  1. Oh yeah, like that would get a real consensus???!!!! Incidentally where have I rubbished this important issue of race format? It'll be just as important at the end of the month as it might be for some today!
  2. Very good comeback - but has he got his visa???
  3. Quite possibly - but I expect that when one member of the BSPA in particular gets back from his holiday (this week I believe?!) - I'm sure there will be much more discussion on the topic!!
  4. Of course it will mean changing the way averages are used/calculated in 2015!! That was always going to be the case when 2 young Brits are included at reserve - no matter what the racing format!! No body wants 'strung-out races' - not fans, not Sky. and not the riders - neither the top riders nor the reserves!! I am sure there are formats that will make for better racing and at the same time 'protect' those riders that need 'protecting' within the 15 heat format. Clubs have been asked to give their preference to 1 of 3 options. If the chosen option is announced today, I can just imagine the various threads that will spring up - both pro and anti the chosen format!! Another month without that debate will do me!!
  5. Agree - I actually do believe this was nothing to do with Sky!! Why would their negotiators be the slightest bit interested in what fixture clashes there may or may not be?! This was down to Go-Speed, who were contracted to negotiate on behalf of..................the BSPA?!!!
  6. I'm sure I posted this somewhere, but in case I'm dreaming or going a bit ga-ga (which is entirely possible!?) Sky's new deal with Super League Rugby - one of those announced alongside Speedway - is reported to be in excess of £127million (that's the figure that the previous deal was worth!), as reported in some of the national sports and financial pages in the past few days!! The top man at Super League was quoted as saying 'the money would be the saviour of all the clubs'!! So presumably the figures for Speedway are available if the necessary research was carried out?! OR perhaps its such an insignificant sum compared to Rugby League that its not worth reporting?! Still be worth knowing at some point though.....?
  7. I hope not - we are expecting a decent crowd!!!!
  8. Can't you just imagine all the squirming going on at BSPA HQ at the thought that if both meetings go ahead on 21st then the line-up - and the crowd - for Havvy will be so much better than the ERC?! Well said Pandorum, and for those that are questioning the extent of his speedway-ending injuries - not to say life-threatening - I agree wholeheartedly with your final sentence!!
  9. Isn't the qualification for a Testimonial now '10 years in British Speedway'? Havvy's Farewell was granted because if he hadn't had such horrendous injuries, he would probably still be riding, whereas the poor bloke can now hardly walk and still doesn't have full use of one arm!!
  10. Just a quick word of congratulation to Charlie Webster, who I think gets a lot of unfair stick on here. She completed a 250-mile charity run in 7 days, visiting 40 football clubs, yesterday for the 'Women against Domestic Abuse' Charity. Well done Charlie.
  11. Quite true SCB, but Gavan does have a point, it will be the first opportunity for Sky to do a live interview with the new Team GB boss. That's why it will be an interesting decision as I understand there may be a plan for Rosco to do a bit more than just attend Havvy's meeting!!
  12. Most of the top riders eg Ward, Iversen, Batchelor, Zagar have voiced their preference to have more races against other top riders. They want to 'pit their wits' and match their skills' against riders of similar quality. They want to enjoy their racing - not be leading races by half a lap or whatever!! I don't particularly want to use Poole again as a good example - but they already have every one of the 15 heats sponsored; all the main sponsors still in place, plus a few more; and are well on the way to having every meeting sponsored - and just for the record I don't think the Promoters were at all fussed which of the 3 format options were finally selected!
  13. That's why I thought Bridger's was more deserving after his heroic efforts to avoid Harris (but failing miserably) in 2010!!! I guess you'll be amongst the first in the queue to donate then Steve0!!?
  14. Maybe its a mix of product, value for money and facilities!! Gone are the days of expecting fans to pay whatever and not get the chance to sit, or at the very least stand under cover, if they wish. And that is often out of the hands of the speedway promotion - whichever club it is!!
  15. No issue with Lewis offering something in return!! As I stated previously, what is Bomber offering? Free admission to a GP of choice?
  16. We'll have to see how far he honours his prior commitments then!!!!
  17. Aah was it? It wasn't clear from the early posts!! I'm never awake for the first showing of Q of S, whenever that is. Reading most of the rubbish on here really tires me out most nights!!
  18. But they've got to have some more top riders to justify the admission fee - unless of course they fund a reduction in price plus all the refunds from 2013 from the Sky money?!
  19. Yes well researched R&R!! Just think what might happen if any riders pick up a slight 'injury' or 'tweak' on the 20th - you know just enough to rule them out on Friday 21st!! Waits for further news with bated breath....
  20. I wonder where Rosco will be on 21st March?? He'll have an interesting decision to make!!
  21. With Chris Louis continuing in the pits with his 'big Sky screen', lets hope his Ipswich Team manager role doesn't throw up too many clashes with Sky meetings?! Oh hang on, maybe......................that might not be such a bad thing!! (This is especially for the Chris Louis Sky fan club!!)
  22. I don't think anyone is complaining about those posters who have suggested possible formats - its just those that keep on and on about the lack of an official announcement?! When is the first team meeting to use the new format?! Riders aren't that fussed - in fact many don't know what heats they are going out in (let alone who they are against) until the team manager tells them on the racenight!! So maybe confirm it a week before so that those involved in producing the new racecards/programmes can do their jobs. Sorted!
