  1. He withdrew from Worralls testimonial today as he'd tweaked the nerve in his neck again.
  2. I've heard rumours of Poole staying exactly where they are and welcoming more tracks on Wednesdays.!
  3. Notwithstanding Wolves possibly going too.........!!
  4. Imo Lynn will be there if the one league is of Championship--ish standard.
  5. It's a variation of the premises licence for a maximum of 3 weekend 'events' per annum plus drive-in movies in school holidays. The stadium leaseholders - GI - are NOT looking to run these things themselves, merely hire out the stadium to potential event organisers for a rental fee - similar to and in addition to speedway.
  6. 2024 no Wolves? No Panthers? No Monarchs? No Brummies? One league?
  7. Sport Business Photos Steve Worrall lays out plans for testimonial at Poole Pirates STEVE Worrall is determined to “put on a show” to the paying fans who come to watch his testimonial meeting this week. Poole captain Worrall will hold the event at Wimborne Road on Wednesday night, with a team representing Pirates taking on a Belle Vue Aces select side. It pits the Premiership champions of 2022 up against the Championship champions, with the meeting originally scheduled for late March, before wet weather intervened. There are just three changes from the line-up of the original date, with 2021 world champion Artem Laguta now leading the Pirates charge, with the likes of Danny King, Rory Schlein, Chris Harris and Matej Zagar also involved. Worrall to help Poole homeless charity at testimonial meeting Looking ahead to the meeting, Worrall told the Daily Echo: “Second time lucky, hopefully! It’s probably a blessing in disguise, in a way Speedway is much better when the sun’s out and everyone can enjoy it a bit more. “There was a lot of messing around to try and get the date and I’m thankful for Poole and for the BSPL for everyone cooperating and helping me to squeeze this date in, because there weren’t many options. “I put myself in a rider’s position – we’re all busy enough as it is, you don’t want to be doing testimonials and stuff at this time of year. “I’m thankful I’ve been able to get 90 per cent of the original line-up back, with the addition of a couple of new ones, which probably makes it a little bit more exciting than it was.” Discussing the addition of Laguta, who has recently signed for Premiership outfit King’s Lynn Stars, Worrall said: “The way I’m looking at it is, although it’s my testimonial and we’re celebrating 10 years of service for me, I wanted to put a meeting on that people would talk about and that generates a lot of interest. It’s not so much about the money, it’s about putting on a show. “I’ve been around speedway long enough. I’ve been to other people’s testimonials and you know the good ones from the bad ones. “When I thought about mine and tried to plan it, I always wanted mine to be one that people talk about and people want to go to. It’s not just a formality that ‘oh, we’ll have to go and watch him because he rides for us’, I wanted it to be something big, so I always went for that basis. “And getting Artem in, the likes of people from Plymouth, Oxford, Swindon, they’ve got to travel a fair way to go and watch him (in the Premiership). The idea behind it is people will travel here and come and watch and create a really good atmosphere.” Worrall also laid out plans outside of the 15 heats of action. He said: “Before it goes ahead, in the lull before it kicks off, I’ve got a live band who are going to come and play some music and entertain the fans, so that will be pretty cool. “I’ll try and do a bit of an exciting parade, rather than just the guys walk out and wave. “Then you’ll have your 15 heats. I’ve been really fair with my teams, I think if you work out the averages, they’re pretty much bang on the same. But when push comes to shove, we want Poole to win. “And then afterwards we’ll try and have a bit of a fun race. I’ve got a super final basically, which will be quite entertaining to watch.” conta Modal headline Close Automatically injected HTML goes here SubmitCancel Before you leave, look at these selected top stories
  8. Will the Aces meeting be put further back as the City parade has been delayed a further half hour due to torrential rain? Or will it be off altogether?
  9. The next one off will be Belle Vue judging by the torrential downpour for the Man City parade!!!
  10. People only need to read club website updates and/or social platforms - if they have time!
  11. Rogers hasn't been 'let go'!! He is now 'General Manager and Director of Speedway' at Perry Barr.
  12. Rogers steps down due to health. Stewart Dickson in as team manager. Rogers stays with club.
  13. Maybe like Mark Phillips he should give Matt Ford a call to ask him to help with any of the riders on Poole's asset list??! or any of Matt's many other speedway contacts. They all need a little help from their friends - occasionally!
  14. Spot on, not only does he understand the club's and fans situation but tells it as it is in public. He and his co-directors need all the support they can muster. As for Kyle's viewpoint I guess any club with a strong top 3 that gets knocked out of the 2 early season competitions will only have League meetings and possible play-offs left. Its not as if he didn't know of the possible number of fixtures when he signed up - its almost identical to last season.
  15. Are attendances still well up after the initial meeting?
  16. Matt still owns the Poole club. He does the pre-season deals from his extensive contacts book - always putting together with Danny at least 3 potential line-ups depending on points limit and cost! - and as he stated in interview on Wednesday, he speaks to Danny every day. (Matt also confirmed he managed to get Artem to Steve Worrall's Testimonial next Wednesday, as Artem's manager 'owed him a favour') Danny leads with most of the club sponsorships/advertising and all the day-to-day, week-to-week stuff, including being on the BSPL Board of Directors with Messrs, Godfrey, Bates and Louis!. Danny is too involved in all the matchday stuff to also take on the Team Manager role when Middlo is away so as Matt explained, he flew in from France to Bournemouth at 4.30pm on Wednesday and was due to catch a flight from Stansted back to France at 6.30am on Thursday!! Now that is a 'flying visit'! Also as Matt explained the Chateau is a lot more hard work than first imagined and although very successful with big American Tour Operators committed, Matt may look for something a 'little easier' in 2 years time or so!!!
  17. I'm sure I saw an announcement on social media last night confirming Tarasenko and Tungate's signings - but it's disappeared now and still nothing on 'official' websites etc?
  18. Have Edinburgh still got a track after this year? Serious question as it might have some impact on what Glasgow do next season - depending on the format and number of teams of course!
  19. Not wishing to rub it in Mike0310 but it was 9, 5-1s!! Respect to all those Plymouth fans who made the trip. Good to hear the big cheer for the Gladiators 1-5 in heat 10 from the Bar Bandits.
