  1. I don't think its the EL promoters you have to convince!!
  2. Story on speedwaygp.com Suspended for 2 Zielona meetings. Awaiting results of the 'B' sample test. If positive, could be a 2-year ban. (Unless the Poles agree to 'sponsor' a new court house??!)
  3. Emil wants to be able to compete at the top level in the GPs. He needs substantial funding to do that. Competing in the SEC doesn't require him to be at his best so he can get by with what he's got - however much out of pocket he is!!
  4. No Holder for Piraterna?? Or is Zagar still contracted to cover??
  5. I'm quite sure there will be sponsors keen to be linked with the World Speedway League Champions!!
  6. As far as the 2015 competition and Rosco's 5-year plan is concerned, the one key difference with Rosco getting BSPA backing is that unlike his predecessors - Middlo and Lyon - Rosco is himself a member of the BSPA as a licensed Promoter!!! Now I'm not sure if that will make any difference - good or bad - but Rosco is certainly in a better position to get that support!! Assuming of course that we all believe its the BSPA's role to support/sponsor/finance/organise Team GB. Leaving British league speedway aside for the moment - maybe its the Team GB set-up that needs a 'Barry Hearn'-type influence??!
  7. Having just watched a re-run of the incident, I have to say I have some sympathy with the referee. The 'incident' happened coming off bend 4 into the finish straight (at the end of lap 3) where the fencing is covered by banners etc. It could be that Jim Lawrence just couldn't clearly see the incident fully and had to wait til the race ended before looking at all the replays and angles - as the TV audience does. You could see from the replays that Nilsson rode from mid-track right to the fence and taking Krcmar with him. In the 'live' running, Lawrence would only have seen Nilsson coming off bend 4 towards the fence and Krcmar and his handle bars/ front wheel lift above the level of the fence banner?! Maybe there needs to be a ban on fence banners on the home straight fencing if it impedes the ref's view!!!? Krcmar gesticulating to the ref at the end (and the handbags referred to) prompted the review! Good call I feel.
  8. The AGM has been held in the Uk for the past several seasons, BUT that could change this year?!! Who said anything about being invited?? Protests are usually staged as a 'surprise' - maybe just to hand in a petition of fan wishes/views/constructive proposals.?! The Speedway Star could co-ordinate the petition's proposals maybe? Anyone fancy a few days in Tenerife in November??!
  9. Why a joke? Holder has ridden for Poole this year, has signed a Poole 2014 contract and lives in or just outside Poole!! What would be more of a joke in those circumstances is if he rode against Poole!!
  10. But at least you get the chance to see Poole twice!! Away at Wolves on 4th (Live on Sky) and as close as we get to a local derby - home to Swindon on 6th!! You know it make sense! Enjoy your week.
  11. Well the Welsh connections certainly appeared to help - Rosco and Morris!!!
  12. Whats your point? Ward, Holder,Janowski and Pawlicki all rode for the 2013 Pirates, which is what this competition is all about!! Why would you want a 'true reflection of the strength of the rival leagues'?? We all know that generally the British EL is weaker than the rest, so to have a competition with more equal strength teams will surely make for better racing theoretically - albeit in this first year as only a 4xteam round with 4 riders per team - as long as all the riders meet the agreed criteria!!
  13. From little acorns (albeit somewhat misshapen),... large oak trees grow!!!
  14. For many non-Birmingham fans that are nevertheless trying to understand the detail of what has actually gone wrong at Perry Barr, the posturing of several 'I'm more important than you' individuals on here is not doing any good for anyone - least of all Brummies Speedway!!!? Factual clarification is what is needed!
  15. Am I correct in remembering that this couple's house was actually burnt down a couple of years ago??!
  16. It may well never work long term but can't agree that 'nobody wants it'!! Its a FIM meeting, with Armando Castagna and others firmly of the belief that this should be one of the ways forward. As has been said before, the major issue behind it not being a 4-round series this year (and probably next year too) is simply money - or the lack of it, especially in the UK!! Poole were offered the opportunity to host it this year but simply could not 'guarantee' the cost!! - and if Poole couldn't do it I doubt any other EL club could, even with some external financial support! However that is no reason for not at least trying it - and when/where better than a GP weekend in Poland?!
  17. Don't disagree with any of that, other than to add that their must also be some control of machinery/costs etc so that engine tuners cannot put so much financial pressure on the riders! Then the riders wouldn't need to demand higher (and higher and higher) pay deals.
  18. I think there needs to be an agreement between Promoters as to what they want league speedway to be? Apart from the basic '4 blokes on 4 bikes for 4 laps', the sport has changed in many ways over the years. Is it An 'Extreme' sport/entertainment, or a 'Family sport/entertainment'? Or maybe something else. Once decided they need to promote the heck out of their preferred choice. If its to be 'extreme' then make it extreme - create villains and heroes; set-up real rivalries; have some handbags and disagreements!! If its to be family oriented - as in the past - then offer families some real incentives to attend; provide regular family entertainment in addition to the 15 heats; run on a family-friendly day; make sure all riders are accessible, before and after meetings etc etc
  19. So all confirmed for 31st August at Zielona Gora as a 4-team, 4-rider competition. Poole to represent the BSPA with a team of Ward, Pawlicki, Janowski and 1 other(awaiting approval - likely to be Holder, subject to fitness!!)
  20. No surprise after that crash at Leicester last night!!!!
