  1. There have been some good business people with proven sales and marketing skills in Speedway in the last decade but unfortunately were driven out by the win at all costs brigade. They win at all costs mentalitists were never into the long term just who or how hard they could shaft the opposition using everything except 4 laps on a Speedway bike to achieve it.
  2. If Workington and Newcastle are to be believed then Scunthorpe have been refusing to re-arrange fixtures in the absence of Steve Worrall how co-operative is that?
  3. Go on Tony get this years set up on Survey Monkey and we'll give it a go, same questions so that any comparison is like for like
  4. A bit more raucus but yes you're on the right path
  5. Pay attention lad, keep up. "The Kinks are an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1964 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. They are regarded as one of the most important and influential rock bands of the 1960s."
  6. Phil, you know whatever emerges will be somebodys sanitised interpretation of reality, they still think they can protect themselves from the outside world. They're like elephants hiding behind a lamp post that think no-one can see them, it's corporate denial.
  7. You're right this will buy 2 seasons unless 5 or 6 clubs close then there will be a reasonable standard of riders available for those that are left.
  8. Might have something to do with a certain rider not scoring points when he rode for Workington last season so that he could comfortably guarantee his place in the Glasgow team this season.
  9. The minutes are sanitised before they are published, just remember it's a legally constituted association (not that it makes any difference to the current regime who are better Magicians than Ian Thomas was)
  10. I think this needs rephrasing, he earned a percentage of the Sky fee in line with the BSPA's finders fee payments policy, the fact that he took less overall than he was entitled to seems to go unrecorded. They chose to outsource their broadcast rights just like they've outsourced Team GB now, the fact that Terry was and Rob may be successful with it seems to go against Speedway's grain hence Terry is still begrudged what he justly earned. How can you say to someone "get us on TV and we'll pay you X per cent" and then "now you've got us on TV we don't want to pay you any more"?
  11. Whenever the Elite League clubs went back for more money or to extend the term for "advances" Sky and GoSpeed questioned the wisdom of not reinvesting in the sport. At contract renewal they suggested putting some of the money into grass roots schemes, Team GB and other long term initiatives. Terry told the BSPA "you do know you are going to run out of money" but the cry was "who are they to tell us how to spend our money". Admittedly some found it's way into those initiatives but nowhere near enough and the BSPA Office was partly funded from TV money.
  12. Correct and the 2 outstanding fixtures yet to be re-arranged should be the first 2 to be told, yes I mean Sheffield and Scunthorpe. As members of the Management Committee they should assist Workington by declaring their intention to support the difficult circumstances the Comets face and get their team's arses up to Derwent Park smartish!
  13. The BSPA make the decision and request the SCB to annull the SCB Racing Licence
  14. In this situation impartiality is almost impossible, we have the version of events posted above to consider how we react. This is a bold step by Jenga to retract and make good the possible damage inadvertently caused. Inadvertently because he clearly loves Speedway and the Comets in particular to the point where he is prepared to capitulate. Jenga should be applauded, well done. My real point is this, I believe both parties should be cut a fair bit of slack over this. A confrontation that has been bubbling since the start of the season that possibly could have been headed off at the pass along the way. This is what happens when frustration has to be expressed, it's emotional and at times impulsive. Did Jenga intend to offend? Of course not. Did Steve intend to cause a backlash and own goal? Of course not. The desired outcome ought to be both parties calming down and agreeing a way forward that includes a line of communication other than on a public forum. I have read the concerning comments from Broc Nicol's family in the States concerning his signing for Sheffield, they are pleading with fans to give him a chance after so many negative remarks from people who have never met the kid. All of those posters did not intend to hurt Broc's family back home they were just expressing their opinions and concern for their club's ability to succeed. This is just another example of unintended consequences from relatively negative posts, we are all human and most more sensitive than we let on. Peter Mole has publicly criticised those keyboard warriors and he won't be the last. The Workington promotion are under immense pressure from the performance of the business to the needless politic -ing within the BSPA. All three Promoters have made tremendous personal sacrifices to the detriment of their lifestyles and families to keep the club going and at times there has been no end to the personal criticism they have faced so inevitably their tolerance thresholds are low. They too should be applauded, again well done. Is it all worth it? Put yourselves in their shoes and find out
  15. What he needs is an International Turnaround Specialist to advise him !
  16. Look out Jimbo, they'll be divvying up the riders already !
  17. Sadly it seems this programme has stalled and is currently in limbo, I’m given to understand that Marcel has negotiated some sort of settlement but whilst the BSPA are in for 6 figures it is nowhere near the sum that many of the tuners are trumpeting. Yet another opportunity missed by whoever you wish to hold responsible, I’d like to think it could be revived and work.
  18. Allegedly? The reason given for not calling up Palmtoft was that Roynon and Boxall were travelling together !!!!!!!! Even though Boxall was a substandard guest Palmtoft could still have made it, if Boxall failed to turn up anywhere it certainly wasn't Cumbria it was wherever he and Roynon were supposed to meet so there was still time for communication to take place and MPT get there! Allegedly of course.
  19. I heard that MPT agreed to ride yesterday but 'Boro would prefer to bring Roynon, the whole thing smacks of immaturity and spite. Are 'Boro pursuing a scorched earth policy? Are Ged and Trevor just using Roynon to unnecessarily stir it up when Palmtoft is willing to travel today?
  20. Chris Louis had 6 of them ! The concept is brilliant but the implementation and the universal distrust of all things BSPA hasn't really given it a prayer regardless of the benefit. Gerhard has geared up to produce many, many more than have been ordered, clearly the slow take up is gonna leave some red faces at Rugby and Gerhard is gonna need to pay his bills. Hmmmmm
