Now, far more important and something for all the anti-Poole/anti-Ward posters to get their teeth into - Middlo stated on BBC radio this morning that Darcy Ward will be out for at least another 4-5 weeks and is even thinking about having the knee op sooner than the end of the season, depending on more specialist advice!! Holder is only on a temporary 'stop-gap' arrangement and as he starts his Danish commitments almost immediately, will not be a long term answer. So maybe for the Poole faithful, Wimborne Road will need to become 'fortress Poland'!!!!!

Keep up CR its in tomorrow's Echo, and quoted earlier today!! Poole notified the BSPA on 25th April that Smart was to be replaced by Compton, who had agreed to sign for Poole. Compton injured his finger at Lakeside that same night and then broke his scaphoid over that weekend. The redeclaration therefore did not go through so Smart stayed in the 1-7 but was unavailable to slot back in for the BV meeting on the Monday (He can't do Mondays). Smart rode again on the Wednesday and then chose not to ride again for either Poole or Devon and has retired from speedway!! Poole will use guest replacements (as there is no r/r for reserves) from the FT list below Smart until Compton is fully fit and MF will re-evaluate at that time.

Compton has agreed to sign for Poole but has a broken scaphoid. MF will wait until he's recovered and in the meantime use guests from the appropriate place in the Draft list. (all in the local Echo online) I'm sure it will all be announced on Poole's new website, launched today!! Ben Hopwood guests v BV on Wednesday. Smart's retired from speedway - ask Devon Demons!!! So as he's still in the 'official' Poole 1-7 (as they stopped short of redeclaring due to Compton's injury) they will use a guest until Compton is fit to be declared! Its not rocket science!!

If anyone listens to the Holder interview on the latest Piratecast podcast, as all his equipment for 2014 was based abroad and all the bikes are set-up for the bigger Polish/Swedish tracks ie 'strong' engines, he doesn't have any 'softer' engines for the bulk of the British tracks, including Poole. He has experimented with a few engines brought over from Poland but they are all too strong and end up spinning too much - hence is below-par performances so far, which are not injury-related!! As mentioned in some of the earlier posts, Poole's No.1 problem if DW is not fit enough to return is that Holder has now committed to Danish fixtures as well as Swedish/Polish so will not be available as the season progresses.
