  1. Interesting on this Poole thread you have the following scores so far. Poole loving Schovlar 6 posts. Matt Ford hating Gavan 14 posts.
  2. Very pleased that Poole won tonight. However, I must say Swindon have ridden well all season and deserved their success. I think that would be a great final. Rosco, don't feel too down you have created a great team over the past couple of years. Looking forward to a good final and hope the weather does not spoil it. Well done Poole.
  3. That is what prompted my post Former Devil. I follow 3 teams. Somerset, Poole and my first team Plymouth. I mean the first team I watched in 1962. At that time all Brits in the team. A total of of three Brits all at Somerset. Two at reserve and one second string. Think that tells a big story.
  4. With Cory Gathercole out for the rest of the season Plymouth will have to sign a replacement. Sign a Brit you say but who? At this time of the season there is virtually nobody around to take his place so you have to go to Europe or further afield. At this time of the season there is nobody from the lower league to replace to someone with a 6 plus PL average. Virtually all EL teams have 3 double uppers so nobody there. Answers on a postcard.
  5. I hear what you say about the number of Brits in each UK team but who else is there to get places in the teams. Where are these riders. Look at GPs apart from Wolffy who else is world class. These are the points I was making in my original post.
  6. I am putting this in the EL section but it applies to all speedway in this country (Note: So is therefore moved to where it should be). No solutions here but just questions and personal thoughts. There are few Brits in the EL and not so many in the PL. The NL has several but how many carry onto progress? There are a few that have done very well but these are few. Many reasons spring to mind but three I think are strong are lack of practise and training facilities, lack of finance for equipment and travel plus the third which I think could be a big factor the very large choice of other sports they can choose from in this country that cost less and are far cheaper to take part in, also if they are good bring far bigger financial rewards. I mean the obvious soccer which is everywhere but also rugby and cricket for two examples that do not exist in Poland, Sweden and Denmark. These three countries bring on constant streams of new young riders but look at their training facilities and the fact that they start very young. Soccer can always take some away but they do not have as many choices as here. Australia is very different. They produce riders all the time and have a great choice of sports. However, they do have much more space than any of us for young lads to get out on motor cycles. As I said I have no solutions but would be interested in others views.
  7. The track was perfect for racing. Check it out at www.youtube.com/plymouthdevils
  8. Excellent meeting. Sorry to see Paul Stark stay down. He is a good NL rider and I used to see him riding for Plymouth. I don't think he will get too far acting like that. However, back to the good things. A very fast good track that allowed passes to be made by the brave. A lot different tra ck to the one I visited at Barrington Lock. Please Sky let us have more PL racing as I feel this is far more exciting to watch. The EL has the stars but not always the best entertainment.
  9. Rules in speedway are so complicated you need a 1st class honours agree to begin to understand them. I know you can not go back but who thinks it was far better for us fans when riders rode for one team only. Those days will never return with riders needing to earn a great deal more with the price of equipment, etc however we can dream. Good luck to the Rebels tonight.
  10. You assume far too much. You assume I am a Poole fan when actually I am a speedway fan and usually go to Somerset,Plymouth and sometimes to Poole or Swindon. I agree about the 75 - 0 but stand by my original thoughts stand. I am sorry to say your attitude leaves a great deal to be desired and slagging off people does not help.
  11. sorry, but not answered. On the day BV would have not had three heat leaders because 1 injured bu for whom rRNA applies but two missed flights so only PL replacements allowed. This is the same as Magic missing the flights when Poole were at Eastborne. Explain your argument on these facts not as anyone would like. It would have been exactly the same as if Swindon were due to ride at BV on that day. Await your reply.
  12. I would always want to see matches raced. However, it looks as if BV would have had to race without their heat leaders, as per the rules. Althought things could happen I do believe the result would have gone Pooles way and they would have gained 4 points. If the match is rerun should BV be allowed to gain by racing with all their heat leaders? View and reasons please.
  13. 3 months and 2 years. Yes similar but a little different. No axe to grind and I hope Hans and Troy ride where they are happy.
  14. Ward has signed for Swindon. Darren Ward for Swindon FC
  15. Lets say thanks to Mr Bowden for getting speedway back to Plymouth. However, lets move on and wish the new owners all the best for 2013. Also lets hope the Plymouth fans will return in numbers and the Devils have a great team for the coming season.
  16. I do not know what is going on at SBA and I have not been able to get down to Plymouth this season. It is terrible to read on this forum and the Plymouths site the discord there is. When I heard the Devils were reopening those years ago I was over the moon. I never thought I would see the Devils back. There were so many obstacles and the track was on a rugby pitch that I played on in my younger days. The Plymouth and SW people took to the team and the crowds were good. You only have to see how many fans they take or took to away matches to know how much the team are loved. You have to thank Mr Bowden for brining the Devils back but. Garry Spiller losing his job in the manner he did was the real first thing that really made me look and think what the hell is going on. SBA may not be the best of stadiums but the racing has improved and improved and I think there has been more overtaking their in meetings I have seen than at many other tracks I have visited. The Plymouth supporters deserve speedway. They will come in numbers. They appear to be staying away for one reason only. Please do not let the Devils die. I truly believe if the correct promoter could be found to take over then the crowds will respond and they will make money. PLEASE DO NOT LET THE DEVILS DIE.
  17. How do you make that out? The man with the most points won.
  18. Just got back excellent meeting and the final was well won by Workington. Kramer missed the gate with Doyle out first. Doyle tried to slow it down when he saw what was happening but the Workington pair outsmarted him. Well done to the Comets. There was a great deal of booing of the Somerset riders but from the 1st/2nd bend I could not tell who was doing it. If it was Workington fans, shame on them. There was no bad riding anytime during the meeting so why try and inject bad feeling?
  19. Well done Bomber it was great. Wish there were enough of us to have sung 'A Hundred Thousand Cornishmen Will Tell You The Reason Why' I must admit thinking back to him riding around the clay pit in the days of the Gulls. Hope he will find some time to visit the Devils at SBA. First Cornish GP victory.
