  1. Or investigating journalists who work for the Daily Liar and Liar Online.......
  2. I wouldn't worry too much about the SRBF "rules" they are a very compassionate body and do not operate in any way like an insurance company. Their support stretches way beyond injured riders which is highly commendable but not public due to the nature of the circumstances of the beneficiary. Nora affiliated Speedway clubs could make donations to the SRBF or take an initiative that I would like to see across every Speedway track and that is a 25p optional levy on every admission and bespoke SRBF collection boxes inside every stadium. The governing bodies need to do a lot more than the one off (very welcome) track collections every season and facilitating additional donations would be a positive step in the right direction.
  3. The article in today's SS certainly highlights the sheer incompetence of both parties, it's no wonder everyone who may be involved is distancing themselves from the project. IMHO neither of them are capable of conducting a serious business proposition and smack of the village fete committee (yes i know well suited in the BSPL). It's an interesting read but what a monumental kcuf up!
  4. I haven't read the 2 previous pages but I'd be cautious about slagging the Facennas here, they're not that foolish to think they would hide behind a dormant company and kid the sport on. This is about selling it to the wider media and public at large which in fairness is what the BSPL should be doing. It could have been better worded for me such as .... "CabDirect part of the Allied Vehicle Group"... "who also sponsor Team GB and Glasgow Tigers". The issue isn't the Facennas or their businesses it's yet again about transparency from the BSPL, there's no conflict of interest yet but the potential is huge.
  5. No but he's swapped the Range Rover for a Berlingo with a tail lift!
  6. Gina Banks put paid to that, she petitioned the world, harassed the planners, sent letters and leaflets to residents for miles.
  7. Them butt plugs are no good they leak like fury, for what use they are you might as well stick them up your 4rse !
  8. This is a very fair point, when you've got fingers like cows t*ts or a bit of arthritis it's only a matter of time before hundreds of pounds worth of technology goes bouncing down the concrete terracing! A pop up phone shop by the main stand that can replace screens during the tractor grading should solve it though - at Lynn there's enough time to change a screen and charge the battery while the tractor is out.
  9. This highlights some of HT's comments Steve, as we get older some get more cantankerous and principled which is why the BSPwhatsit should retain it where possible. If it goes many may cut their noses off to spite their face and stay at home. In my own case, on a pension, I had planned my expenditure against my income to leave me a couple of hundred quid a month for leisure. That has been consumed by the increase in the cost of energy (from £62 a month to £160), fuel for my car from £52 a tankfull to £85 twice a month and my grocery shopping which is pretty stable in content is up roughly by 20%. Now as HT points out everyone is affected by these rises and it doesn't matter how long pensioners strike for, nobody will enter into negotiations with us, it's a worry so spending £20 plus fuel and whatever else now needs thinking about. I couldn't go to my nearest track on my own for less than £45 and that's without a programme or a cup of tea. Sheffield have been criticised for raising their admission prices but in reality they have little choice, by the time you take vat out of the admission income and then realise the relatively high concession mix it just doesn't add up and without "Everything R Us" as significant sponsors there really would be a short term risk at Owlerton.
  10. Does anybody really give a ...... Newcastle fans/threads should be welcome anywhere anytime if it helps maintain interest.
  11. Until someone has to live off a pension and see how thinly that income has to be spread I don't feel they are qualified to add value to this topic. Deciding what stays and goes on a monthly basis isn't a comfortable feeling. In my opinion Speedway would be better off trying to keep the customers it has already got rather than risk alienating more. The sport hasn't been very good in the past at this, self interest and the blind desire to win has distorted every possible view of what was a sport. The limited company that has no financial or marketing leadership and is running the "show" needs to become a proper company instead of an agency for the village fete committee then we might see some accountability and unilateral direction. The decision to become a limited company in my opinion was purely a risk averse move. In simple terms; invest in a growing market, consolidate in a static market and defend in a receding market. It all costs money but in these times it may be wiser to try and lose less by defending what they already have.
  12. That fat stabard is never 70, he's ugly enough but until he starts having a lie down every day please give him the benefit of the doubt.
  13. I am utterly dismayed that they honestly believe they can bring some credibilty to this competition by staging it with guests next year. Bury the problem now and don't drag the self humiliation into 2023. The fact that the decision makers are never accountable for their hapless decisions makes it easy for them to blame the weather, stadium owners, rider availability, (delete as appropriate). As a board of directors they don't even measure up to the village fete committee, I assume they all sit on the board the monkey effed the cat on not a limited company!
  14. He has but what was the European Grand Prix, pre Covid, could have been staged anywhere in "Europe" so British GP at Cardiff and EGP at say Odsal, a Glasgow Football stadium or the Olympic Park. An impressive number of alternative stadia were considered and the Directors of those stadia entertained at the British GP in Cardiff for genuine and real evaluation, a part of the criteria was for a minimum seating capacity of just under 10,000 to make it work. When the National Speedway Stadium was being built it had the capacity to acommodate that as a minimum with temporary stands.
  15. Not quite that simple, the medical team need to have "life saving" intervention skills and the facility to undertake them in the event that an apparent minor injury turns out to be more complex than anticipated. A collapsed lung or a cardiac arrest are not uncommon with roadside injuries.
  16. ..and be fined for fielding an under strength team..?
  17. Amazing!!! You've spent years baiting folk on this forum and had plenty of bites, now who's biting? Were you ever kicked off the forum for it?
  18. Why not "Marras" nobody's gonna nick that and use it elsewhere?
  19. Nicely, this company has always been hugely successful with their innovation, investment, marketing initiatives and willingness to take reasonable risk. They are arguably the market leader in mobility solutions respected by the motor industry, operate nationwide and have heaped commercial recognition and success on Scotland and Glasgow in particular. They treat their employees well in a firm but fair way and are keen to share their success with their immediate community. Glasgow Speedway is a pimple on the arse of their empire but brings them great personal satisfaction, please don't think that Glasgow Speedway has enhanced the extent of their operation unless you are HMRC and don't forget the equity is in the freehold land that is the footprint of the stadium, there's always a way out if it's absolutely necessary. They are to be applauded and thoroughly deserve more recognition than the sport affords them.
  20. You're right and you're wrong in your perception I'm afraid, when a club ceases with debts or is annulled the riders registrations/loan agreements become the responsibility of the BSPL consequently there is a responsibility to find the riders a team if possible. As you can see clubs clamour to cherry pick a failed promotion's riders which makes it unpalatable to those with more integrity so riders get dumped to make way.
  21. I don't disagree but Ladbrokes expect him to race at the highest possible level with all the costs that brings, a 6 team league or shortened season may impact on gates overall and rent commitments with the landlord which realistically increases the viability risk. Wolves has always been a well run club but heavy losses are not an option consequently a shot across the bows before the AGM will alert the rest of the BSPL and may result in a greater share out of TV money to keep the top league in business.
  22. It's a lever for CVS to get a "greater" share of the TV money to stay in the 6 team league, he's covering all his bases and good luck to him.
  23. It's been a dreadful couple of weeks, really upsetting, but my respect for each will survive their passing and I wish their families well in such difficult times.
