  1. Not sure yet who the 2 Poole reserves will be as Newman did not ride for Plymouth last night after taking another fall at Poole on Wednesday and admitting he'd come back too soon!! Still no news on the Smart replacement?!
  2. It won't be too long - Peterborough have only just joined!!!
  3. Speedway is a business in the entertainment industry - first, last and foremost. Anyone who thinks differently is barking up the wrong tree!!
  4. ...but its all about giving the young Brit riders a chance.......!!! ps. Keep going posters we're almost at 200 pages!!!
  5. I would imagine that whoever it is, they would have to check availability for Poole's fixtures as against any PL/NL commitments or F/T job requirements first, so discussions would have been underway for at least a few days?! As MF stated in the press release it might only be for a month anyway to see how things go!
  6. If there is a general opinion that Smart was worth being given every chance, then why hasn't he been signed by any PL club?? Much of Lee's inability to improve as he stated himself, was down to a lack of racing elsewhere and the difficulty of investing in better equipment. Not wishing Lee any ill will or disrespect at all, but the main purpose of the draft is to 'fast track' those young riders that are displaying the ability and aspiration to represent Team GB at some point. As I've said before I hope Lee gets a PL place and even another EL place if he wants one and gets the chance to show what he used to have!!
  7. Sit them both down to watch Sky's Chris Louis' 'Inside Track' report of how to ride Monmore!!
  8. I do hope KB recovers quickly and returns to KL asap rather than riding himself back to fitness abroad for the GPs. But if he does choose to do the latter I hope it provokes as many opinionated posts as the DW/Poole thread - even though it would be perfectly understandable!!!
  9. Anyway Poole are the first team to drop a draft pick so we can stop this thread now!! Mods.....!
  10. He did have a couple of offs for Poole last night - and wasn't selected for the nominated heat 15??!
  11. At least Kennett reverts to his proper level as a 2nd string with Sqora making heat leader from today!!
  12. One of the issues with Lee Smart - as he himself commented in the post-meeting interviews - compared to many of the other FT draft riders is that he has no regular PL race time to try to improve to EL level - assuming that is what he wants to do?! The FTDL was launched as an attempt to give an opportunity to those young British riders with ambition to succeed at the top level. Maybe Lee just didn't meet some of those criteria, whereas his eventual replacement might?! I hope he gets a PL berth asap.
  13. I've just sussed who you are RP!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Just MF following up his promise that selected meetings would be heavily discounted during 2014!
  15. He was working - as many of the NL draft riders have to do and as was stated as a possibility for several riders at the beginning of the season!!
  16. Well done Brummies - good value for their point and good to see some travelling support!! As for the so-called 'crap' track with no shale>! There was much more shale on the well-watered track tonight which riders on both sides just couldn't handle in the early heats, Then the rain came and made it a bit of a lottery mid-meeting, but some great racing in the latter heats! Not a lot wrong with Mr Shovlar's report - in fact pretty fair I thought. Also great gesture (as promised) by Matt Ford - Adult admission for next Wednesday v Belle Vue is discounted to £10 - one of the 'special offers' at selected 2014 meetings!!
  17. Rory Schlein has been selected for the Roos and has agreed to come out of 'international exile'. This is presumably to cover for Darcy?!
  18. The Poole track has a couple of bumps/holes/ruts going into turns 1 and 3. They've been there a long time and as Josh G states in the local rag today - it mainly helps the home riders as they know where they are plus any away riders who bother to be professional and take notes from all their previous visits. Many riders comment about the amount and type of shale which governs how much the track can/should be watered prior to and during a meeting - taking account of the weather conditions/forecasts! The main moans are to do with consistency of surface from one meeting to the next - its one of the bugbears (or benefits depending on your point of view) of being on the sunshine south coast!!
  19. With Darcy now deciding to defer his knee op to the end of the season, I hope he chooses not to ride in any unnecessary challenge matches like Aussies v Poland on Thursday!! Oooops!! Of course he can't ride in British speedway until at least May 11th!
