The biggest cost is to the host broadcaster who are in for megabucks if it's off after they are in situ. They have to pay for satellite up link time if they don't give adequate notice.

Because too many people have been complaining about inadequate notice of a rain off. When the predicted risk of rain increases from 88% to 90% to 93% then 96% in 12 hours following 2 days of rain already it's almost a foregone conclusion. A post on another thread is asking why they have left it so late! I'm pleased you enjoy wet meetings at Edinburgh when they manage to keep it on

To be honest I wouldn't know but then neither does anyone else yet. If you look back over the various threads associated with King's Lynn and the vitriol towards Buster it is too often based on a poster's opinion, comment or thought and not facts, I'm weary of it and I know I don't have to read it but I genuinely feel that so many negative posts are as equally harmful to the sport as some of the decisions made within it. Buster had both clubs pre-sold and was on his exit route when for whatever reason it all went pear shaped, it takes two parties to make a deal and only one to break it - which party is really responsible will never truly be known. In the case of both of Buster's clubs so called; friends, acquaintances, people "in the know" and even the haters have given opinions but if the truth is out there it's clear no-one believes it. The sale and/or exchange of a business is usually preceded by a "Heads of Terms " agreement that usually includes a confidentiality agreement that restricts those involved as to what if anything they can reveal and unless a sunset clause is embodied it can last forever. Did the sale of these businesses get that far? Who knows? That is my point - nobody really knows except those directly involved and I don't see them posting on this forum.

I like you're comment, the original post gives the powers that be complete licence to ignore anything constructive on any of these pages. As a collective the BSF are no better than the BSPL consequently neither can respect each other's opinions - shame 'cos there are some good suggestions from time to time that are ripped to shreds by other posters before any logic is applied or consideration can be given. All in my humble opinion of course.

How on earth can a club remain open when it hasn't paid it's insurance, medical fees, riders, rent and so much more? Some for months.

The issue in the late 60's and early 70's was that full face helmets had not been ACU approved despite being tested and certified by the stricter American Snell Safety Foundation consequently wearing the proven safer full face helmet earned the rider a £1 fine every meeting it was worn at.

You're assuming of course that they are available ..... if your not paying MPT who is being paid for taking his rides? Have you any idea how long it takes to get a "work permit" for a European rider? ... thought not!

Many of the suggestions on this forum have been tried over the years by "modern thinking" new promotions but there just doesn't appear to be a sustainable level that will improve revenue streams. Sadly many of those promotions left the sport for financial reasons and gave it a bloody good go and others were driven out by the politics. Just look at some of the past efforts put in by; Steve and Vanessa at Oxford, Waggy and Brian Griffin at King's Lynn, Rick and Julie at Peterborough, Stuart Douglas at Lakeside, Peter Oakes at Skegness and it goes on. These people not only put fortunes into the sport but they invested in marketing, corporate entertainment facilities, getting out and about in the community and more. They all believed they could make a difference, we saw some brilliant stuff coming from Waggy and a team at KL to die for so with respect to every contributor on this thread I just don't believe local initiatives are the way forward. I do agree with Mike BV that the sport should be marketed centrally with a national budget but sadly I fear that opportunity is long gone with the mega bucks that were put into the Gerhard GRT engine project.

I think these are separate issues, incentivising someone to make a purchase by offering a discount (even if it is 100%) is common practice no doubt you will remember George English doing an offer through Groupon, it made him bleed and always said never again.
