. It’s worthless. Start up a new speedway club. “Newcastle Saphires”. It can be done under a consortium of fans willing to put in, say £10,000 each. Or less if more fans. Fresh blood. Fresh ideas. I went to Newcastle for the first time this year and to be brutally honest it lacked sporting intensity. Going through the motions is a good phrase. I don’t know the current promotion and I am sure they meant well and wanted success. But preaching to the already converted and dwindling crowd through covid and failure on track with a weak team is nearly always doomed to failure. So many people live in the area it seems almost incredible they can’t get more through the gate with a decent team. Like a team on the south coast who struggled then failed this year, there are good rumblings coming out and I hope the same can be said of Newcastle.
  3. Where did Basso being sick come from? The Leicester announcer? Could have been told Basso isn’t riding because he is not well, after coming off in Denmark. Announced as Basso missing as he is not well. Fingers crossed he is back for Wednesday.
  4. Where was Barker last night? And a big no to 6 man teams from me. Awful thought.
  5. Magic was sensational for Poole when he rode for us. He was a total class act. Won us the league.
  6. Surely you were there? Not meant disrespectfully but you are local.
  7. How many times does it need saying that he fell in the Danish Playoff Final and hurt himself. The info is online if you wish to look for it. We would have been far better with him riding than not. Even if he had a poor meeting it would be practice incase we meet in the playoffs. Chances are he would have done very well around there.
  8. Basso is not ill. He was injured in Denmark. We really missed him last night as track conditions would have suited him perfectly. Probably a Pirates win should he have ridden.
  9. Danny Ford told me last night at Leicester that Basso was ruled out after crashing in Denmark and hurting his ribs.
  10. Just got back to Poole at 11.30 so we’ll done for getting the meeting on in good time. better than average meeting at Leicester with some passing, albeit 6 inches from the fence, or if you are Andersen up the inside. A good crowd and plenty of Poole fans made the trip. Well done to Ben Cook for a very good score on his first ever visit. Very impressive. As usual Pirates flop at the end of away meetings and this time have given up an 8 point lead. After being on the wrong end of a 5-1 in heat 13 when in 1 and 3, heat 15 saw Poole chose 1 and 3 again against the same two Leicester riders! Why on Earth give them the same gates and almost the same result as 2 heats earlier? Made no sense to me and 2 and 4 were the better gates. Worral off 2 and King off 4 would have been better. Did the riders want 1 and 3? So nicely poised. 8 points to make up and no tacs allowed. Think it’s advantage Poole in a couple of weeks time.
  11. Unlike fans of other clubs who in the past celebrated finishing top as winning the league title, Pirates fans understand that finishing top has no more kudos than being able to choose the opposition in a semi final.
  12. LEICESTER - Nick Morris, Dan Thompson, Ryan Douglas , Kyle Howarth, Hans Andersen, Joe Thompson, Zaine Kennedy - Team manager Stewart Dickson POOLE - Charles Wright (Guest), Ben Basso, Steve Worrall, Ben Cook, Danny King, Dillon Ruml (Guest), Danyon Hume - Team manager Neil Middleditch
  13. What an utter disgrace. Top riders can’t get around it. Shoot the trackman and ban the club from international meetings.
  14. Make the track as slick and best as possible. Make it so passing is almost impossible. That’ll make sure no bugger comes to watch!
  15. Clearly we are a lot weaker than our last visit when we won. Personally not too fussed about the cup but will go along to cheer the boys. 51-39.
  16. Usual meeting at the toy track. For once Wolves faced a team who outbattled them. Only in the last 5 races was there anything to watch.
  17. Fully deserved by Dads Army. Wolves fans must be bitterly disappointed in that performance.
  18. Never seen the thumbs up using the middle finger.
  19. Makes no difference. Real Pirates speedway legend. Poole Hall of famer. Got a massive welcome home last week. Fully deserved. Hero.
