  1. Mr Ford is Im sure deeply upset and embarrassed at the unwanted attention events have embroiled him and his management team in through no fault of their own. I would suggest Mr Ford is echoing the feelings amongst supporters local to Poole for a long time following a series of things. No one wishes the career of such a talent implode but despite his ability, he has to remember that Mr Ford and ultimately teh fans pay his wages. He has caused upset and distress by his actions and he owes a great apology. Words are words and action will speak louder. Many riders Darcy's age would give their right arm for half his talent. They cant earn what he can nor get the support he does to further their career. He has to listen to Mr Ford, Middlo and those that mentor him or we will be reminising on ' Who was that Darcy fella 20 years ago that disappeared back to Oz'. Mr Ford is right, but if truth be known I dont think he now left with any other options unless Darcy himself switches off the self destruct button.
  2. I believe Middlo, Poole Promotion and the fans are all as much victims of Mr Wards behaviour in Oz. Darcy needs to find some humility for his actions past and present rather than an air of arrogance that he gives off. He has caused much embarrassment to Middlo and Poole by his actions, given he owes them a great debt for the never ending support they have provided since he came to Poole after a string of allegations. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink. Middlo and Poole have provided every opportunity as mentors to Darcy. If he will not listen to advice that will launch him onwards to great things, then Middlo cannot be held responsible. Im not a friend of Middlo, not sure I have ever met him. I see over years the massive praise from riders for his ability to manage. Calls to remove him are premature and will only shoot Speedway in the foot - again. As someone who reads the Bournemouth Echo, you do not have to be Einstein to see a common thread in their journalism that covers every topic of news - sensationalism by selective reporting. I know of other things where they pick one sentence from a page of comments and thats all which they print. Middlo doesnt print the Echo. Maybe their selective reporting needs future consideration by Poole, but you cant promote speedway without the support of the media and a good working relationship can promote a false confidence. So a quick telephone chat (poss believed off record - never trust that one!!) unprepared and a couple of comments taken out of context and the story is sensational. It sells papers!!! I do not wish to see Middlo victimised for comments that are clearly snapshots of a wider conversation or why should he be the fall guy for the actions of an irresponsible young man over whom he has no control of, 24000 miles away and who seems to have learnt nothing from the wisdom handed down to him by the management, Middlo or even his pal Chris Holder who himself cannot afford to be tarnished in his crowning year by a drink & drug driver. Middlo's comments I feel if expanded on would reflect the state of our society where no one takes responsibility anymore and there are no boundaries for young people, no punishment and a liberal system that gives them an air of arrogance. We have to remember that Australians are not Brits, they are not even Europeans and despite the fact they speak a form of English we understand, they come with different cultural values. This thread is ignoring the real villain of the situation and being the otherside of the world he does not realise or possibly care about the mess he has embroiled people around him, like Middlo, the Poole Promotion, who have only seemed to looked out for him. If Middlo leaves Poole or the GB managers job - who will replace him? We do not have anyone with that level of respect from riders, knowedge of the Sport or proven success (given the riders available to him)
