What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
SteveLyric2 replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
'No signings' probably means 'no announcements'! Especially as Redcar are apparently announcing their full 1-7 at their Xmas party next week?! -
Aside from various forumer opinions about Poole's rider signings and those that reckon Promoters don't 'promote' - the Fraser Bowes signing was featured in the local Echo (full back page with photo; plus sports page interview with Danny Ford, in print and online); BBC Radio Solent; BBC South Today (including racing footage); Meridian TV; Dorset Magazine; plus Tik Tok reels, Instagram, X and Facebook, as well as the traditional speedway media, plus undoubtedly some that I've not seen. Not bad in the 'off-season'!!

Yes but Aston Martin is going well - and a lot quicker too!🫠
-
Including the one in Darcy's back garden?!😜
-
It's a good signing, although I thought they might wait til after the Aussie season to announce it, bearing in mind how injury-prone he has been.
-
Surely Phil Morris won't have a job. With no TV contract and a 'diminishing' Prem, he will be redundant won't he?
-
....and both are/were on the BSPL Board Top Table!!!!
-
There was something said in the budget today about a big investment into the Peterborough Sports Quarter? Does that have any effect on the Panthers return?

Does that mean that paramedic provision at all tracks will be sponsored?😁😉 -
What is there when Clubs are for sale?

I thought Spedeworth owned Foxhall stadium? -
Couldn't Barney Kennett, the new President of WSRA have a friendly word with the Dugards? I'm sure the BSPL could propose an acceptable Promoter for Eastbourne!
-
2 or 4 according to Danny Ford.
-
The bikes and engines can be different. Not sure what you mean by 'top stars'? If you mean GP-level riders then yes of course the Championship features fewer. However several Championship teams feature riders who also ride in the Premiership - some as heat leaders/ I would think Championship admission prices are at least an average £3-£5 cheaper than Premiership. Most other stadium/ meeting costs will be on a par.
-
Then a wages incentive could be a way forward to a higher payrate, rather than the expectation from the start!!?

I asked this question a few days ago, slightly tongue in cheek but................. If the remaining Prem teams are adamant they want to remain in a Prem League with more teams than 4 or 5, why can't they each run a 2nd team themselves on alternate weeks and re-name it Super League? eg Belle Vue Aces; and Belle Vue 'Kings' Leicester Lions; and Leicester 'Cats' Kings Lynn Stars; and Kings Lynn 'Moons' Sheffield Tigers; and Sheffield 'Rivets' Ipswich Witches; and Ipswich 'Crones'? or similar.... -
Don't forget VAT!!
-
I make that 42.43 even with the 2.5% reduction for Brits!!
-
The Fords usually have at least 3 pencilled line-ups each pre-season. This year may be a bit different depending on the final team building points. Agreed to be 40 for 3 seasons but dependant on a 9-team Championship!! Awaits, with interest...........!
-
Rowe isnt the only one expecting to be paid more than Pirates are willing to pay!!
-
I'll be more than happy if Bowes increases his average by .81
-
You often find that riders in losing teams don't perform well whereas riders in winning teams do better.
-
Yeah but Worky were pretty crap at most away tracks too. Their top away score was 43 and that was at Poole where Bowes scored 13
-
Falling out with the management probably hasn't helped either!!
-
Not like you Lewy!! You on the beer again?😇
-
Was it 2 consecutive years? He did ride for Poole in 2023.😇
