  1. Whatever the number of teams/leagues in 2024 - 2leagues (+NDL); 6 and 8 teams respectively, imo) - then fixture planning and the number/structure of competitions will need extra thought to avoid big clashes with TV Olympics coverage and Euro '24 matches, quite apart from the usual issues. At least Championship clubs can have some flexibility with their race nights!
  2. Just scrape all the top shale back so the track is smooth and quicker to dry. Should be OK!
  3. Don't forget the Brit discount for team building! (2.5% or whatever is decided for 2024?)
  4. There are probably a lot more defunct greyhound tracks/stadia than speedway tracks in the UK. I presume many have been redeveloped but could it be one of those?
  5. Slough used to have a greyhound track which was also the home of Slough Town FC many years ago. I seem to recall a supermarket being built on the site but it's a long time ago.
  6. I watched it live. The Speedway Star report says 'possibly' in 2024.
  7. Has anyone ever suggested that a new track would be up and running in 2024?!
  8. Those countries don't have 'fixed' race nights, they have priority race nights for when there are fixture clashes. Also is any new track allowed to go straight into the Premiership? Oxford weren't allowed to 2 seasons ago!
  9. And being related to the promoter probably helps!
  10. Announcement imminent according to some on facebook!! If true I'm surprised they are not waiting til next month's AGM? Maybe its been leaked!
  11. Rumourio, Rumourio, Wherefore art thou Rumourio?
  12. If Phil Morris is supposed to be sorting out Premiership Speedway then he should start with a behavioural code of practice for all riders - especially with media interviews - and a schedule of punishments if/when they overstep the mark!
  13. Garry May was sounding out the Thompsons at Poole last week!
  14. They need to get some more financial backing first - according to Mark Phillips, who is seeking to appoint a Commercial Manager. I'm sure I've seen an advert for an open fans forum soon - somewhere on Facebook probably.
  15. Just reading the Polish round-up in this week's Speedway Star and Piotr Pawlicki is looking to race in British speedway in 2024.
  16. He is one of the latest Darcy Ward proteges. He won a meeting at Brisbane on Saturday! He has ridden occasionally as a squad member in Polish and Danish lower divisions so would still come in on an assessed 4.00 average, I'm told.
  17. BE will set the rent at whatever level they wish - maybe just to be bloody-minded if they lose the appeal. I think Osborne said Poole's rent was currently £2.5k per meeting which is just for one sport at the stadium.
  18. The season has always been March to October and the weather has always been the weather!
  19. I guess he's a prime example of 'if you want to make a small fortune from speedway, you have to start with a large one'!
  20. With Birmingham already opting for Monday racing in the Premiership, and Poole staying Championship, the one league scenario seems unlikely.
  21. Viability is still relevant to the BE case as they would still own the site and expect a 'healthy' rental from any users.
