  1. Just add a 'U' to that anagram and that just about describes what you are spewing!!
  2. Is that when there were just 2 TV channels and both in black and white?!
  3. You ought to read the full release on the BSPA news items - he sounds really disillusioned!!
  4. So therefore much better for the team that finished 4th to win - for the sake of speedway. To have the team that has been at the top or thereabouts to win the final as well, would be 'like killing it stone dead'!
  5. Yes but its the end of the season that counts!!! Having previously said that I doubted whether any of this year's top 3 would be in the 2014 team, I reckon that now Tai has become World Champion that may persuade the BSPA to change what they had previously been moving towards and maybe allow 1 GP rider (or 8+ point rider) per team - assuming of course that clubs can afford them or that the GP riders need British Speedway enough to take massive pay cuts!!
  6. Does that mean my questions cannot be answered?!
  7. A damaged hand and concussion doesn't stop you walking!!! But it does have an effect on riding!!
  8. Presumably there won't be any of the previous visa issues with Laguta for any of the GP rounds?!
  9. I am sure there is (or could easily be) a tyre for wet weather. However I can't see it working with the highly tuned machinery currently in use by the top riders!
  10. Its a psychological and mechanical virus which effects a rider's decision-making processes, causing them to feel sick. It can be very contagious and can often spread to vital parts of any mechanical equipment the rider has contact with!! Its a real shame that he's contracted this so late in the season, especially as he was showing signs of fighting it off earlier on in the season with a dose of 'takingZagarfromtheback'-itis!! Lets all hope for a speedy recovery!
  11. Can somebody please clarify for me:- 1. Are all EL websites on the same server(s) with .co/ domain names, as arranged by BSPA/GoSpeed? 2. AP Media were contracted to do the 'corporate design' of all websites? 3. Clubs could contract to use AP Media for additional services (eg press;PR) on a club-by-club basis? 4. Clubs could appoint their own webmaster as required?
  12. Very interesting comments from Brummies Co-Owner Alan Phillipps who will now miss the rearranged 2nd leg due to a pre-booked holiday!! He seems to be questioning why the covers weren't used??!! Suggesting that its not down to the home (nor presumably the away) promotion??!! "As a born and bred Brummie, it was very special for me and I was proud to represent you again this year and I'm delighted with the success we achieved. We finished top of the league, no one will ever take that away from us. "I was so confident that the meeting would go ahead on Monday as I assumed that, as in the semi finals, track covers would automatically be in place to ensure the meeting had the best chance of being on. Sadly, for whatever reason, this was not the case and the meeting was cancelled due to a waterlogged track meaning I am unable to attend the re-staging". Step forward BSPA/Sky for an explanation............
  13. I don't see why people are having a go at any Sky influence in restaging the meeting tomorrow?! I mean its not as if they are showing the England/Poland footie - its on ITV!!
  14. Ah so that's why Jim Lynch has reappeared at a couple of tracks in the past fortnight!!!
  15. Just to give a bit of balance, the Poole website has been very slow to access today due to 'problems with the .co/ servers'!!!!
  16. The meeting and result will probably be all sorted before England kick off!!!
  17. If any Sky decision to cover speedway in the future is financially driven (ie based on overpaying for Premiership footie etc), then reading a couple of the business pages today, the next round of bidding for Champions League football has a deadline of 5th November (NB the deadline is before the BSPA AGM). If Sky win that bid with an overinflated figure to ensure they beat BT Sport, then I can't see Sky renewing speedway. However if BT win the bid then Sky could still look to continue a deal with Speedway!!? On the flip side if Sky do win the Champions League bid, that could leave BT Sport looking for other sport to fill their schedules....!
  18. Agree with your Sky comments Hackett and made the same points on the Sky thread! I'm not sure about an 'independent' chairman or body as I can't come up with anyone that would be truly independent AND have enough knowledge of the sport. Anyone brought in without substantial knowledge of speedway would only have to learn it from those that are already involved!! For next season, no GP riders or no riders that are not based in UK has got to come in, in some form or other. GP riders don't want more meetings anyway - unless clubs share 2 riders for the number 1 position, but that won't reduce costs! -, its riders like Nicholls, Harris, Watt, Woodward et al that want more meaningful meetings with decent racing as well as most fans!!
  19. Is Patch still involved? or likely to be involved in 2014? Not having a dig, just asking...!?
  20. And those losses are WITH the Sky money!! So wages for top riders plus flight expenses to be axed for 2014?! If its the same for all clubs - will there be enough riders to go around?
