  1. Insults on both sides get people nowhere. Not taking sides but maybe if you were not quite confrontational this would help to calm things down. Nobody should have the mick taken if they have a problem. May I suggest let the riders do their work on the track and not people on their keyboards.
  2. I wish some people on here would grow up. Discussion and disagreement are fine. However I think some of the childish comments on here being in the school playground and not on a site where most people want intelligent discussion. I understand some people do not like Poole and that’s fine. This is the same in any sport.
  3. Say again. You are not transparent. By the wayI come from Plymouth
  4. Sorry only mentioned the tracks I went to but yes I did go to Canterbury.
  5. Just can not believe the way some people go on. Would they be so brave and say the same things if they were in the same room. Every person who support any team in any sport will crow when they win. Natural I would think. Poole who have a very loyal supporter base have been going since 1948. They have had their hard times as well as successful times. They are now one of a handful of teams in the South. Thankfully Plymouth are going from strength to strength thanks to hard work and providing an attractive product. Think of the all the flack they have taken about the size of the track. Oxford are back thank goodness and I hope they are successful. I am sure they will. Gone are Trelawny, Exeter, Weymouth, Somerset, Newport, Swindon, Reading, Eastbourne plus all the London cubs Hackney, Wimbledon, Rye House, and Lakeside. Speedway is the most important thing to survive in the South. Therefore rejoice that Poole are still there
  6. Will Gary May carry on as team manager in 2022? if so can we PLEASE can stop him & other team managers switching the reserve riders rides, which is only to the detriment of your weakest reserve! Sorry can’t agree with this view. This is what a team manager should be doing working his team to get the best result.
  7. Very pleased to see Plymouth have a team that can challenge for the play offs. There are only two teams in the south of England Plymouth and Poole. Why some people seem to dislike Plymouth I do not understand. My name on this forum has always been Sherbornegreen. That is based on where I live and the football team I have always supported. (Plymouth Argyle). My first knowledge of speedway was at Pennycross in 1962. All my family started to go to Weymouth in the early 1980s and season ticket holder at Poole from 1983 till 2001. Still a Poole supporter going when I can but also very fond of Plymouth and go when I can. Poole will always have a very strong team and Plymouth have a team that is improving year on year. Support in Plymouth is increasing, thank goodness. We do not want to lose this great sport in the south so good luck to both teams. Don’t forget we’re have already lost Trelawney, Exeter, Weymouth and Somerset from this area. Also nearby Newport and Swindon. Let’s keep what we have got at least.
  8. I think they could fit in two ex Plymouth riders if Bowtell gets a 2.5 reduction. That could be a team of R Lawson K Newman M Palm-Toft B Barker E Kennett A Bowtell H Atkins not saying this could be the team but think it fits to below 42 points
  9. Just remind me who gets 2.5 reduction for being British
  10. What I was referring to was when we were on tour in the late 80s early 90s people like Boyce, Crumpie, and the rest stayed in the same hotels and we were one. Lingos and Ali Stevens knew y son by name. Different times but great to have had them.
  11. Although I actually agree with you the problem as I see it is how can a rider earn a decent living with so few meetings only riding for one team. In the past it was great when a rider was only yours and they knew you and you knew them. Riders were part time and still had other jobs. Sorry but I think those days are past, unfortunately.
  12. The thing is Plymouth effectively have 3 league meetings left. One home to Newcastle( which they should win), then away to Leicester and Poole. They have done exceptionally well at home this season giving full entertainment to the crowds who, I believe, have come out in reasonable numbers to support them. Remember they were so late being accepted into this league they had very few riders to pick from so therefore brought several new riders who had never ridden British speedway before. In addition they brought in Bjarne and Jason who were great crowd attractions but on very high averages that would be almost impossible to keep up. Jason’s injury did not help and only now have their averages dropped to a reasonable level. I still think the Plymouth promotion did the right thing. Also poor Henry Atkins was lost before a wheel was turned. Therefore, with nothing to fight for I feel the promotion will stay true to the riders that the supporters have got to love and build for next year knowing they will have no Bjarne and probably Jason but will have true averages to build on. The promotion at Plymouth have done well and are establish a firm base for the future.
  13. Can someone advise who if any produce DVDs of Redcars home meetings. Thank you in advance for any information.
  14. All this arguing now will not change the outcome. As in football what the ref gives is law on the day. I was not there so can not give an opinion but I have ordered the dvd so may then have a true thought about the matter. With regard to the r/r I see where people are coming from but the rider was in the country and red tape is holding things up. Poole were given a seven day facility but if it is not cleared by their next meeting the facility is withdrawn. Mr May would have objected strongly if there was anything underhand going on. Can’t wait to get down to Poole and watch some racing in such a competitive league and also to Plymouth (my home city) to see the Gladiators. Must admit hard to think of them not being the Devils.
  15. Watching your team away is great but rain is a b—-er. As a family we have travelled to watch Poole at Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Edinburgh only to be rained off. However most away matches have been fine. Never the less it never stopped us travelling. Don’t do it now as age creeps up but would not have missed it.
