  1. Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like we've landed on our feet.
  2. Can you give us Lions fans who don't know much about Damien Bates an idea of what good or bad changes he has made at Owlerton since he has been involved. Thanks.
  3. Say it ain't so. The new promotion are expecting Hemsley (who thought there was nothing wrong with the track & has speedway debts still to pay) to foot the bill for track changes? That isn't going happen during this 15 year lease then! ,
  4. I have never seen the Saturday restriction in any of the planning documents. If you look at the attached planning permission approved it just states the track cannot be used outside 08:00-22:30 daily and no more than 50 meetings can take place a year. http://fdweb.leicester.gov.uk/planning/fdweb/Image.aspx?pbfc=714
  5. The planning permission/consent is all on-line and available to view. I haven't had chance to trawl back through it again, but I am sure when I looked previously there was no stipulation about which day could be raced on, there was just a limit of, I think 50 meetings a year. If there was a restriction surely DH would have given this as a the reason previously. When I've spoke to him about the change he has always said it would be financial suicide based on the experience of a few meetings we held midweek._
  6. Am pretty sure all of The volunteers are still in place. Linda Jones has still been updating Facebook, twitter & web-site if any news is passed onto her.
  7. Palm-Toft for Lindgren. From world speedway.com (Friday) :- The Lions are back in track action on Saturday against the Coventry Bees. It will be the first time in five weeks that the Lions have raced at Beaumont Park and the second time in twenty-four hours that the two clubs have faced one another following the Elite League fixture at Coventry tonight. There are changes on both sides. The Bees are missing their top scorer and Grand Prix rider Krzysztof Kasprzak who is appearing in Round 2 of the Speedway European Championship in Latvia. Kasprzaks absence will be covered by a guest. Whilst for the Paul Chapman and Sons Lions they welcome back Paul Starke who was riding for his Premier League club Somerset last night but lose Ludvig Lindgren also due to a clash of fixtures with his second tier club the Newcastle Diamonds who have a match at Workington. It is a big plus to have Paul back in the side but that is counteracted by the fact that we lose Ludvig who has been our ace at reserve since he joined us and on current form he is our second highest scorer behind Nicolai Klindt at Leicester said the Lions Team Manager, Norrie Allan. Lindgrens place in the team will be filled by Michael Palm Toft who rides for Scunthorpe in the Premier League. The Dane guested for Leicester recently in their match at Belle Vue and ended the night as Leicesters top scorer with thirteen points which included three heat wins against one of his former clubs. I promised Michael after the Belle Vue meeting that should we require a guest again this season and his match average fitted he would be the first person I would contact to offer him another appearance. I am pleased that he was available and accepted our invitation to race for Leicester again added Allan. Coventry: 1. Guest tbc for Krzysztof Kasprzak, 2. Jason Garrity, 3. Danny King, 4. Josh Bates, 5. Chris Harris, 6. Kacper Woryna and 7. James Sarjeant Leicester: 1. Patrick Hougaard, 2. Aaron Summers, 3. Nicolai Klindt, 4. Paul Starke, 5. Szymon Wozniak, 6. Michael Palm Toft and 7. Josh Auty Read more http://worldspeedway.com/leicester-speedway-lions-at-home-at-last/
  8. If it was off due to Leicester, then surely BV would say It was at the request of Leicester. BV's reputation is in the gutter, why would they take the further bad press saying it was due to weather.
  9. You must think we've got short memories. He was outed a few pages back as a different Dave. Good to hear a team sponsor has been found & I'm all for improvements on the social media & PR side.
  10. Any news on a team sponsor? I think it's more worrying than the below average team line up, that for 2 years running the Lions have failed to secure a main sponsor, especially as I thought this was one of the things Neil Machin was brought in to assist with. I just hope the confirmation on a TV meeting may help lure a company to become a sponsor.
  11. What is the latest news on the club obtaining a team sponsor for 2016? DH said previously they couldn't have another year like this year without a main sponsor & I thought this was what Neil Machin was brought in to assist in.
