  1. A very harsh statement. The Plymouth team was announced in good time with all riders fit. In the very last race in Argentina their No 1 gets a serious injury. By this time no no 1 s were free who were able or willing to race on a Saturday. It looks as if the original no1 is hoping to be fit enough to ride by mid May. Perhaps you would like to see them out of speedway all together. Yes it is a long way to Plymouth for visiting fans but te sae can be said for Plymouth supporters of any sports team. If you look at the Plymouth Argyle away support this averages well over 1000.
  2. OK. You did not really know what the post was about. I was a Poole season ticket holder for more years than I care to remember. I have known Steve for many, many years and knew where his football routes are and was really joking with him. Also I live in Dorset and have been a season ticket at Argyle for over 27 years. I am very interested in Plymouth Speedway having watched them off and on since 1962. Hope you see I was not on any high horse.
  3. Plymouth Gladiators. I thought I would remind people this is their speedway thread. ps Steve Shovlar you talk about AFC Bournemouth but I thought Swindon FC are your team.
  4. As a Poole fan I am used to people slagging off the club. i watched the BSN broadcast on Tuesday. It was obvious which clubs riders did not want to ride. Do some clubs want Plymouth out of the league because of the distance to travel especially in the summer with the holiday traffic? Just asking. With regard to not naming a rider for tonight remember Dan Thompson was only injured last night. Two Plymouth riders avre in the U21 Speedway of Nations, which I am watching. In addition there are six teams racing tonight. Poole have two guests at reserve, Scunthorpe have a reserve guest for Kemp, Where do you think Plymouth will get a guest from?
  5. Are the threads getting mixed up? Thought this was for discussing Plymouth
  6. Scream I think you are being a little silly. Barker has been a good rider for Plymouth i personally think he was silly with what he took but who is to say what I would do if in pain. I do not think it is even benefit of the doubt.
  7. What is this snipping certain Poole fans have with Plymouth. Yes there is also some coming the other way. These are the only two teams in the South/ south west of England, both of which are important to the sport. I admit I feel for both clubs having started at Plymouth in 1962 and Poole since 1985. Personally I hope both have very competitive teams and both are successful.
  8. Reading through the thread two people seem to disagree on virtually everything. How about at the start of next season there is a series of of scratch races between Skidder and Lewy at both St Boniface Arena and Wimborne Road. If equal a decider at Oxford. Think this would be worth watching.Only having a laugh oh course.
  9. For goodness sake. This is the Poole v Redcar post. Plymouth not involved. Whatever happened with Lawson is in the past. Kennett situation discussed over months. Put it to bed. Poole 3rd in the league position Plymouth 4th. Well done both.teams. Now come on Poole just win the playoff final and Plymouth must have a lot better luck with injuries next season.
  10. Steve what are you saying. Has Exmouth got an umbrella above it? Just arrived in Plymouth. It has been rainy all the way from Sherborne and hammering down on A38. Easing off slightly in Plymouth but still raining. Track will be absolutely drenched. j
  11. Steve please do not be so rude to the people who are born and breed in Plymouth. I am such a person and over the years have traveled the country with Poole and you. We have cheered and commiserated several times in the 90s and OOs. We have also had banter re Argyle and Swindon Town. I am sure on reflection you wrote what you wrote in the spur of the moment.
  12. I do not understand the comments about calling the match off. The rain yesterday flooded the streets of Plymouth as shown in the local paper. Plymouth have called off matches early before but have proven to be correct each time. With regard to the Glasgow match being called off, this was totally unexpected. I watch the BSN broadcast and everything was go and all of a sudden off. Track was walked, ref had a say, riders were interviewed and changed, bikes warmed up and coin toss done. The ref suddenly does a u turn and within a couple of minutes it’s off. Very funny. The Kennett situation is another thing. I do not believe Plymouth wanted to go the season like this. Riders approached but some would not come, I heard some would but stopped from coming. I do not know the full story.
  13. With regard to the water table you must remember the stadium is next to the River Plym and the name of the area could give a clue. Marsh Mills.
  14. Sorry Lewy I can not agree with you that it was a meatless meeting. Middlo has been a great servant of Poole and speedway. He was one of the people responsible for bringing Hans over and giving him his start in the UK which has lasted over 20 years. I do not believe the bad fortune of the Gladiators this season. Such a great team built but ruined by injury. Eddie was injured in that first meeting but with the state of speedway at the present time could not be replaced by another rider of similar average. I agree that it is doubtful Eddie would of maintained the average he started with but how can you team build with the present riders after the season started. If Lawson had stayed in place of Eddie Plymouth would be very strong. However, no contract was signed so he was entitled to change his mind. Plymouth must build on their success this season with great fans and management but remember Poole and Middlo have given speedway great riders and in my view added a great deal to speedway.
  15. Some people can not help themselves. I think Plymouth have called off about 3 meetings the day before to save expense for riders, themselves and fans money and time. Guess what, they have been proved correct every single time. I personally remember at least three times this approach would have saved me time and money. One to Edinburgh another to Middlesbrough and one to Ipswich following the Pirates. With regard to the other moans re Plymouth how do people think they can replace injured riders or one being suspended. Not one single rider is in the team from the original team for several meetings. No 1 Edward Kennett. Signed long before start of season and crashed in first meeting causing big damage to existing injury. They have tried to sign a replacement but have been blocked each time No 2 Alfie Bowtell _ injured at Birmingham and could be out for the season. No 3 Ben Barker - now suspended awaiting hearing. No 4 Michael Palm-Toft - Tried coming back after that very bad crash at Poole . Will he be back this season No 5 Hans Anderson - Crashed at Sheffield and was out for a few weeks No 6 - Dan Gilles - crashed heavy at Scunthorpe on 29th April still out and could be for the rest of season No 7 Henry Atkins - walked out on cub for some reason. Try replacing these riders with the lack of riders in this country and restrictions for riders riding in other countries. Has anyone else heard of such bad luck. Yet the fans have still backed the team, crowds do not seemed to have dropped and are very good. This sows their commitment to the team, manager and promoters.
  16. Bowtell now withdrawn. What have Plymouth done to deserve this luck
  17. If Poole were cheating then in the rerun of heat 12 Cook could have gone into the tapes, Ablitt comes in , gets 3rd and Cook comes into heat 14☺️☺️
  18. I thought they sorted I but no. Money back I think
  19. I thought the transmission started at 7 o clock. No pictures yet just the clock saying starting in 00 00 00 00
  20. I believe the above totally unfair. Before you think this is the views of a fan of any particular team May I point out I am in Dorset and had a season ticket at Poole for 16 years. Plymouth signed Kennett some time ago, I think he was one of their first signings. Yes he thought he had to pull out but later agreed to sign. He fell in his first ride and the injury is bad as it opened a earlier injury. I agree that this could be the end of his career but Plymouth have been looking high and low for a replacement but the rules abroad and BSPA have stumped them. Then Gilles had a very serious injury and Atkins for some reason quit the club. How are clubs going to find riders when there are none there.
