Wasn't it reported that Dudek was tested after he rode for Zielona Gora, back in June? I wonder, with all the chaos of switching venues in Latvia, whether the usual official 'random testing' procedure was adhered to?? Or whether there was any 'cutting of corners'? You never know , Ward may have been 'shopped' by another rider who would benefit by Ward not being in the series??

Back to the case in hand, as we are still discussing the whys, wherefores and what-ifs in light of the latest info re legal process. it could be argued that DW has already been punished ie fined and banned from a GP. Not saying I agree with that, but if it is found that there was any issue with the testing then maybe a further reprimand/fine - based on him admitting he drank - and 'suspended' sentence re the GPs is warranted - unless of course that doesn't fall within the FIM's regs?!

So-called speedway fans clearly letting their dislike of all things Poole override the potential success of a new FIM competition, which needs to be at least competitive for all teams!! Next year it could well be Kings Lynn representing the BEL and if they were facing the same dilemma, I bet the comments would be totally different!!

I wonder if Poole will be able to use some other assets such as Lindback and/or Madsen??

Surely that 'merger' in the early 90s was led by the then NL Poole Pirates. Agree that the NL at that time were royally shafted, and agree wholeheartedly that the then NL were the best administered league in UK Speedway - thanks in the main to Alan Hodder and Mervyn Stewkesbury!!

The punishment for Dudek is a fine plus minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 2 years, according to FIM rules.

Dudek's substance is considered 'performance enhancing' whereas Ward's is not! So there is an argument for a lesser punishment. Not saying I agree with that but there is that option! The difference in punishment is from 6 months to 2 years max for Dudek's crime, compared to a reprimand upto a max of 2 years for Ward's!

The SS is also reporting that DW is awaiting a date for an FIM Medical Jury hearing, from which recommendations for punishment will be made to the main FIM?! Not sure when/where that is likely to be held?

Poole are delaying naming confirming their squad!!!

I really don't understand why this is still carrying on?? Even the vast majority of devout Poole (Torun and Piraterna) fans, myself included, are agreeing he's done wrong and should be punished appropriately!! But until the FIM announce their decision its all a bit academic. No doubt when the decision is announced there will be another 30+ pages on how 'right. wrong,fair, unfair, totally ridiculous, perfectly acceptable' the decision is?!

But he might only get banned from the GPs for the rest of the season?! He might only be reprimanded or have a suspended sentence?! The point is until the FIM decide and announce, he hasn't failed any tests or done anything wrong in any of the leagues!

Fair enough. Silly or not silly (it was said with a wink!!), I question the relevance of some people's opinions on the future Elite League (which is what this thread is about) when they don't attend. Its all very well to say someone 'knows their speedway' - maybe so but if that knowledge is only based on the so-called 'good old days', then I'm not sure what it has to do with the future of the EL , as bad as it is now in many people's eyes. I rarely post on any of the PL or NL threads because I rarely attend a PL or NL track (except very occasionally Somerset), so I don't see that my opinion has any constructive relevance on any PL/NL topics. That's my choice I know, despite having attended Poole meetings when they were in the old National League, when crowds were much much greater than the EL is now. Anyway each to their own - but better still if its constructive comment rather than the same old same old!!

I think you should read the article again in full!! Typical Mirror - where has it ever been claimed he was on a 'boozy night out with pals' other than by some on here?? I mean its not as if they or any other 'red top' actually had a reporter out there to cover the meeting let alone be out and about in Latvia!!