  12. http://www.cabinet.leicester.gov.uk/documents/s63295/20132313%20-%201%20THE%20LIONS%20LEICESTER%20LIONS%20SPEEDWAY.pdf The planning documents show there is no restriction on the day speedway is run as long as it is between 08:00 - 22:30 and no more than 50 meetings per year. I spoke to DH 2 weeks ago when Glyn Taylor had the ride n slide event at the track & I asked him about the potential change of race night. He said the Lions would continue to ride on Saturdays whilst he was the promoter (no one else has offered to takeover). Said he couldn't sustain financial losses of racing in midweek, it would kill the club as crowds were down on weekdays. He quoted the Poole meeting & GB v Aus challenge match as examples.
  13. No Tom Perry today. Had a fall practising yesterday.
  14. Ah, yes you're right. With the new averages out for 1/9 do you have to get any new team to fit within those averages (if it was submitted today)or as its not September yet they can fit within the current averages? Think the above from Glennylion answers my question.
  15. Scunthorpe race on Saturday, so Douglas would've been unavailable to us, so it's good Edberg is back. I know it's unlikely, but could we have Edberg & Nielsen at Reserve then name JS at 8 & use him if Edberg is not upto it.
  16. Alex Edberg has tweeted he is back on Sat, so it can't be a change for him right?
  17. If Leicester get 2 x 3 point wins from the remaining 2 home meetings & get nothing from the two away meetings they will finish on 41 points. If Redcar get a 3 point home win v Glasgow but get nothing at Rye House they will have 41 points. Will it then go down to heat point difference or is there another method to seperate 2 sides with the same points?
  18. Regarding Doolan celebrating after heat 15. He said on Twitter he was told a 5-1 would win the meeting! I can forgive him if that's the case, but you have to wonder about what's going with the management/riders if they can't even get the score right!
  19. Agree with your post, but I don't have a big issue with the management on rider changes, as (I think it was you that said a few weeks ago that) if Roynon hadn't been injured we would've made the top 6. The other points in your post have been done to death, so don't want to go over them again. I have accepted the way things are and I will be happy for the time being if we see more meetings like Ipswich, Somerset & Newcastle. This opinion is probably biased by the thought that no speedway would be devastating. Had forgotten about the Premier challenge for team finishing 7-12th, at least it will give season ticket holders a bit better value than I thought. I just hope the number of non season ticket holders that attend & sponsorship etc is enough to ensure the meetings break even.
  20. Are Redcar Catchable? Just reviewed the remaining fixtures again and still have Leicester finishing 7th with only Redcar realistically catchable. Worky & Edinburgh already have too many points in the bag. Newcastle have 7 home meetings of the 10 remaining. Ipswich & Somerset have 2 meetings in hand and looking at the fixtures look like we can't catch them. This just leaves Redcar. They have the below meetings of which 5 of the 8 are away:- Vs h/a my predicted points haul Somerset a 0 Plymouth a 1 Scunthorpe h 3 Ipswich a 0 Leicester h 3 Glasgow h 3 Rye House a 1 Newcastle a 0 Total points 43 Lions remaining meetings :- Vs h/a my predicted points haul Sheffield h 3 Scunthorpe h 2 Rye a 1 Rye h 3 Redcar a 0 Berwick h 3 Scunthorpe a 0 Edinburgh h 2 Newcastle a 0 Total points 40 If Redcar don't win any of the away meetings and only pick up a point at both Rye House & Plymouth, then Leicester could catch them if they over achieve on my predicted points haul. ie: Take all 4 points at Rye House or get something Redcar or Scunthorpe & pick up max wins at home. Probably all wishful thinking, but its the only thing to cling to if the Lions want to make the play-offs.
  21. I meant it will affect the Leicester promotors financial situation with less (relevant) fixtures.
  22. Edberg injury news is another nail in the Lions play-off hopes. The other day I looked at the top 7 teams remaining fixtures & had the Lions finishing 7th. Everyone knows they need to pick up max points at home in the majority of the remaining home meetings & try and get a couple of away wins along the way. Think this just got a lot harder with Edberg out, especially as Karlsson is struggling with his injury & Doolan is not in the form he was a month or so ago. Can't imagine what the impact would be to the promotion if we missed the play-offs.
  23. Think we will get 41 points, same as last season, which got us 6th. Not sure if that will be good enough this year though. The Lions have now scored 36 on the last 3 visits to Workington.
