Who owns his contract? The 'new' Swindon or Mr Patchett?? Maybe he's up for sale to help balance someone's books?!
-
1 of 3 clubs!!!!! Unless Brummies are reverting to Thursdays?!
-
£70k is the least of the losses!!!!!!

Team Gb - Middlo Quits!
SteveLyric2 replied to Barry The Cat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Middlo made no secret of the fact that he was packing it in! Personally I'd like to see Neil Vatcher give it a go, with Morris sticking to the U21s!!! -
I think you'll find its MB(J), but whether its Poole, Birmingham or Kings Lynn is open to conjecture!! MB(J) says its a 'difficult' track, so unlikely to be Poole!!!
-
....And so to Wednesday's Poole Awards night in Champs Bar at the Stadium!! I believe MF is due to 'address the fans', so will be interested to hear any thoughts/hints prior to the AGM!!!

Speedway At The Crossroads

For those fans that want 'all the top riders', who are we actually talking about and how are we going to get them all and spread them among 9, 10, 11 or 12 'top level' teams?? Its just not on!! If we're '(un-) lucky', we may get a rule change that introduces ' a max of one GP rider per team' - but as others have said - what use is that in providing decent racing over 15 heats?? The sport has to re-group - with or without a major sponsor, TV or not! - lets get back to weekly team racing at a reasonable cost to the supporters! Maybe a typical ss response, but not typical of all Poole fans!!!! -
Just surmising from his comments on the press release on www.speedwaygp.com . He wants to be somewhere there are no 'issues', he's settled and happy!! It could well be Swindon, but who knows? One things for certain, he won't be riding for Poole!!!!!
-
Just checking my Facebook updates and I see Rosco has just become 'Friends' with Lewis Bridger!!! Should Robins fans be reading anything into this, I wonder?
-
Can't imagine there being a huge fight between BT and Sky for Speedway rights!! You seem to be assuming that the EL will increase in size?! What about Birmingham, Swindon and Eastbourne (and others???) who have reportedly had major financial losses eg Eastbourne not less than £70k!!
-
Spot on!! He mentioned some of the 'issues' that cropped up during the season, so maybe the same things may put in doubt Doyley making the obvious move to his parent club?! He's looking to get full contracts in both Poland and Sweden, so may also be thinking of not doubling up?

In case you didn't notice TWK - there's a question mark after 'name only'? That usually questions the statement or opinion, when its not a fact!!

Oz Championships 2013-14
SteveLyric2 replied to Primary Chain's topic in International World of Speedway
I think you might well find Holder taking part - if his recuperation continues to go to plan as it has done over recent weeks - if only for the chance to have a skid!! -
Name only? Trophy only! medals only! Records only! Sky only! Media only! Fans only!

I wonder if Sky would further 'drag out' any negotiations until the current contract actually ends at end December, in order to have even more of an upper hand in how Speedway on TV is to operate?! The BSPA would presumably have to make an AGM decision to go with a league structure that assumes 'no Sky', ie no expensive top riders; and other cost-cutting measures etc etc. Then Sky come along in January with a new deal that 'insists' on the top stars being involved in some way?! What would that mean at that relatively late stage? ...A new competition? A Super Cup or whatever, in addition to whatever League structure has already been agreed?! I'm just a bit bored really, with no news............................................................................!!

Just like 'the good old days'!!!????

No Sky Or League Sponsorship Money Etc...

No Sky Or League Sponsorship Money Etc...
SteveLyric2 replied to Phil's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes but Sky's contract for the Premiership and other footie is negotiated about 2 years prior to commencement, not a few weeks/months before!!! -
Not saying I told you so, but I told you so!!

Well with Harris back at Coventry, Barker still a Bees asset (and Horton not doing future business with Brummies?!), Doyle definitely going elsewhere and now an offer for King, its not looking too positive for Brummies at the top level!! But then it ain't looking that positive for any clubs at the 'top' level!!!!
-
I thought it was pretty well documented that all EL clubs received around £90k/£100k from Sky as a 'flat fee'. Plus each home club received an additional fee for a televised meeting, between £5k and £10k, which was originally agreed to help offset any fall-off in attendance. Whatever everyone's thoughts/bias towards their own club, presumably Sky selected the meetings that would expect to attract the best audience?! If Sky chose not to cover Bees (or any other club) meetings then it presumably reflected that team's league position and opponents at that time!

Speedy and full recovery Mr D.
