What a shame and not for the want of a lot of hard work by Alex Harkess amongst others. Mainly down to pay rates, I gather, as it had been decided which teams riders would represent, based upon either their country of origin or the team they had been signed to the longest. To even up team strengths, the British teams could have dropped their 6 and 7 and replaced them with other club assets - in Poole's case eg Lindback and Walesek. For Swindon, not sure, as they don't seem to do assets!! Anyway all a bit academic now, but an even bigger disaster for retaining the Sky contract!!!!

There's no issue with TV or sponsors - other than in the UK, which has the worst support of the leading speedway nations!! New rounds coming on stream and the best field of riders for some time. All they need to do now is find a better TV company/audience in the UK and maybe consider running it at a different time or a different day?!

Steve0, please show me where on the BSPA website its under 'team declarations' (that means approved!) for 2013. Yes its under team 'announcements', as the headline on the BSPA and Swindon websites also says "Swindon announce Batchelor". Really not trying to be difficult, just think its a very cleverly-worded press release to force BSPA MC into changing an earlier decision. (and yes Rosco is in Rugby this weekend, so you never know!!) W hen I see it confirmed, with a statement from the BSPA MC,- rather than just what your promoter says - then I'll fully believe it! nb. unfortunately I'll have to leave it there for the time being as I have other commitments til later on!!

Still can't see it confirmed anywhere!! Even on the BSPA site its only 'Team Announcements' (Rosco's in Rugby this weekend so probably popped into the offices and put it on himself!! ) - all the other announcements are just about agreeing terms with Batch, which pretty much everyone knew about anyway. I reckon now that the BSPA will have to agree 'under protest' and then fine/punish the Swindon promotion for not following the previous MC ruling!

Surely this is just the Swindon promoter giving an interview to the Swindon paper announcing his 1-7 to include Batchelor, with whom he's agreed terms (didn't we know that months ago?!). Where does it actually state that agreement has been reached with Peterborough and approval gained from BSPA?! Not sure this is the last of the saga, but should make for an even more interesting TV meeting in April.

I wonder why the news reporter didn't ring Matt Ford, the Club owner, in the first instance?? After all it wasn,t anything that happened on the track or as part of the Team GB set-up, or was anything directly to do with Middlo. If the question from the reporter went something along the lines of "What do you think about DW being arrested in the early hours riding his bike in a local park?" then Middlo's comments could well have been similar to those attributed to him?! Especially if he wasn't aware of everything said in court at that time?!

Any monies paid to the 'tracks' - without knowing who the other 4 tracks were - wouldn't necessarily go to the speedway promoters!! Promoters might also lose some revenue from fans attending the series and not affording to attend the weekly team match. So I can quite understand the 'nervousness' of existing promoters. In a period of recession, with lots of (all?) promoters losing money last season maybe thats why the objections were so great.

Whats a 'sheepskin car car'?? Whilst I tend to agree about 'Pro' league speedway, I think speedway will continue - it will just regroup and (hopefully) operate within realistic finances until the economy gets positive again. How that image is promoted will be key to retaining or getting new audiences.

The 'conviction'or punishment was a fine for 'fleeing the police' - a standard minimum $5500. He was also disqualified for 2 years for offence to do with uninsured vehicle and no licence, Whilst he admitted to puffing a spliff and being pissed, that was not what he was 'convicted'/punished for! However stupid he was, he is now in the UK!
