  1. This link gives some different detail than that in the official BSPA statement, so either the author is making some unfounded assumptions or he's had some 'inside' info from the likes of Rosco I presume?! Why would the BSPA statement say that they are hoping to make it as easy as possible for as many GP riders to consider the EL - only to then introduce a 'maximum of 2 x 7+ pointers' per team??? It just doesn't make sense!!
  2. Its not as if he's served all his time!!! He's only out 'on licence'!!! There are other 'professions' that would not allow a convicted rapist to return to their former employment - but it doesn't stop him/them from seeking employment elsewhere.
  3. Congrats Josh G - Winner of the Queensland Championship!!
  4. The Vice Chair DOES have a bit more influence as he is voted on to the Management Committee (BSPA MC) - which can make/overrule decisions during the season..
  5. Is there another EL promoter 'not a million miles away'??
  6. From a mischievous point of view, I would love it if Matt Ford were to be voted in as Vice Chair again - if only to watch this forum go into meltdown !!!
  7. If the local Echo has it right today - it looks like Friday 24th April is the target date?! (Not sure why a Friday but that's what it says!)
  8. I wonder who will step into Jon Cook's BSPA shoes?? Will they go for someone with a bit of experience, someone who has served before or someone newish??
  9. Thanks. Seems as though they are looking at Hancock or Kildemand as potential replacements for Holder who has not yet agreed any deal!!
  10. Well at least there'll be plenty of Kings Lynn views!!
  11. Speedway doesn't own that many stadia to close down!!!
  12. Shouldn't be too many of the 'who rides for whom' issues this time with the teams that have qualified?!
  13. Youngsters don't need to buy the printed version - they can get access to the online version. But as we know with all aspects of modernday speedway (apart from the riders) nobody embraces social and electronic media to any great beneficial effect. I have no issue with the Larry Ross interview other than it wouldn't interest a certain age group. For me a front page splash headline of Martin Vaculik calling Nicki Pedersen 'the most dirty rider in the world and an actor' plus a tagline of Jon Cook's pre-AGM thoughts might raise a few more views amongst the (ever-increasing number of) casual speedway followers?! Still a good read though and I do still get it on subscription.
  14. So every female modelling underwear/swimwear in a lad's mag is clearly 'asking for it' then??!! The mind boggles.
  15. Some great stuff in this week's issue. Especially liked the various knowledgeable views on guests, getting some top riders back and the fast track system. Jon Cook is always good for an overview although I don't agree with his comment (aimed at Rosco) that it was only at Swindon that we saw 'strung-out' reserves! There was a distinct gap in abilities between most of the Grade A reserves and the rest - and that needs to be addressed rather than left as it is!! PS. Not sure what the SS has to do to attract new younger readers, assuming that is one of its objectives - but long features on old (forgotten?) riders is not going to hit the right note in either the printed or the online version.
  16. OR by the same token, if it was another rider say Harris or Nicholls, they wouldn't be vilified in quite the same way Ward has been because they don't ride for Poole (or Piraterna or Torun)!
  17. I think its totally wrong for Charlie Webster to be pilloried for her moral stance on this issue!! No matter what people think of Evans, its Charlie's decision to stand down as a Patron of her local club, based on her own beliefs and personal experiences - and good for her for doing so! Other patrons and sponsors have also stepped aside and made their feelings known and there is nothing wrong with that. I have no issue with Evans having served his punishment and trying to resume a career and the club will undoubtedly make a decision on his future with them - taking into account all commercial, social and 'political' pressures. I mean, its not as if he's Darcy Ward is it??????????!!!!
  18. Quite a few riders have a drink the night before an evening meeting - even NKI alluded to that (and a lot worse) - in an interview he gave back in august, so lets not single out Ward for that!! . Clearly having a whole day to re-hydrate is more than enough for most riders, but not if the meeting is rearranged for the afternoon when the testing is done earlier. Just to add to his comments last night, as Starman says, Darcy did show remorse last night and was very contrite when interviewed and was very good with loads of the fans afterwards. Also he didn't appear to have been drinking, but that is just a personal observation.
  19. Darcy announced at the Poole Awards evening today that he expected the hearing to be deferred to January 2015 - but doesn't have a date yet!!
  20. Poole seeking to host FIM World Speedway league in April 2015 - Matt Ford announced at the club's awards night this evening!!!
