  1. But its riders and associations/federations that are choosing the bikes that prefer those tracks. All speedway countries need to agree to downgrade the machinery, make it more about skill and racing ability rather than out and out throttle. It'll never happen though.....
  2. I wasn't worried - I'm not a Plymouth fan! Was asking for a forum fan who could share the news.
  3. Don't worry about Nathan - he was in deep conversation for all to see on centre green with Danny Ford on Wednesday!!
  4. Don't other teams have any gaters then. Poole can't have the only ones surely.?? ps. Opposition riders, when interviewed, often say the track is great. Sam Masters said exactly that on Wednesday, and would 'love to race there every week'! The usual suspects on here complained about holes and ruts in the past but they have been sorted out a few years ago.
  5. Gilkes Rowe and Kemp were all missing from their Prem teams last night. The 'lucky' Plymouth black cat must have been run over by the Mark Phillips 'pack down' lorry!
  6. So Gilkes, Pearson and presumably now Thompson all missing from Plymouths 1-7?? I bet Mark Phillips is hoping for some of that wet stuff that Plymouth is becoming famous for......
  7. Probably waiting for the Leicester team to strengthen up?! Dicksons magic wand doesn't seem to be working.
  8. Have Leicester now discovered some available dates then?
  9. It wasn't for sale!! and the incumbant has a long(ish) lease.
  10. No agreement then for Darcy which is why Poole coughed up £30k for his signature! Since Darcy's accident and recuperation he is now a Promoter in Oz and running regular training schools with Watty and Boycie for the youngsters.
  11. Plymouth will struggle.....................!!
  12. I would say its talent spotting when a club (eg Poole) pays for the rider to come over from Oz in the first place and then loans him out (eg IOW etc) to gain experience! Its happened many times.
  13. When Mervyn Stewkesbury and Pete Ansell moved speedway from Weymouth to Poole in the 80s, they also had Neil Street as Team Manager and therein started the Poole Aussie influx on Streetie's recommendations. Those Aussie connections have continued of course with the likes of Boycie, Darcy, Davey Watt and others bringing through more young Aussies eg the Cooks being the latest. (NB. Those reading the programme notes last night will see the interview with Matt Ford when he named another young Aussie that Boycie brought over to Sweden recently - no names on here yet. Watch this space) In addition, Poole's successes in the Elite League (and Matt's time on the BSPA board) allowed Matt to establish contacts in Europe. One recent example being getting Artem Laguta for Steve Worrall's testimonial! He may be based in France - at least for now - but his finger is still very much on the speedway pulse. Maybe not liked - even 'hated' - by many opposition fans, but very much respected by all Promoters/Managers and sponsors!. If only Poole Speedway owned their own stadium..........................
  14. Bowtell guests for Anders; Sam Hagon guests for Adam.
  15. I think this could be a 'banana skin' for the Pirates with 2 reserve guests required. Douglas virtually unbeatable at home! MPT back if fully fit could also make a difference. Interesting match up.
  16. Pretty fair result all things considered. Both sides had some misfortune and some good performances. Track was in good shape according to the riders. Shamexaboutvthe bonus point but there it is. I doubt Pirates will lose by 14 away again. Oxford may well finish top but in this season's format I don't think it's too relevant as nobody will want to have Poole in their 3-team group.
  17. If it is ftg against the likes of Masters, Kerr and Nicholls then Poole will once again deserve the win!, the atmosphere will be electric and the large crowd will undoubtedly be thoroughly entertained!
