  1. Still waiting.................zzzzzzzzzzz!!!
  2. JACAMO to provide size 5XL racesuits!!
  3. A few clubs (not all) have announced their season ticket prices, with varying 'deals' - some good, some not so - on the usual admission price!! The Wolves offer does seem very good though!
  4. I do agree with many of the suggestions about using modern methods of marketing and communication to reach younger audiences, even though I think the 'I know better than you' attitude is not the way to approach it!! But it is by no means the sole issue. New spectators need to be attracted to attend - AND TO KEEP ATTENDING ON A REGULAR BASIS!! And therein is one of the many conundrums for most promoters who have little or no control over the facilities on offer at the stadia in which they present their product!! Even those clubs that own their own stadia, often offer a poor experience in this modern day and age, and that's before we even start on the actual racing, presentation or promotion of team/riders' personalities etc etc. On a personal level, I do not necessarily agree that the sport needs the top riders to make for better racing!! However, when you are trying to market the sport and the 'personalities' in the sport, then having the top riders - especially the World Champion, whichever country he comes from - certainly should add to the positives! SYNIKALLE, if you are serious in your suggestion to offer your services for FREE, then surely you wouldn't have a problem in outlining your proposals on here?! I assume you have already made contact with the BSPA or some individual promoters, so why not start a fresh thread on the BSF?! There is clearly some other Marketing and Communication expertise amongst other posters, which would I'm sure offer constructive advice and additional guidance upon seeing your proposals....!
  5. Why do you assume the 2014 product will be 'shockingly poor and boring'? There is absolutely no evidence to support that! If the revised race format gets it right and we have riders of similar ability in the same heats then the racing should be ok. Also if there's a local Brit lad in at least one of the reserve places, then that gives all local and social media something to bang their drum about as well as the top riders!!
  6. Those clubs with a podcast (official or unofficial) could co-ordinate that!! One issue though is that the average age of a speedway supporter puts many of them in the group that don't understand what a podcast, app, smartphone etc etc is!!!! ps. phone votes to a premium number at 50p a time??????? Tony Millard would be turning in his grave!!! God rest him!!
  7. One of the big questions is - will the Post-AGM change it all again, if there is then a substantial TV/Sponsorship deal in place?! With a decision expected 'imminently' (according to the BSPA statement), maybe the next meeting in early December to 'allocate/draft' the NL riders, will also have a different agenda?
  8. At least Middlo would know the difference between Dave and Rodney!! Whoever gets the job now will not find it any easier with the same 'also-rans' - many with bigger egos than their ability - or riders that test new engines in a World Cup meeting!!!
  9. What about this new Parliamentary MPs Group? Isn't one of the supposed advantages of such a group to be able to source new financial grants to assist young riders in sport? Maybe this is an ideal opportunity for the Parliamentary Group to prove its worth!!!
  10. Looks as though you're having a double, A ORLOV!!!
  11. Pandorum, I think you'll find Sky Sports have been the League Sponsor, as well as televising meetings!!! One of the potential problems of having a Main Media Sponsor - of anything, not only speedway - is that other media tend to avoid giving their competition any exposure!! Its a bit like a Daily Mirror-sponsored event not being given coverage by the Sun, Times etc!!
  12. The 'Elite' title is part of the Sky deal, so nothing can change or be announced until the new TV deal (with whoever) is announced.
  13. Parsloes - The term British League has been quietly used in a couple of promoter statements/comments. I guess the BSPA are waiting for the new TV/Sponsorship deal before the new ".............(insert TV company)....British League' is officially announced!
  14. The 3rd one is probably Speedway.TV !!!!
  15. Not quite sure I understand that last post?! The 'young british reserves' (as selected by Messrs Morris and Vatcher) will remain in the reserve positions all season - even if they perform well enough early season for their average to move above a second string. Also we don't have any rules published for 2014 yet - unless the BSPA/SCB have been exceptionally efficient post-AGM - so we don't know yet what race format or rules about riding orders, re-declarations etc etc will indicate.
  16. I think there should be a full clear-out now that Middlo has quit. Morris should go to as he was just as much a part of the TEAM GB set-up as Middlo!!! Give it to Rosco and Screeny!!!
  17. Not disputing the need for more/better online marketing, but I would be interested to know exactly how that would produce 'higher quality racing'?? Would the rider in 2nd, 3rd or 4th place be tweeting his partner away in the lead to slow down a bit?
  18. I wish people would take the trouble to read the latest posts from those 'in the know' eg Tsunami, amongst others. Also the statement on www.speedwaygp.com by Jon Cook gives more detail and fills in some of the gaps in the original (rushed!) headline statement issued Sunday.
  19. 'Viewing figures are awful'?? Really? That's probably because there's none on at the moment!!
  20. Why?? Its never been that interesting previously.....!!
  21. So it seems the 20 NL (or whatever) Brits are to be selected by Phil Morris and Neil Vatcher - the joint U21 Team GB managers - prior to the allocation! Presumably those selected will have been spoken with first and only 'put forward' if they want to progress and agree to whatever the 'terms' are??!!
  22. I'm sure its not just me, but isn't this AGAIN a case of the BSPA rushing out a press release that hasn't been properly thought through, as it raises as many questions as it attempts to give answers?! It happened last year as well when a further full statement 'offering clarification' had to be issued. Already statements appearing on club websites and other social media use different wording to the 'official' statement and consequently lead to other confusing interpretations. Whoever composes/issues these statements needs a good education in 'how to write a press release'!!
