Fabulous final. Reversed right up my drive after that dreadful start. Well done boys. Fantastic! -

Think GB are more or less out of it already. Give the youngster some experience. Not likely to trouble the scorers but neither is Bewley the way he is riding. -

Bewley needs to be dropped. Give Brennan a chance can’t do any worse. -

Poole held the World Cup in 2004. They had temp stands on three and four. The place was absolutely packed to the rafters. Racing was sensational. (The Havvy v Polish rider one of the many highlights) BV have a great track but Manchester is not a hotbed of speedway and no one would go there out of choice. -

Trick likes GB. That puts the moccas on us! Only about 100 people in that big temp stand. Embarrassing. Such a small crowd. Get about as many at a Poole league meeting. Last time at BV surely. -

With it being in TV and Manchester the wrong end of the country it didn’t enter my mind to travel all that way to watch Poland win again. And £50 for a ticket? Who the hell made that price up? £30 more realistic. I shall be cheering in GB from the comfort of my lounge, having spent the grand total of zero. A trip to this would be £100 fuel, £50 ticket, food plus car park, easily over £200. No wonder ticket sales are so poor. -

The semis should have been held at Championship tracks with the final at BV. Scunthorpe one semi, Poole the other. Wimborne Rd would be packed for a semi. Though not against the England footy tomorrow! Run it on the Thursday. -
Tom Brennan took a right purler tonight at Brum. He got up after a couple of. Ins. Hope he’s OK and nothing serious.

Poole v Edinburgh Weds 3rd July 2024.
Steve Shovlar replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just got back and I think it was slightly underwatered and just no grip out wide. Riders like Thomson and Sedgeman loved it as they gated and no one could catch them. Even Castagna gated ahead of Lawson and couldn’t be reeled in. It was frustrating watching riders trying hard to pass but getting nowhere. Terry the trackman told me tonight he has stepped back from doing the track as he has to look after his health first and foremost, so unsure who is doing the track but it wasn’t producing any racing tonight. A shame, though the fans were 100% behind the riders all night and the closeness of the scoreline kept it interesting. -

By a long long way this is the worst it has been this season. If it was like this every week no one would be here. Dont know what’s gone wrong but its rubbish. No doubt about it. -

Rubbish meeting tonight. Gate and go. Castagna beating Lawson sums it up. Good crowd, good atmosphere but track is extremely dull. Just nothing there for the racers. -

Good news it’s overcast meaning the track will be easier to maintain and keep the water in and dust away. Looking forward tonight after a long gap. Decent crowd expected and Edinburgh have riders to cause issues in Pickering and Sedgmen. Pickering showed his class last night in difficult conditions and should find it easier tonight, though the opposition will be tougher. -
Terrible news about his injuries ruling him out for the rest of this season. I had a chat with him at Poole and a very likeable lad indeed. I hope he mends quickly. Very difficult to replace the potential of Zischke for Workington this season. R/R might be the best bet but a reserve would have to take one of the rides and Workington have the worst reserves in the Championship. They would probably still be strong enough at home to cover for him but would probably need a guest away. Unless they look to replace but who has the potential out there that is willing to ride for half a season? Perhaps a reshuffle and a couple of riders come in, strengthening up the reserve berths?
-
Best wishes to Zischke who has leg and pelvis injuries after a crash tonight at BV.
-
World of difference between Perry and Foord. Anyone with a speedway brain can see it on the track.
-
It was a very nasty tumble for Vinnie and was surprised he walked away. There’s only so many times you can have a crash without some type of injury. Quite a loss considering the form he showing last night.

Excellent meeting tonight on a very good track with no dust until the final couple of heats. Extremely well watered with plenty of dirt made for a trick first few heats but after about heat 4 the track produced some very good races. A special mention for a couple of riders who were quite excellent. Vinnie Foord who really should have captured third place but dropped points in a nasty fall with a do or die swoop in his last down the back straight. He flipped and went cartwheeling into the fence and was lucky to walk away. Some of his passing was excellent and if he could gate we would have a very good up and coming young rider. Also worthy of a mention is Sonny Springer, the youngest rider on show tonight. He had never ridden the track before but he won his last two races and looked fast and stylish. A rider to look out for. The meeting went down to a runoff between Jake Mulford who had been excellent tonight, and only beaten by Foord, as was Sam Hagon who also only dropped a point to Foord. But the runoff was decided down the back straight of lap one when Hagon got his head in front and after that it was never in doubt. The U21 British Champ can now add the NLRC title to his honors. Well done to Mulford for a battling performance. A good nights entertainment.

Yes the racing was good tonight. Just a shame the promotion forgot to open the gates.

Good race heat 13 but the crowd….gods waiting room. Dont they know how to cheer? Chalk and cheese to Poole’s grandstand where the roof would have come off. And a terrible crowd there. A few hundred?

The whole problem with the Polish top flight this season is Lublin are so much better than every other team the season is a waste of time competition wise. No team should be allowed to build a team so dominant that they basically clean up everywhere. Polish authorities need a rethink to balance out the teams to make the league more of a spectacle IMO.

Berwick v Glasgow CL 22/06/24 7-00pm
Steve Shovlar replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Watched this but not great racing. Harris worth the admission fee alone but a lot of all over by first bend. Kemps ride against Harris was excellent. He is so hot and cold. A good rider in there somewhere trying to get out. As for the heat 15 exclusion, I agree with ref that Harris had to go. He brushed Kemps foot with his dirt deflector, unbalancing Kemp. Tough call but correct. Result never in doubt from heat 11. Berwick had no real answer to Harris and Worrall. -
The stadium was left to the council as a gift that it would always be a sporting stadium. If the council wanted to build houses on the land, Osbourne would be given the boot.
