There is absolutely no obligation whatsoever for a rider to accept a guest booking, some riders who are young in their careers have day jobs too so getting time off for a guest booking can be a challenge. Please don't assume that a rider is available for a guest booking just because that rider is not riding anywhere that day and heaven forbid that Keith is blooding one of his younger assets by giving him track time at this level.

"Do us a favour Keith, can you send a couple of photos of a busted gate and a bit of fence? They must have bent a post so one of that as well then we can can kill all this crap on the internet. It's better than you feigning a heart attack or pulling the distribution board stunt they've been done to death as have the sun off and burst water bowser. Oh by the way when you pulled the distribution board stunt did you know that CEF keep the parts in stock? (Just in case you need to go again with something) - I'd suggest an archeological find next time, nobody's done that yet!"

				Thurrock Hammers ??
Byker Biker replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The current situation is even worse at that site, it is a haven for anti social behaviour strewn with empty gas canisters and other abhorrent paraphernalia of the night. The hotel is tired beyond belief and the football ground soon to be derelict yet it's far enough away from the Nimbys to disregard these elements. The site is perfect for redevelopment and is only the width of the M25 away from retail, industrial and major storage facilities so in terms of air pollution this sites contribution will be a pimple on the ar$e of the problem particularly as the Dartford Crossing is less than a mile away. -

All of the news coming from this venture is fabulous for the sport, the custodians of the sport need to recognise this and propel Workington as an example and maintain a position that encourages investment in the sport. To mire this club with the usual political self serving bollox will deter anyone from investing in this sport forever. BSPL this is your opportunity to nurture and promote investment in the sport, burn it and you have fukt Speedway forever

With the loss of Long Eaton.........
Byker Biker replied to Ray Stadia's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Tony Mole explored this beyoned all reasonable expectations and whilst the previous owners were receptive in principle the local authority were not prepared to consider a proposal and the grief from local residents once a whisper got out was horrendous. It was negative all the way. -

I wouldn't worry too much about the SRBF "rules" they are a very compassionate body and do not operate in any way like an insurance company. Their support stretches way beyond injured riders which is highly commendable but not public due to the nature of the circumstances of the beneficiary. Nora affiliated Speedway clubs could make donations to the SRBF or take an initiative that I would like to see across every Speedway track and that is a 25p optional levy on every admission and bespoke SRBF collection boxes inside every stadium. The governing bodies need to do a lot more than the one off (very welcome) track collections every season and facilitating additional donations would be a positive step in the right direction.

The article in today's SS certainly highlights the sheer incompetence of both parties, it's no wonder everyone who may be involved is distancing themselves from the project. IMHO neither of them are capable of conducting a serious business proposition and smack of the village fete committee (yes i know well suited in the BSPL). It's an interesting read but what a monumental kcuf up!

				Cab Direct Championship
Byker Biker replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I haven't read the 2 previous pages but I'd be cautious about slagging the Facennas here, they're not that foolish to think they would hide behind a dormant company and kid the sport on. This is about selling it to the wider media and public at large which in fairness is what the BSPL should be doing. It could have been better worded for me such as .... "CabDirect part of the Allied Vehicle Group"... "who also sponsor Team GB and Glasgow Tigers". The issue isn't the Facennas or their businesses it's yet again about transparency from the BSPL, there's no conflict of interest yet but the potential is huge. -

This is a very fair point, when you've got fingers like cows t*ts or a bit of arthritis it's only a matter of time before hundreds of pounds worth of technology goes bouncing down the concrete terracing! A pop up phone shop by the main stand that can replace screens during the tractor grading should solve it though - at Lynn there's enough time to change a screen and charge the battery while the tractor is out.

Should the OAP discount be scrapped?
Byker Biker replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This highlights some of HT's comments Steve, as we get older some get more cantankerous and principled which is why the BSPwhatsit should retain it where possible. If it goes many may cut their noses off to spite their face and stay at home. In my own case, on a pension, I had planned my expenditure against my income to leave me a couple of hundred quid a month for leisure. That has been consumed by the increase in the cost of energy (from £62 a month to £160), fuel for my car from £52 a tankfull to £85 twice a month and my grocery shopping which is pretty stable in content is up roughly by 20%. Now as HT points out everyone is affected by these rises and it doesn't matter how long pensioners strike for, nobody will enter into negotiations with us, it's a worry so spending £20 plus fuel and whatever else now needs thinking about. I couldn't go to my nearest track on my own for less than £45 and that's without a programme or a cup of tea. Sheffield have been criticised for raising their admission prices but in reality they have little choice, by the time you take vat out of the admission income and then realise the relatively high concession mix it just doesn't add up and without "Everything R Us" as significant sponsors there really would be a short term risk at Owlerton. -
Does anybody really give a ...... Newcastle fans/threads should be welcome anywhere anytime if it helps maintain interest.

Should the OAP discount be scrapped?
Byker Biker replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Until someone has to live off a pension and see how thinly that income has to be spread I don't feel they are qualified to add value to this topic. Deciding what stays and goes on a monthly basis isn't a comfortable feeling. In my opinion Speedway would be better off trying to keep the customers it has already got rather than risk alienating more. The sport hasn't been very good in the past at this, self interest and the blind desire to win has distorted every possible view of what was a sport. The limited company that has no financial or marketing leadership and is running the "show" needs to become a proper company instead of an agency for the village fete committee then we might see some accountability and unilateral direction. The decision to become a limited company in my opinion was purely a risk averse move. In simple terms; invest in a growing market, consolidate in a static market and defend in a receding market. It all costs money but in these times it may be wiser to try and lose less by defending what they already have. -

				Jubilee championship league
Byker Biker replied to westlakejawa's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I am utterly dismayed that they honestly believe they can bring some credibilty to this competition by staging it with guests next year. Bury the problem now and don't drag the self humiliation into 2023. The fact that the decision makers are never accountable for their hapless decisions makes it easy for them to blame the weather, stadium owners, rider availability, (delete as appropriate). As a board of directors they don't even measure up to the village fete committee, I assume they all sit on the board the monkey effed the cat on not a limited company! -
He has but what was the European Grand Prix, pre Covid, could have been staged anywhere in "Europe" so British GP at Cardiff and EGP at say Odsal, a Glasgow Football stadium or the Olympic Park. An impressive number of alternative stadia were considered and the Directors of those stadia entertained at the British GP in Cardiff for genuine and real evaluation, a part of the criteria was for a minimum seating capacity of just under 10,000 to make it work. When the National Speedway Stadium was being built it had the capacity to acommodate that as a minimum with temporary stands.
