  1. Those that know me at at least 3 tracks know that you are talking out of your backside - and not for the first time!! For the record, and I've said it on other threads the future of 'EL standard' speedway either has to go towards a smaller 'Super' league of clubs that can afford to operate in it, OR get rid of the GP riders and have One larger league of PL+ standard. Personally whichever way it goes would be fine by me. I've supported, both by attendance and sponsorship at all levels over the years, so bring it on. I have no problem with Poole or any other team 'aiming to win'! that's what being in a competitive league/cup/tournament is all about, as long as its done within the clubs own financial limits and the guidelines agreed by the majority.
  2. I'm sure Rosco wouldn't want him to drop further down the list as that would mean fewer options to replace him if needed but if he fails to trouble the scores then who knows?! Having said that the likes of Brendan Johnson and Ben Hopwood would be available...!
  3. The only thing wrong is your opinion!! Have a go at the BSPA by all means but not on a Pirates thread. All promoters were advised of the proposed changes to the FT lower order, but if there was a majority against it, why allow it to change. Rosco certainly wasn't bothered by it, when he got the team sheet for Wednesday.
  4. Aah, I must have missed it yesterday afternoon as I was preparing to actually attend a live speedway meeting rather than continue to tap away on my laptop. I left home early as I knew there would be a bumper crowd to see a good meeting and I was proved right!! Compton got loads of cheers - as did all the Poole riders, and a couple of the Robins - presumably because loads of speedway fans were just happy to be there!! As has been commented elsewhere there were some Brummie fans present, who were also very pleased with the Poole performance and the racing
  5. Check the updated FT replacement wording on the BSPA website, as of yesterday 6th August!!! NB. Good to hear that young Greaves has declared himself fit for Swindon's meeting tonight!! That was a nasty-looking accident, which clearly required the doctor's attention for longer than usual!!
  6. Good to see the BSPA have now updated the FTDR 'rule' on their website as of yesterday 6th August! The 'rule' covers the need to have either a guest or a replacement of any FT rider below position 24 on the list!! Great to see MF going with the rules, as if anyone doubted it??! Incidentally the change was notified/ratified on Sunday, when Swindon were advised of Poole's team for last night. The only thing to comment on is why the BSPA didn't update the ruling straight away? Maybe the office staff don't work on a Sunday?? and had a couple of days off this week? None of which is Poole's fault!! There were loads in the bumper crowd last night that clearly didn't share that view!!
  7. Poole didn't race against KL last week, but Poole beat them the week before. Team effort!
  8. I can't believe people are complaining about the racing? Some terrific scraps and overtaking by Ward, Milik, Magic (what a heat 5 revelation!) and Josh in particular. Kildemand and North doing their best.. Plus a very large and appreciative crowd - lots of holidaymakers and many more than usual staying for the presentations at the end. Didn't see or hear (m)any Robins fans. Very surprised at the size of the scoreline but when your skipper has a mare and your guest doesn't perform you can't hope for much I guess! Rider of the Night - Maciej Janowski!! (Just in case people don't know him, he's one of the 'flaky Poles' and Poole's weak link!!)
  9. Don't shoot the messenger - I am only passing on the info provided on the Poole forum!!! As I said, several Poole fans were also questioning how it had been done?! Isn't the Fast track Co-ordinator Phil Morris? In which case he sometimes comes on this forum so maybe we can hope for a comment?! Not sure how it all works, other than he keeps a record of monthly scores/performances and presumably makes recommendations to the BSPA MC (not certain if he is a BSPA member himself?) If it turns out to be wrong well at least Compton can guest this week and next!!
  10. Worrall is not confirmed on the Robins website so maybe Rosco's having second thoughts!! Especially if Morris's new equipment has arrived.?! Whatever the case, its always a good scrap with the Robins, so hopefully we'll get a decent meeting. Heavy rainfall overnight, stopped around 6am and is slowly drying out through the day. Maybe a light shower late afternoon?! Ah there is a god after all!!
  11. Newman's beaten quite a few decent 2nd strings as well as the 'protected' reserves!! 13+1 on Monday on an away track wasn't just against FT reserves!!
  12. Several Poole fans have questioned the decision on the Poole forum. Poole's webmaster has explained that as far as he has been informed the 'Fast Track Co-ordinator' has changed the rulings as far as the 'lower graded 'riders are concerned, as it was clear it wasn't working as well as originally hoped!! As long as all promoters are aware of, and in agreement with, any changes, then where's the problem? Apart from various fans wanting to make their own 'for and against' comments on forums such as this, then its really none of our business - as long as all the BSPA members are in agreement!!! If they are not, then I guess we'll be hearing more about it - hopefully before this evening!
  13. It was all the Brummies fans swelling the attendance!!! You have a father???!!!
  14. ...and that's finally been put right with the approval of Compton for Johnson, after Compton's signing was submitted to and approved by BSPA prior to injury back in April!!
  15. The teams declared today show 2 changes:- Poole: Compton in for Johnson at reserve Swindon: Guest (tbc) for Gustafsson.
  16. No Holder for Piraterna?? Or is Zagar still contracted to cover??
  17. As I've mentioned before on other threads, Poole (MF) and Wolves (CVS) both proposed a reduction in EL admission charges, due to the intro of the FT rider scheme - BUT the PL promoters were aghast at any such suggestion,as 'it would put many PL clubs out of business' if they had to follow suit. So it was outvoted at the AGM. This might mean that most PL clubs are running very close to the wind in remaining solvent - and that at least Poole and Wolves have a business plan for their clubs which works for them, but possibly not for other EL clubs?! Lakeside also appear to have a business plan that works for them without (and no disrespect here) having any of the 'top' riders, but they run what they can afford. This is what makes it difficult (nigh impossible) for a 'blueprint' for the EL that suits every club, because every club will/should have a business plan that suits their local circumstances. If, for example, Poole want to run with Darcy Ward because he attracts better sponsorship and bums on seats then why should that not be permissible? Similarly, if other clubs want to work to a different financial plan that works for them then why not?! Incidentally 'works for them' means at least being able to compete on track and have decent attendances.
  18. I said earlier in the season that I was looking forward to the 'B' fixtures - as Vaclav has a very mature head on his shoulders (not that we would always realise that with some of his riding!!) and learns very quickly, despite not speaking too much English! I think, dependant on the points limits for next year, that Vaclav will be a heat leader, as I don't expect to see (m)any of the 'top' GP riders in the EL - assuming there is one in its current format?!
  19. Well didn't expect that margin of victory. Great performance by Poole, only really threatened by the younger Pawlicki!! Looking better for the play-offs now - plus of course if you believe JJR/KKS, we've still got THJ to come in................!!! lol
  20. Connor Dugard still sounds very positive!!!
  21. He's going to have to lower his average a fair bit more for it to make any difference(?) for this year - Poole's 1-5 are now at 36.12!!!!
  22. Mind you I think I might consider not going to my local track if my club messed up their paperwork!!??
  23. I'm quite sure there will be sponsors keen to be linked with the World Speedway League Champions!!
