  1. Agree with Salty that now the BSPA (Jon Cook) have admitted its the BSPA at fault, then if the date still holds for both meetings the BSPA would be on even worse ground if they start to ban or fine riders!! Anyway not long to wait til Wednesday evening for a packed house, including me, at Champs Bar to hear from Havvy himself!!
  2. I wonder if BSI would/could ever publish a breakdown of UK vs foreign attendees at the Cardiff GP, together with a truthful paid attendance?! I'm sure Bob Dugard would argue the point PR!!
  3. Always first with the Speedway news - even when they're not supposed to be!!!!!!
  4. Must be me then.....!? PREMIER LEAGUE - Club Press Releases 03 Feb 2014 - RYE HOUSE SPEEDWAY ROUND-UP 31 Jan 2014 - LEICESTER: NEW SPONSOR DEAL FOR LIONS 31 Jan 2014 - IPSWICH: NEW TEAM BOSS ANNOUNCED 31 Jan 2014 - RYE HOUSE: LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! Edited. ...........and now its changed!!
  5. Good to see Jon Cook finally admitting the BSPA are to blame!!! Shame it wasn't done in the first statement! Now we'll see who has the biggest ba**s or the most money to cover all Havvy's costs, if the Farewell is changed?! Unfortunately none of that will help the fans that have booked time off or hotels!!
  6. Its not Sky Sports fault - 'cos the BSPA said so!!! Good on Sky for agreeing a new deal - 25 or so meetings will probably mean them 'ploughing' around £300k per annum into speedway! That's about £10k per televised meeting plus the Go_Speed fee.
  7. It was reportedly only around £1m per year previously - and that was to sponsor the league as well as to televise meetings!
  8. Yes - and if you'd quoted my whole post you would see I was talking about any club not only Birmingham!
  9. At least the BSPA office have confidence - the Leicester sponsorship announcement has been placed in the PL news section!
  10. Oh yeah, like that would get a real consensus???!!!! Incidentally where have I rubbished this important issue of race format? It'll be just as important at the end of the month as it might be for some today!
  11. Very good comeback - but has he got his visa???
  12. Quite possibly - but I expect that when one member of the BSPA in particular gets back from his holiday (this week I believe?!) - I'm sure there will be much more discussion on the topic!!
  13. Of course it will mean changing the way averages are used/calculated in 2015!! That was always going to be the case when 2 young Brits are included at reserve - no matter what the racing format!! No body wants 'strung-out races' - not fans, not Sky. and not the riders - neither the top riders nor the reserves!! I am sure there are formats that will make for better racing and at the same time 'protect' those riders that need 'protecting' within the 15 heat format. Clubs have been asked to give their preference to 1 of 3 options. If the chosen option is announced today, I can just imagine the various threads that will spring up - both pro and anti the chosen format!! Another month without that debate will do me!!
  14. Agree - I actually do believe this was nothing to do with Sky!! Why would their negotiators be the slightest bit interested in what fixture clashes there may or may not be?! This was down to Go-Speed, who were contracted to negotiate on behalf of..................the BSPA?!!!
  15. I'm sure I posted this somewhere, but in case I'm dreaming or going a bit ga-ga (which is entirely possible!?) Sky's new deal with Super League Rugby - one of those announced alongside Speedway - is reported to be in excess of £127million (that's the figure that the previous deal was worth!), as reported in some of the national sports and financial pages in the past few days!! The top man at Super League was quoted as saying 'the money would be the saviour of all the clubs'!! So presumably the figures for Speedway are available if the necessary research was carried out?! OR perhaps its such an insignificant sum compared to Rugby League that its not worth reporting?! Still be worth knowing at some point though.....?
  16. I hope not - we are expecting a decent crowd!!!!
  17. Can't you just imagine all the squirming going on at BSPA HQ at the thought that if both meetings go ahead on 21st then the line-up - and the crowd - for Havvy will be so much better than the ERC?! Well said Pandorum, and for those that are questioning the extent of his speedway-ending injuries - not to say life-threatening - I agree wholeheartedly with your final sentence!!
  18. Isn't the qualification for a Testimonial now '10 years in British Speedway'? Havvy's Farewell was granted because if he hadn't had such horrendous injuries, he would probably still be riding, whereas the poor bloke can now hardly walk and still doesn't have full use of one arm!!
  19. Just a quick word of congratulation to Charlie Webster, who I think gets a lot of unfair stick on here. She completed a 250-mile charity run in 7 days, visiting 40 football clubs, yesterday for the 'Women against Domestic Abuse' Charity. Well done Charlie.
