...but with several teams running out of cash!!!

A few clubs would go bust, or choose not to run in 2014!! That's what would happen!!

Bryn Williams - Best Wishes

Best wishes for a speedy return to fitness. Sorry the hip flask didn't break the fall!! -
With dreams like that, I hope you slept well!!

No, unless after a full and complete recovery, he signed for Poole of course!!!

I think it ended with PK's injury to be fair. And that's not a dig.

Where do you think the finance for your suggestions is going to come from PoP? I can't see any GP riders committing to a longer league programme for less money than this year - and we know the state that several clubs are in financially!! A lower-level amalgamated league has got to be the way forward - if only while the economy continues to struggle, as fans will not accept any increases in admission - and if there are 2 to 4 clubs willing to get involved in a Euro/Super League tournament of some sort then so be it!

Rosco has given his reasons for choosing home first - after all he stated weeks ago that Swindon would be at home on 23rd, who ever the opponents were !! Plus having the money from a good attendance (and Sky) a week earlier than otherwise had to be an added consideration. Anyway the script was adhered to. Terry Russell was at Perry Barr so agreed the semi-final line-ups and home/away dates with Sky so that they could be captioned at the end of the broadcast! Job done! Actually I think all 4 semi-finalists have displayed the occasional weakness and are all just as likely to win/lose away as they are to win or lose at home!! Very close to call either semi imo. Best of luck to all contenders and hopefully 4 injury and rain-free Mondays!

It could be called the 'squad pool'!!!

He looks like a prat from Denmark!!

We won't be seeing (m)any of the top riders in UK next year, whoever's assets they are. The number of teams financially able to compete at EL level in 2014 is probably about 2 or 3, so we can expect some sort of amalgamated league structure with a lower points limit!! (SteveBrum will once again disagree, but its inevitable!!)
-
The FIM's Armando Castagna has stated this is an objective of his - just not sure how high up on the FIM's priority list it is!! Whether it would be a weekend league or on the preferred race day of the competing countries is not certain! I guess it might depend on who gets the TV rights, or whether each home country's chosen broadcaster insist it takes place on a certain day, to suit their other sports coverage and viewing figures?! (NB. I believe Sky's quoted EL viewing figures for midweek speedway were better than Saturday GP figures, when they were doing it!!)
-
If Sky remain interested, they should forget about 'live' meetings and just run a weekly highlights package of the best races available to them. This could include league meetings from all levels - plus possibly some from abroad(?) - but would also have to include footage supplied by some of the clubs own video/production companies (not sure if this would have to be in HD or whether Sky would insist on HD quality if the show wasn't going out live)?! Clubs could also run an 'edited' version of the show on their own website as a promotional tool, to attract more punters to attend! It would be interested to see what the difference would be in both viewing figures and meeting attendances!

Somerset V Ipswich Monday 16/9

Shouldn't make any difference if the teams are already announced/declared!! -
A bit more passing on the 'sand track' than in previous rounds, but not much; a purpose-built speedway stadium probably only 25% full, but probably the same bloke doing the stadium music as at Poole; too many breaks for track-grading; a drawn-out 3 hours of TV coverage for a meeting that could have been run in under 2! Much better crowd, atmosphere and racing at most Poole meetings and all complete within 2 hours - unless Sky are present!
-
What makes you think the other promoters would vote for that and for losing even more money??!!
-
TR!!!?

I've watched both rounds of the Euros so far on TV, and despite the great atmosphere created in the stadia - especially the last one - and some reasonable racing, but no better than any average meeting, I find myself getting quite bored by them and very tempted to switch off before the end! Perhaps its because they don't actually mean much? Winning doesn't qualify you for anything other than the title of Euro Champion or whatever! I feel a bit like that with some of the GPs but at least they all progress to an ultimate goal and there's a recognised World Champion title at the end of it! Or maybe its because we know the riders are just riding for the big money on offer.

At least with Rosco's wife and new baby daughter back home and out of hospital and in good health again, he can now concentrate 100% on doing whats right for his promotion and ensuring his riders perform to their full abilities to get a great pay day in the semis!!
