  1. Well done to another Lanning doing their best to publicise speedway nationally. There is usually a small piece of speedway news in the Sun every Saturday, but this was exceptional, in the UK's largest circulation daily!!!
  2. Poole usually start the Rider Parade at 7.30, with first race at 7.45pm and are usually spot-on! If bad weather is forecast, then they dispense with the parade and go straight in with the racing. On Good Friday they started bang on 12 noon, as advertised, but the meeting took nearly 2 and a half hours to complete with track work, fence repairs and rider injuries!!
  3. I've now watched a re-run of Monday's meeting (didn't watch it live as I preferred the footie and BBCWM's coverage of Wolves v Poole) and thoroughly enjoyed the 'new coverage'. Aside from any personal views about the presenting personnel, there are not many if any suitable alternatives. Good on Sky for trying out Ryan - he will only get better, before he disappears back to Oz! - and I don't dislike the Charlie Webster interviews - never as good as Suzi Perry or Sophie Blake - but she is learning. Maybe each track or Sky should put her in an enclosed studio environment and she could adopt her FHM magazine attire when doing the interviews??! It could act like the 2-minute warning!
  4. Fingers crossed for all at BV today. Best of luck for the right announcement.
  5. Promotions need a planned approach to 'promote' their special offers on a regular basis - not just announce a '£5 off' admission a few days before the meeting on speedway websites! To be factual, Swindon only did that because the crowd was so low the previous week! Patch was probably very worried he wouldn't have enough to pay Peterborough/Glasgow!! I don't agree with 'staggered' pricing, as what appears a less attractive fixture on paper often turns out the opposite, but a different 'special offer' every week, promoted to non-regulars/schools/colleges/clubs etc etc would help.
  6. ....and occasionally he even drives to those situations himself!!!
  7. He'll have to get a lift to any hotel stopovers for the next 6 months then!
  8. Didn't think Kyle was a charity case - but well done anyway. His bikes looked very well turned out yesterday at Poole>
  9. I'm sure once you've got to the end SCB, there will be many hundreds more posts to keep us all amused!!!! Here's to hoping you're a slow reader.
  10. PR I think your comment above sums up a lot of what is wrong with Speedway's popularity unfortunately. What riders think is a good race track is not what spectators believe!!!! We know - especially at GP level - that all riders just want the best equipment to make them go faster. Tracks are prepared (ie, usually with very little dirt) to suit the new, current machinery and from a spectator point of view we get many more processional races in a conventional meeting and less entertainment. Of course there will be those long standing fans who will continue to attend just to see the likes of heat 20, but many more 'first-timers' who may not bother to go/watch again!! I know its 'speed'way, but throughout the sport there has to be some sensible control of engine revs/speed/noise which reduces speed slightly and allows for better track prep - for the spectator! Just my view....!
  11. Rain offs??? Its a 'snow-off' in Brum for Wednesday. Thats the first lost Sky meeting!!
  12. Just extend the SGPs into the Far East - China, Malaysia etc - and watch the sponsors roll in!!!
  13. I don't mind either way - single or double points! However I do feel, as someone else has already posted, that in the final, all 4 riders should score something, maybe 4,3,2,1. or 6.4.2.1. But it won't change again now for this season!
  14. I expect they'll have their own studio with their own dull guests!!
  15. Your post - 'All meetings except when Poole are racing. Their meetings will be on the Adult Channel , where all the t!ts can be seen.' Why mention Poole (or any team for that matter) in the context of an Adult channel?? Totally irrelevant to the thread as well as being somewhat insulting as well!! Hence my response which suggested that, to come out with comments like that, you must like watching the channel with all the t!!ts to keep warm!! We don't need such things 'daaann saaaath' to keep warm, we have the World Champion and other top speedway riders every week!! ps. just watched heat 20 of the NZ GP again - terrific racing by Darcy Ward. Looking forward to seeing more of the same this Friday.
  16. I know very little about it and have no need to. It was you that introduced the topic. I guess its a way for you to keep warm north of the border!!
  17. Many thanks to Eurosport for showing the IMG/BSI tv coverage. Not sure I could stomach the commentary team for every GP although it was good for a change - they did seem to just carry on talking whether there was anything useful to say or not!!! Still its back to Nigel and Kelvin/Jan for the remaining GPs
  18. Great edition Speedway Star - a brilliant read!
  19. ...but they won't be quick enough with him on his GP bikes. On a 50cc pit bike - fine!!
  20. Gives people the chance to travel home at a decent hour - especially now there is virtually no hotel accommodation left in or even near the city.
  21. You seem to be missing the point. Its about audience figures for live speedway (and live sport in general)on different nights. Sky have enough live sport for a Saturday evening. However Mondays, when audiences are much higher for EL meetings, are a very different matter. That said, the BSPA and Sky still need to work together to get a better EL package for that audience.
