  1. Similar Plymouth tactics. Stuff the opposition number 1. 49-41
  2. I think its fair to say that Poole are one of the tracks that has one of the very best (SCB) track curators in speedway, along with his track helpers! He has worked wonders with the track over recent seasons! Having spoken with him, I'm sure he knows he was caught out a little last time with the early rain and didn't water much before the start and didn't expect the track to dry out as quickly as it did. As usual once the meeting has run a few heats, riders are reluctant to have the track watered as they have to change set-ups etc. I really don't understand the Plymouth 'fans' complaining about dust in the second half of the meeting as that was when Plymouth riders managed a bit of catching up (well just a bit!) I also sit in the same grandstand section as Daz1900 overlooking the startline and also confirm that the starts are not touched by them once the meeting is underway. They simple reposition the tapes and re-instate the white lane boxes - as all club start line staff do. Of course Poole's Senior Start Marshall along with track staff also lead/conduct the crowd in "Sweet Caroline" before heat 15 each week in front of the grandstand, so they probably do a little bit of stamping down on the home straight before the final race. NB. Good to see a Poole thread attracting the usual trolls/stalkers.................!! (ps. For those not travelling up from sunny Devon, the meeting will be streamed by Pirates TV)
  3. Both sides currently due to be at full strength with Rowe back for Pirates and Richie Worrall for Gladioli. Weather set fair if a little chilly. Thoughts.....?
  4. I do realise this is a Premiership thread but as far as attendances being up I was referring to the Championship as well, where there aren't any of the so-called stars but clubs seem to be getting it more right than wrong.
  5. ....and yet attendances are reportedly up at several tracks!
  6. Can't put too much pressure on Rosco - he's already running a pub and driving an artic!!
  7. This is just my interpretation of things - having worked in the council and run a large indoor events venue locally. In the background to all this the council have published a provisional Local Plan which includes a map showing a number of possible sites for 'potential development'. This includes many potential sites across Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch including the whole stadium site plus some adjoining vacant land. Of course this provisional plan is subject to change (not least as a result of the May Local elections!!), and the final plan is currently scheduled to become 'active' towards the end of 2024. The plan does NOT mention Poole Stadium specifically even though other specific landmark sites are named. Aside from local opinion for or against local politics, there is the need/desire to build more housing and undoubtedly the site close to the town centre would be extremely valuable to both the Council ( who could sell it as they need the money) or to a Developer (who could build a huge number of properties on it) especially if it could be proven that the site is not viable for sport and leisure?! We are not at that stage yet but I'm sure all those that are directly involved are aware of the options and how likely or unlikely they are. I've not recently discussed the specifics with Matt or Danny Ford. In the meantime the Poole Promotion will I'm sure continue to try to negotiate a sensible rental with G.I. and we can only hope that G.I. concur so that speedway continues.
  8. I presume if Brummies were riding then both Nick and Justin would be riding for them.
  9. Although it says Rosco is choosing the team I think that is a bit of 'editorial licence' as I'm sure it's down to whoever Poole can attract ( as was the case with Peter Schroek at Oxford) as its Poole who will be paying for it.
  10. Not sure. A lease was granted in 1994 I think and possibly extended in 1997 when the 'new' glass stand/restaurant was built by Stadia uk primarily for the greyhounds!
  11. Not if it can be proved that the current leaseholders have reneged on the terms of the lease and the provision of a minimum of 2 sports/leisure activities! The site was originally given to 'the people of Poole' for that very purpose by the Lord Wimborne Estate, with the Council acting as 'custodians'!! (Although there have been many many examples of similar arrangements which various councils across the UK have simply ridden roughshod over!)
  12. It's the local council in Poole that own the whole stadium site!!
  13. Great to see CVS's "can do; glass half full" attitude rather than the levels of negativity usually found on here!!
  14. Yes, as mentioned on this thread several pages ago! 'Corporate Hire of the whole stadium 3 times per annum plus permission to run films ie drive-in cinema on a daily basis'!! Anyone who knows the stadium layout well would undoubtedly question the practicalities of getting vehicular access via the only 2 vehicle access points ie pits and tractor entrances/exits?!
  15. No need to buy Poole stadium. Just lobby the council to transfer the lease away from GI who are currently not meeting the terms of the lease agreement. The Poole promotion have enough support and experience with their sponsors etc to run the stadium and introduce other activities to it.
  16. You clearly aren't aware of Chris Holder's injury at the weekend - 10-12 weeks out!!!! Soz Gasser - beat me to it!
  17. I'm sure any negotiations will be done by CVS. Any 'pressure' from any BSPL Action Group will surely be directed at the politicians (local and national) and organisations such as Sport England - with whom speedway now has some recognition - not withstanding the 15000+ fans who have signed the online petition so far.
  18. It'll have to be a b****y big boat then!
  19. From what most Panthers fans on here have said, they would be happy if Worrall missed every meeting!!!
