  1. I wonder if this will also affect Todd's place at Somerset, as presumably they would expect to live, travel, workshop etc together?
  2. plus a cap on team expenditure to curb costs!!! Where Speedway starts, others follow!!
  3. It might be me - but I don't fully understand that post!!??
  4. Not sure if this has been asked/answered but how is Brady Kurtz on 3 points??
  5. As a fan I can't disagree with this view - in fact while the sport is in the state it supposedly is, I would prefer a recorded highlights show - maybe fortnightly - rather than a lot of mediocre live meetings. However, from a commercial point of view - and certainly to benefit any new League Sponsor - regular weekly meetings are an attractive package (or should be!)
  6. Agreed! Going back to the start of this thread, there were at least 2 other posts with the same info! Do they actually follow the Echo sports reporter's tweets? Its not as if he's even the regular speedway reporter!! Also, whether MF did say anything to this reporter (MF is not on Twitter),where and from whom would he have got the info if the 'deal is still being negotiated'?!
  7. Even assuming the new deal was announced too early,- where/from whom did the info originate??
  8. Yes but which would be the most likely?? A properly designed and run website with maximum interaction and accompanying facebook, Twitter etc etc feeds, could potentially reach millions!!
  9. Not wrong at all!! If you believe GoSpeed are the only ones in regular touch with Sky - think again!! All MF's many sponsors will be well pleased and will keep the level of their investment at a strong level!! Plus of course Poole will probably get their fair share of the televised meeting revenue, so good news all round and correct to share it asap!!!
  10. So a 5-year TV-only deal with Sky again - and the chance to attract a new 'Main' sponsor for the League(s)!! That should at least assist clubs and riders in attracting their own corporate sponsors!
  11. Only available exclusively from UK's sole stockist - GSI Electricals!!!
  12. That just about sums up speedway as a whole!!!!!!
  13. Just to add a small bit of balance to the volunteers vs paid workers in speedway. Not all clubs rely solely on volunteers - I know at least one EL club that at least pays its Programme Co-Ordinator - and possibly others!! Whether its enough of course is another question entirely!!? Also, on the question of 'standardised' websites or homepages - the reason some promoters want a degree of individuality in the design is because they want sufficient space to give prominent exposure to all their sponsors and commercial partners!! As we know, some clubs are much better at attracting sponsors/partners than others, which does favour the idea of individually designed sites, but with some consistency of style and corporate branding as appropriate. I thought that what AP Media was selected to do - create and design - not host!!
  14. Don't forget the readers of the 'online' version of local newspapers - not so aged as the readers of the actual printed copy!!
  15. Still waiting.................zzzzzzzzzzz!!!
  16. JACAMO to provide size 5XL racesuits!!
  17. A few clubs (not all) have announced their season ticket prices, with varying 'deals' - some good, some not so - on the usual admission price!! The Wolves offer does seem very good though!
  18. I do agree with many of the suggestions about using modern methods of marketing and communication to reach younger audiences, even though I think the 'I know better than you' attitude is not the way to approach it!! But it is by no means the sole issue. New spectators need to be attracted to attend - AND TO KEEP ATTENDING ON A REGULAR BASIS!! And therein is one of the many conundrums for most promoters who have little or no control over the facilities on offer at the stadia in which they present their product!! Even those clubs that own their own stadia, often offer a poor experience in this modern day and age, and that's before we even start on the actual racing, presentation or promotion of team/riders' personalities etc etc. On a personal level, I do not necessarily agree that the sport needs the top riders to make for better racing!! However, when you are trying to market the sport and the 'personalities' in the sport, then having the top riders - especially the World Champion, whichever country he comes from - certainly should add to the positives! SYNIKALLE, if you are serious in your suggestion to offer your services for FREE, then surely you wouldn't have a problem in outlining your proposals on here?! I assume you have already made contact with the BSPA or some individual promoters, so why not start a fresh thread on the BSF?! There is clearly some other Marketing and Communication expertise amongst other posters, which would I'm sure offer constructive advice and additional guidance upon seeing your proposals....!
  19. Why do you assume the 2014 product will be 'shockingly poor and boring'? There is absolutely no evidence to support that! If the revised race format gets it right and we have riders of similar ability in the same heats then the racing should be ok. Also if there's a local Brit lad in at least one of the reserve places, then that gives all local and social media something to bang their drum about as well as the top riders!!
  20. Those clubs with a podcast (official or unofficial) could co-ordinate that!! One issue though is that the average age of a speedway supporter puts many of them in the group that don't understand what a podcast, app, smartphone etc etc is!!!! ps. phone votes to a premium number at 50p a time??????? Tony Millard would be turning in his grave!!! God rest him!!
  21. One of the big questions is - will the Post-AGM change it all again, if there is then a substantial TV/Sponsorship deal in place?! With a decision expected 'imminently' (according to the BSPA statement), maybe the next meeting in early December to 'allocate/draft' the NL riders, will also have a different agenda?
